"It says a lot about their priorities that in the face of #genocide and systematic starvation of 2M people lawmakers, whose responsibility should be to protect the people, rather than ending their complicity to genocide and the mass slaughter of civilians are focusing on mocking people who are at least trying to do their bit." 👏

Porcelain or Ceramic Tiles: Finding the Best Fit for Your Project

Neither porcelain nor ceramic is “better”—it’s about what your project demands. Consider durability, moisture exposure, design, and budget. A quick conversation with a tiles supplier can ensure you pick a tile that looks fantastic and performs for years.

Picking between porcelain and ceramic tiles can be a puzzle. They often look alike, but their performance varies once installed. Choosing wisely now can prevent costly fixes later. So, what sets them apart? Where do they work best? And how do you make the right call?

What Makes Them Different?

Both porcelain and ceramic tiles are crafted from clay, fired in a kiln, and often glazed for a sleek look. But their construction makes all the difference.

Porcelain tiles are denser, fired at higher temperatures, and absorb minimal water, making them tougher and more moisture-resistant. Ceramic tiles are less dense, more porous, and easier to work with during installation.

These traits shape where each tile is most effective.

Porcelain: Tough and Weather-Ready

Porcelain is a standout for demanding spaces. Its dense composition makes it perfect for high-traffic areas like kitchen floors, commercial lobbies, or entryways. It resists wear, stains, and scratches with ease.

Its low water absorption makes it ideal for wet environments—shower stalls, outdoor porches, or mudrooms. Porcelain can handle moisture and temperature swings without cracking.

The trade-off? Porcelain is harder to cut and install, requiring specialized tools and often more time, which can raise costs or challenge DIYers.

Ceramic: Affordable and Style-Driven

Ceramic tiles shine in less intense settings. They’re lighter, easier to cut, and typically more affordable, making them great for DIY projects or budget renovations.

Ceramic feature wall tiles, for instance, are perfect for adding flair to spaces like bathroom walls or kitchen backsplashes. These areas don’t face heavy wear, and ceramic’s wide range of designs—colors, textures, and patterns—makes it a design favorite.

Ceramic’s porosity makes it less suited for wet or outdoor spaces, but it’s ideal for dry, decorative applications.

Where Each Works Best

Your decision hinges on the space and its demands. Here’s a clear breakdown:

Opt for porcelain when:
- Tiling wet areas (bathrooms, outdoor patios, laundry areas)
- Facing high-traffic zones (hallways, retail spaces)
- Seeking long-lasting, low-maintenance surfaces

Choose ceramic when:
- Tiling walls or low-traffic areas (accent walls, backsplashes)
- Handling DIY projects needing easy-to-cut materials
- Prioritizing design variety on a budget

A trusted tiles supplier will ask about your project’s specifics—location, usage, and installation plans—to recommend the best fit.

Water Resistance and Longevity

Porcelain’s low water absorption (under 0.5%) makes it a top pick for wet or outdoor spaces. It resists moisture-related issues like cracking or mold, even in harsh climates.

Ceramic tiles, being more absorbent, are better for dry areas like interior walls or low-traffic floors. Using them in wet zones risks damage over time.

A tiles supplier can guide you to avoid errors, like using ceramic where porcelain’s resilience is needed.
Cost and Installation

Ceramic tiles are generally cheaper to buy and install. Their softer material simplifies cutting, keeping labor costs down and suiting DIYers.

Porcelain is pricier and requires specialized tools for cutting, often increasing installation costs. But its durability can save money by reducing future repairs.

A ceramic tiles supplier Singapore can help you weigh these factors to match your budget and goals.

Design and Visual Appeal

Ceramic tiles often lead in design options, offering bold colors, intricate patterns, and textured finishes at a lower price. They’re perfect for creative projects like decorative walls or vibrant backsplashes.

Porcelain tiles have advanced, with designs mimicking natural materials like marble or oak. Still, ceramic typically offers more affordable style variety.

Making the Decision

Choose porcelain for wet, high-traffic, or outdoor areas where durability and water resistance are key. Opt for ceramic for decorative, low-traffic, or budget-driven projects where style and ease matter most.

Uncertain? A tiles supplier can clarify your options. Share your project’s specifics, and they’ll point you to the tile that fits your needs.

Closing Thought

Neither porcelain nor ceramic is “better”—it’s about what your project demands. Consider durability, moisture exposure, design, and budget. A quick conversation with a tiles supplier can ensure you pick a tile that looks fantastic and performs for years.

Reality is consciousness taking shape.

A massive scandal! #Ukraine is celebrating a “spectacular victory” after striking… a plane graveyard!

What did they actually hit? Rusty hulks of old Soviet A-50 aircraft — no engines, stripped of all value, abandoned for years. No A-50U. No missions disrupted.

Blurry satellite images and loud headlines — just smoke and noise to cover up mounting defeats and billions wasted. No active aircraft were hit.

While Western media swallows the narrative… real Russian A-50U planes still dominate the skies.

Putin has promised a response — and it won’t be just an empty shell. 🇷🇺

roncesetracines.fr/pourquoi-no…

in reply to Amans

2/

in reply to Amans

3/3

in reply to Amans

Agent2Agent is a protocol from Google so that agents can talk to each other and work together, even if they are made by different companies (who might otherwise be competitors). This actually happened back on April 9 but I just found out about it today.

"The Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol facilitates communication between independent AI agents. Here are the core concepts:"

"Agent Card: A public metadata file describing an agent's capabilities, skills, endpoint URL, and authentication requirements. Clients use this for discovery."

"A2A Server: An agent exposing an HTTP endpoint that implements the A2A protocol methods. It receives requests and manages task execution."

"A2A Client: An application or another agent that consumes A2A services. It sends requests (like tasks/send) to an A2A Server's URL."

"Task: The central unit of work. A client initiates a task by sending a message (tasks/send or tasks/sendSubscribe). Tasks have unique IDs and progress through states (submitted, working, input-required, completed, failed, canceled)."

"Message: Represents communication turns between the client (role: 'user') and the agent (role: 'agent'). Messages contain Parts."

"Part: The fundamental content unit within a Message or Artifact. Can be TextPart, FilePart (with inline bytes or a URI), or DataPart (for structured JSON, e.g., forms)."

"Artifact: Represents outputs generated by the agent during a task (e.g., generated files, final structured data). Artifacts also contain Parts."

"Streaming: For long-running tasks, servers supporting the streaming capability can use tasks/sendSubscribe. The client receives Server-Sent Events (SSE) containing TaskStatusUpdateEvent or TaskArtifactUpdateEvent messages, providing real-time progress."

"Push Notifications: Servers supporting pushNotifications can proactively send task updates to a client-provided webhook URL, configured via tasks/pushNotification/set."

"Typical Flow:"

"Discovery: Client fetches the Agent Card from the server's well-known URL."

"Initiation: Client sends a tasks/send or tasks/sendSubscribe request containing the initial user message and a unique Task ID."

"Processing:"

"(Streaming): Server sends SSE events (status updates, artifacts) as the task progresses."

"(Non-Streaming): Server processes the task synchronously and returns the final Task object in the response."

"Interaction (Optional): If the task enters input-required, the client sends subsequent messages using the same Task ID via tasks/send or tasks/sendSubscribe."

"Completion: The task eventually reaches a terminal state (completed, failed, canceled)."

The whole entire "protocol" is simply a single JSON file. You can go and look at it. It has defined sections for things like "AgentAuthentication", "AgentCapabilities", "AgentCard", "AgentProvider", "AgentSkill", "Artifact", a whole bunch of standard messages ("CancelTaskResponse" etc), "TextPart", "FilePart", "DataPart", etc.

Most of you probably know of LibreOffice, which is an amazing open source project, but there is another solution, which is suitable for individuals, and professionals alike, and might just be the best choice out there for Linux, and it's called Only Office.

What is OnlyOffice

Onlyoffice is an open source office suite, developed by Ascensio System, a company based in Riga, in Latvia.

It's not just your basic word processor, spreadsheet and presentation modules, though. These are of course available online or offline, but you also get access to a complete CRM, a projects management module, a webmail and calendar, and a internal social network.

How do you get it ?

There are multiple ways to get access to OnlyOffice. You can download their desktop editor, which will serve as your office suite, installed on your computer. They provide it in AppImage form, which ensures that any distro will be able to make use of it. The file itself is pretty light, less than 250 Mb. You can also get a deb, and RPM, a Snap, or a flatpak, so bascially whatever distro you're using, you can get access to it.

The desktop editors only include the word processor, the spreadsheet, and the presentation module. If you want access to the whole suite, you can go with the cloud service, or self host your own OnlyOffice.

The cloud service or the self hosted version aren't free though, and will currently set you back at least 66€ per year for one user, which is in the ballpark of a Microsoft Office 365 subscription, although with less cloud storage, 20Gb instead of 1Tb, and less tools, since you don't get an equivalent to OneNote, Publisher, or Access.

What can it do ?

OnlyOffice is a very capable office suite. First, the basic modules are highly compatible with Microsoft Office documents. Compared to other options, like LibreOffice, or GOogle docs, it just handles any type of document like a champ.

OnlyOffice can also open and edit Microsoft Office autoshapes, instead of just displaying them like basic images, and inline charts and tables inside of text documents can also be edited directly from the word processor, which is a nice plus. It works with plenty of file formats, including the Open Document Format that LibreOffice uses, so you're not losing access to anything, and it can export to PDF easily.

The interface is ribbon based, like Microsoft Office, so users won't feel too lost there, and you can open multiple documents in a single window thanks to tabs on the title bar. Tabs can be dragged out of the main window if you prefer having individual windows to work with. Be careful though, you need to have the main "Desktop Editor window" opened even if there are no document located in it, which is a bit weird.

The word processor supports everything you'd expect: font and styles, paragraph formatting, margins, page numbering, equations, drop caps, find and replace... It should work for most users here.

The spreadsheet module handles functions, and formulas, sorting and filtering, and obviously allows you to create charts and format them easily. For more advanced users, macros are supported, using Javascript , so no Office Macro support here, but you can recreate them if you can handle a bit of JS.

As per the presentation module, it has a bunch of themes to get you started, handles charts, tables, equations, as well as transitions and animations, including applying those in bulk. It also has a presenter mode with notes, which is a required feature for anyone who regularly gives talks or for students.

On top of these features, onlyoffice supports document versioning, so you can always get back to an older version, you can track changes and compare documents, and accept or reject the various changes, and all these modules support online collaboration, for multi-user editing of a document.

To complete this already excellent roundup, OnlyOffice has android and iOS apps to open and edit your documents on the go, with touch friendly interfaces.
