They arrived yesterday just in time for Prime days, and Walmart canceled a purchase I had pre ordered, so now I reordered with the gift card. I just read that the vaccine is no longer much used.

Impossible Linux things in my to-do list:

  • Fix erratically jumping mouse wheel scrolling on a Dell
  • Make a "SysRq key" work so I can do "REISUB" or something, when my computer freezes

I must have spent days (multiples of 24 hours) trying to solve these things and maybe I should just give up.

I suppose that if I had a "Linux experienced" friend by my side these could be solved in minutes, maybe?

Yeah, we used to come in at 7 am and leave at 5 pm. The boss who came in at 9 am saw me leaving one day and asked if it was my birthday. They started providing meals to anyone still at work at 6 pm. That got some guys to stick around surfing the web until 6 to pick up their free meal and take it home for supper.

At one of their waste-of-time group meetings the management complained about workers insufficiently dedicated to making our venture capitalists rich. I'm not lying. This guy, with dollar signs in his eyes, tried to shame us by comparing our work to the sacrifice of the multimillionaires who were risking a whopping $100k for the chance to make a killing off our brains and effort.
