Le #NYT avait déjà enquêté par le passé sur le rôle secret des #USA, de la #CIA en particulier, en Ukraine, lors de la guerre du #Donbass, c'est-à-dire avant l'invasion russe.
J'avais donné ici même un résumé en français de cette enquête. Fin mars, le journal américain a sorti une nouvelle enquête. Elle porte cette fois sur le rôle secret des USA depuis l'invasion russe de 2022 (ou, du moins, une partie de ce rôle secret). J'en donne ci-dessous, à nouveau, une brève synthèse en français.Peu après l'invasion russe de février 2022, Washington décide de coordonner la guerre en Ukraine depuis ses bases en #Europe, dans le cadre de l' #OTAN. C'est ainsi que des généraux ukrainiens sont conviés à #Wiesbaden, en #Allemagne. C'est le quartier général américain pour les opérations militaires en Europe et en Afrique. Un partenariat est scellé.
Pour coordonner cette alliance : un général ukrainien, #Zabrodskyi (photo de droite), et un général américain, #Donahue (photo de gauche). Sous Donahue s'organise un état-major de l'OTAN, avec un général polonais comme adjoint, un général britannique affecté à la logistique et un général canadien commis à la formation des unités ukrainiennes. Les différents services de renseignement américains intègrent ce commandement. De leur côté, les Ukrainiens implantent à Wiesbaden près d'une vingtaine d'officiers d'état-major. La guerre sera donc dirigée depuis l'Allemagne par un quartier général conjoint.
Le mode de fonctionnement est le suivant. Les Américains recueillent du renseignement sur les Russes, par leurs espions, par leurs satellites, par leurs écoutes des communications... Ce renseignement leur permet de désigner des cibles à frapper sur le terrain. Ils livrent aux Ukrainiens des armements aptes à cette mission : des drones navals, de l'artillerie, des lance-roquettes à longue portée... Et les Ukrainiens détruisent les cibles russes désignées par les Américains.
Quelques exemples. Le navire amiral de la flotte russe de la mer Noire, le #Moskva, coulé en pleine mer ; le commandement de la redoutable 58e armée russe décapité par une frappe sur l'état-major ; la base navale de Sébastopol ciblée, grâce au travail de la CIA, par des drones qui endommagent plusieurs navires et contraignent les Russes à se replier sur un port plus éloigné (les USA avaient fourni à cet effet à l'Ukraine le prototype d'un drone destiné à s'opposer, dans le futur, à une invasion chinoise à Taïwan).
Le 'New York Times' conclut que l'action américaine dans la guerre en Ukraine s'inscrit dans la longue suite de confrontations avec Moscou par pays interposés, comme les conflits du Vietnam et d'Afghanistan ; et que cette guerre est d'un grand intérêt pour les USA car elle leur permet de valider, ou pas, les tactiques et les armements en usage, et de tirer d'utiles leçons en vue des conflits du futur. En cela, le journal new-yorkais apporte de l'eau au moulin de Moscou qui considère que le conflit n'est pas une guerre entre la Russie et l'Ukraine mais entre la #Russie et l' #OTAN, l'Ukraine faisant office de ce qu'on appelle aujourd'hui un proxy, c'est-à-dire un intermédiaire au service des USA.

When I was looking for more diverse illustrations for npcs in my campaign, I was frustrated to notice that a lot of some archetypes were ai-gen. Fat *human* women*? Black *human* characters in fantasy settings? Fat AND black character? Ugly characters? Without having them sexualised or made monstrous? It is so much harder to find when you remove ai-gen...
True! But even then...
I made dozens of npcs (probably more than 50 at this point) so far and decent representations would require tons of commissions... Meanwhile I have to choose what to pick among dozens of white conventionally-attractive men in 15 different variations of roles, clothing styles, vibes, etc.
The problem is so deeply rooted... *Sighs*

we finally received this 100ah 48v rack mount LiFePo battery. it may be slightly limiting for whole house power, but still pretty decent. it should deliver enough power to run my tools and i can add another one if needed.
my plan is to build and test this solar system here in the shop before i move. i need to do a full discharge test to make sure the battery has the rated capacity... hopefully today.
