Trying to find a nice email client for Mac OS. So far, chanced upon Edison Mail, which looked nice until, digging about, I realise the company harvests email and sells it ("anonymously", of course). Yikes.
Just found Mailspring, which looks half decent. I'd use Apple Mail, but it has an odd bug in it that won't always let me delete emails...

Because there was no way to uphold that status quo without mass displacement and nonstop tyranny, violence and abuse. Set up a status quo of dehumanizing a group of people and manufacturing consent for violence and abuse against them, and you will inevitably wind up with a far right #apartheid state which is committing #genocide, as surely as dropping a stone off a building will result in a stone falling to the ground.
What we are seeing in #Gaza today was baked into the state of Israel ever since its inception.
All those dead kids on your social media feed are the fruit of a tree whose seed was planted after the second world war. That tree has been bearing more and more fruit, and it will continue to for as long as it remains standing. Because thatโs just the kind of tree it is. The only kind of tree it ever could have been.Saying โI support Israel but I donโt support the actions of #Netanyahu in Gazaโ is like saying โI like this apple tree but only when it sprouts coconuts instead of apples.โ That is not the kind of tree it is. The apple tree will only produce apples, and the genocide tree will only produce genocide.
Israelโs supporters avoid confronting obvious truths like these. Support for Israel depends on mass-scale psychological compartmentalization. Everything about it revolves around avoiding unpleasant truths instead of deeply and viscerally reckoning with them.Averting the eyes from the video footage of Israelโs atrocities in Gaza. Averting the eyes from the contradictions between the values they purport to hold and everything Israel is as a state. Averting the eyes from the mountains upon mountains of evidence staring us all in the face. Thatโs the only way support for Israel is able to continue.
In order to become a truth-driven species, we need to stop hiding from uncomfortable truths. And one of our favorite hiding places for uncomfortable truths at this point in #history is the modern state of Israel, and the western empireโs support for it.

was it worth 2 days of suffering and about $300 in parts and tools? absolutely cause the other day i realized how scorching hot the all black interior of that thing is going to get after parking it outside in the sun for a short time.
as a bonus i ended up with some new sets of snap ring pliers, and a dedicated serpentine belt tensioner tool and some stubby sockets. also fixed that last ugly little bumper sag in the front, cleaned some gunk off the alternator and the engine block, and mitigated a bit of rust in the frame while i was in there.
all in all not a bad result. just really glad i didn't screw something up and have to take stuff apart again which has definitely happened before
i figure that would have cost over $1k at the dealer since a lot of stuff has to come out to access the AC compressor, and i had to raise the engine slightly.
feeling pretty chuffed though after a test drive. this is gona make my summer suck a lot less driving to and from the property with AC

Boiling distilled water in my new borosilicate glass stove-to-fridge pitcher. Sometimes I live on the edge and do nasal lavage with distilled water STRAIGHT FROM THE GALLON JUG!!! But if I wanna be really anal like other people trying to stay on top of their bronchiectasis, I gotta boil it for 11 minutes first, because technically even bottled distilled water isn't sterile.
Bronchiectasis makes one vulnerable to infections of otherwise "friendly" bacteria in the air, soil, and water, so we're supposed to sterilize everything all the time. It's of course impossible to sterilize one's environment and I wonder how hard I should try. It's like acquired OCD. Trying to balance mental health with physical.
Anyway I got this pitcher you can boil water in on the stove, which is weird and fascinating and I keep imagining it shattering but so far so good.
@ninapaleyI don't know what they are called, but you just plug them in and they heat themselves, you keep it filled and it's always ready. Not sure it would do for sterilization though

You're supposed to boil water, even bottled distilled water, for 10 minutes at sea level plus another minute for very thousand feet above sea level.
Then you can store it for up to 48 hours in the fridge.
Then you do it agin.
I will probably use it beyond 48 hours. I live on the edge, high risk.
I'm doing this mostly to see if I can stand it, make it part of my daily routine. If not, I'll just use distilled water straight from the grocery store jug and hope for the best. I figured I should at least try. This borosilicate pitcher at least simplifies the process as you don't need to pour from vessel to vessel. But it is very weird to heat it on the stove! It makes strange sounds, different from stainless steel pots.
