Philly. A city of trash (and the sanitation workers are on strike), a city of Democrats (but I repeat myself), and a city of the stupid. Well, anything technical is looked down upon. Now, the only thing I don't like about remotely-driven cars is the safety factor. Sometimes these cars do not drive as they are supposed to, actually leading to death of the occupant(s) of the car. Three years after starting a club meant to fight #SocialMedia’s grip on young people, many original members are holding firm and gaining new converts.

"Biruk Watling, a college sophomore wearing a baggy coat and purple fingerless gloves, walked the chilly campus of Temple University in #Philadelphia on a recent afternoon to recruit new members to her club.
She taped a flier to a pole: '#JoinTheLudditeClub For #MeaningfulConnections.' Down the block, she posted another one: 'Do You Desire a Healthier Relationship With Technology, Especially Social Media? The Luddite Club Welcomes You and Your Ideas.'

"When a student approached, Ms. Watling dove into her pitch.

"'Our club promotes #ConsciousConsumption of #technology,' she said. 'We’re for #HumanConnection. I’m one of the first members of the original Luddite Club in #Brooklyn. Now I’m trying to start it in #Philly.

"She pulled out a #FlipPhone, mystifying her recruit.

"'We use these,' she said. 'This has been the most freeing experience of my life.'
If Ms. Watling had a missionary’s zeal, it was because she wasn’t just promoting a student club, but an approach to modern life that profoundly changed her two years ago, when she helped form the Luddite Club as a high school student in New York.

"But that was then, back when things were simpler, before she had embarked on the more independent life of a college student and found herself having to navigate QR codes, two-factor-identification logins, dating apps and other digital staples of campus life.

"The #LudditeClub was the subject of an article I wrote in 2022 — a story that, ironically, went viral. It told of how a group of teenage tech skeptics from Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn and a few other schools in the city gathered on weekends in Prospect Park to enjoy some time together away from the machine.

"They #sketched and #painted side by side. They read quietly, favoring works by #Dostoyevsky, #Kerouac and #Vonnegut. They sat on logs and groused about how #TikTok was dumbing down their generation. Their flip phones were decorated with stickers and nail polish.

"Readers inspired by their message responded in hundreds of emails and comments. Reporters from Germany, Brazil, Japan and elsewhere flooded my inbox, asking me how to reach these students who were so hard to track down online. Snarky Reddit threads and think pieces sprouted. #RalphNader endorsed the club in an opinion essay, writing: 'This is a rebellion that needs support and diffusion.'"

So this meat tastes good, but I called $$$$$ to see how their meat was treated before the animal was killed packaged and sent here. An extremely contradictory and dodgy phone call. First I was told the meat was "natural," so that sounds ok, the lady told me the animals were treated respectably, and they weren't given pesticides.

I started learning about nutrition (against my will) when my mother got me into a college course while in 7th grade.

Over the years I learned 'everything.' Something didn't make sense.

Why were English sailors suffering from scurvy? Eskimos weren't. How could Eskimos have healthy lives with so much fat in their diet?

In the 1970's nutrition science was taken over by the high carb crowd.

Health effects are obvious.

Eat meat. Eat fish.

Chemistry is not nutrition

In the last three days, two ships, the Greek ship "Tutor" and Ukrainian ship "Verbena," are at risk of sinking due to Yemeni Armed Forces operations targeting them in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

"Tutor" was, for the first time, directly hit by a naval drone that barreled into the engine room. Its crew abandoned ship two days later. "Verbena," on the other hand, was targeted with missiles, and its crew abandoned the ship today two days after it was targeted. These operations came in response to the ships' companies violating the Yemeni ban on ports of occupied #Palestine.

The Zionist Interior Minister, Moshe Arbel, has banned anti-Zionist Rabbi Yisroel [Dovid] Weiss from entering occupied Palestine just hours after a meeting between the rabbi and Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. During the meeting, Rabbi Weiss conveyed a message of solidarity with the people of Iran in light of recent Israeli military aggression against the country. He also expressed the stance of the Jewish opposition to Zionism and its crimes.

This move by the Israeli government reflects its growing intolerance toward dissenting voices, particularly those who publicly criticize its policies or engage with nations considered adversaries.

In response to the ban imposed upon him, Rabbi Weiss issued a powerful statement:

“Advocating for peace should not be a crime. However, in the Zionist entity, it clearly is—because Zionism thrives on war and conflict. Its very existence goes against the will of God. It depends on occupation, murder, and crimes.”

He continued, “I do not expect permission from the Zionists to enter Palestine. Thieves do not get to decide who enters stolen property. I have never visited the Zionist entity, nor do I plan to visit occupied Palestine as long as it remains under Zionist control.”

He added: “In the past, I visited Gaza for humanitarian reasons, entering through Rafah. I am prepared to visit a liberated Palestine in the future—with permission from its legitimate Palestinian government.”
