I wanted to get Starlink but we get rain and wind throughout the year.
@Faelyn no it just sits out there year round. I might bring it in if there was going to be a hurricane. maybe. I have it 3' off the ground on an upended 300 gallon tub, and there's no risk of it becoming submerged. It has a built in heater for the winter. you can also tell it to "stow" which makes it vertical, so that could protect it a bit too. I need to put mine on a pole. so even in a bad storm it'd still be out there.
luckily they're cheaper now than when i got mine, and smaller.
Thanks so much for the "real life" info. I wanted to get a Starlink dish to use at home but looking at it, I thought, is this thing weather proof and works in storms? Mine would need to be stationed outside on a pole as well.
I will have to look into this and see what installation entails. A Starlink chain comes right over my house. If I'm outside, sometimes I will see it, it will light up because of all the flying planes after dark.

I admired Steve most for his bravery in the face of personal retribution. His family was royalty in the Mormon Church. His grandfather was Ezra Benson, pres. of the church and served as Ag. Sec. in the Eisenhower admin. After years of being out in the real world, working at the Arizona Republic, Steve came to the realization that the church was a cult and voiced that publicly. He always stood on principle for what was right, no matter what.
