in reply to woodland creature • • •i'd say a definite yes for painkilling especially with like americans not having easy access to stuff like codeine for example, and as a sedative, but i would advise against having it regularly because even though its really weak, it is still an opioid. first one i got into before it became a full blown addiction over time.
it doesn't do a whole lot on appetite though, something like ephedrine or ma huang if you want a tea is likely to work much better

kratom is actually not an opioid though, even though it has a narcotic effect. it's an alkyloid. i could see it being good as a substitute. obvs not as strong (or addictive) as actual opiates

in reply to Maija (Happy Sperg Housewife Arc) 🇱🇻 • • •@maija someone said this to me before and i looked it up using primary sources and got the same info. even though it supposedly acts on the same receptors it's a different enough molecule that i guess they say "not technically" opioid.
i don't really care how it's classified though. the important thing is that it doesn't have as much habit forming potential- at least for me. i could see how some people might abuse it and get hooked on it if they have a predisposition to that kind of behavior
