Military spending increased in all #world regions, with particularly rapid growth in both #Europe and the #MiddleEast. The top five military spenders–the United States, China, Russia, Germany and India–accounted for 60 per cent of the global total, with combined spending of USD 1635 billion.

What worries me most about this is China and India. They're not at war now, so why are they so busily arming? Are they planning to go to war soon?

The plutocrats in the US intend to export plutocracy. The military build ups initiated by the pressure of an absence of the US as an ally only plays right into the hands of those very plutocrats. Those monies, that build up, logically, will enrich the segment of the population in those countries that are already vested in the military industrial complex. Seems to me global plutocracy equates quite nicely to global feudalism in the 21st century...
That war is profoundly damaging with long term widespread negative effects means nothing to individuals who see only a potential for profit & power !!!
