A review on the use of the preservative thimerosal in vaccines slated to be presented on Thursday to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's outside vaccine committee cites a study that does not exist, the scientist listed as the study's author said.
The report, called "Thimerosal as a Vaccine Preservative" published on the #CDC website on Tues, is to be presented by Lyn Redwood, a fmr leader of the #AntiVaccine group Children's Health Defense.
It makes reference to a study called "Low-level neonatal thimerosal exposure: Long-term consequences in the brain," published in the journal Neurotoxicology in 2008, & co-authored by UC Davis Professor Emeritus Robert Berman.
But acc/to Berman, "it's not making reference to a study I published or carried out."
Berman said he co-authored a similarly named study in a different journal - Toxicological Sciences - that came to different conclusions than those suggested by Redwood.
"We did not examine the effects of thimerosal in microglia... I do not endorse this misrepresentation of the research," he said.
Reuters is the first to report on the inaccurate citation from Redwood's planned presentation.

Got an old Dell PC that I have setup dual-boot Linux/Win 10, principally used for A/V but was unable to connect to big screen because it had no HDMI port. Attempted to put a newer video card in it that I had lying around but it took more power than the 375 watt power supply could provide. And then recent kernel upgrades broke nouveau in a way that the sync rate no longer worked with the monitor. So I found an old ATI Radeon card at Re-PC for a whole of $19 that was light enough in power requirements to work in this machine but which had HDMI so I can connect it to the television. And as a bonus, the device drivers in Linux work correctly with it so it's displaying good under Linux again. This machine is one of the early dual core Athlon CPU based machines yet it provides adequate performance for it's function. The power supply is only 375 watts but is a non-standard form factor so I can't easily replace it. At one point I was just going to move the whole thing to a new case, but then discovered the motherboard is laid out backwards for an ATX so that was a no-go. Gotta love Dell engineering. But it just keeps on ticking.

You could talk to the Friendica devs about trying to get the formatted HTML sent, then you'd just need the postbox stylesheet on the wafrn server to display them properly.

The loading of the postbox stylesheet in 1.2 is tied to the availability of the Jot/Compose window I think, so it doesn't load that stylesheet anywhere that modal isn't shown. I'm moving it to a separate hook in the <head> element so it loads regardless, even when you're not logged in.

Try going to this "postbox sampler" page on your server and scroll to the bottom where the animated ones are. The ones that use pure CSS work fine, but the ones that use SVG images are missing them (Rainy, Rocket, Snowy, and Waves).
Could it also be CDN issue? I know some of them block/change SVG images on the fly. I used SVG so they'd look nice on high-DPI screens, but if this is a problem maybe I'll make them into PNGs in a future release.
