I wanted to get Starlink but we get rain and wind throughout the year.
@Faelyn no it just sits out there year round. I might bring it in if there was going to be a hurricane. maybe. I have it 3' off the ground on an upended 300 gallon tub, and there's no risk of it becoming submerged. It has a built in heater for the winter. you can also tell it to "stow" which makes it vertical, so that could protect it a bit too. I need to put mine on a pole. so even in a bad storm it'd still be out there.
luckily they're cheaper now than when i got mine, and smaller.

I will have to look into this and see what installation entails. A Starlink chain comes right over my house. If I'm outside, sometimes I will see it, it will light up because of all the flying planes after dark.

In fact, TikTok is basically the main reason people in the west even know that there's a genocide in Gaza happening. It's pretty much the only mainstream platform that doesn't censor communists, and it's been a crucial education tool.
