This col, reaching 1261m is not "hard", rarely more than 4-5%, and on the Drôme side mostly in the shade of trees, but temperature was going up, and my body wasn't quite ready for it. But I reached it, meeting only a number of fellow cyclists and some very few cars and motorbikes (this col is really not for them).

Walter Annenberg
Walter Annenberg (1908-2002) was the son of Moses Annenberg, a newspaper businessman that purchased the Philadelphia Inquirer and was indicted in what was at the time called "the single greatest case of tax fraud in U.S. history".
Walter attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, but he dropped out before attaining a degree.
After his father's death in 1942, he took over his father's business and greatly expanded it, buying up rival newspapers and even buying up radio and TV stations. He started new publications, such as TV Guide and Seventeen Magazine, and it published Playboy Magazine.

In 1966, Annenberg used The Inquirer to cast doubt on the candidacy of Democrat Milton Shapp for governor of Pennsylvania. Shapp was highly critical of the proposed merger of the Pennsylvania Railroad with the New York Central Railroad and was pushing the US Interstate Commerce Commission to prevent it from occurring. Annenberg, who was the biggest individual stockholder of the Pennsylvania Railroad, wanted to see the merger succeed (which it did) and he was frustrated with Shapp's opposition. Her contributions to political "science" are her theories on what she calls "deliberative democracy" and on "group identity". Gutmann is a member of the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF), which convenes at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. She was also among the leaders of a select group of presidents of research universities throughout the world that advised the United Nations Secretary-General on a range of global issues, including academic freedom, mass migration, international development, and the social responsibilities of universities, call the Global Colloquium of University Presidents.
Her husband, Michael Doyle, graduated from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida and is a professor at Columbia University. Two things can be true:
(1) Iran has a terrible, repressive system government, reminding us of the need to separate religion and state.
(2) A President who violates the U.S. Constitution in conducting warfare must be impeached, convicted, and removed from office.
a third thing, too: which is that Iran had experienced a revolution and moved ahead, away from church/state merger, but the US did a counter revolution and put a religiously extreme government back in power.
Of course that indicts more than 1 American regime, as more than 1 regime presided over manipulating those "brave Mujahideen fighters", which gets a lot more messy.
