Did I already tell? When we still lived in Schöneberg (Berlin district) my woman saw Blixa Bargeld, grocery shopping, when suddenly an eternally long American vintage convertible pulled up alongside and honked loudly, with Nick Cave at the wheel. Once he stepped on my toes in the Metropol Theatre, nearby. He didn't apologise. Or maybe I just didn't hear it over the noise.

BTW, “Flügel” is “wing”. I just read, this horn was originally used by hunting parties and military to give signals at the wings of the formation, hence the name. If that’s of any interest (a quirk of mine to keep looking up things).

For the heroin, I can remember there was an anti-movement in the 80's, especially in Kreuzberg, which was much rougher than Schöneberg, with people spraying on house walls "Heroin-Dealer raus aus Kreuzberg" (Heroin-Dealers get out of Kreuzberg). I think the worst time was more in the 70s, when David Bowie had lived in Schöneberg btw.
In the 80s there had been much awareness about the downward spiral heroin causes for most addicts, with many deaths. I think this goes back very much to a girl commonly called Christiane F., who struggled to get away from heroin, and someone made a famous film about her ("Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo", "Us Kids from Zoo Station" or so, don't know if there's an English version).
It became so famous that we even had to read the book to it in school and a teacher invited a man who escaped heroin, to tell us his story in school. Video with Bowie's "Heroes" (written in Hansa studio afaik, with view over the wall) and Christiane F. Footage
Christiane F. (Felscherinow) was in the early 80s in a relationship with Alex Hacke, who was part of Einstürzende Neubauten. They also made some music together: Christiane F.: "Spinnen"
