So it turns out that ChatGPT can't generate sheet music from audio. I assume it could given that it can generate LilyPond files. So I have to use some specialized tool to generate MIDI files for instrument conversion.
The AI tools are all proprietary and are subscription-based. My only other option is some online MP3 to MIDI converter.
It shouldn't be too hard because all I need is to record a short fanfare for my game. I already have a kazoo ordered which I will use to record it and then convert the thing to MIDI so it can be played with better instruments.
So it looks like the plan to record a fanfare with a kazoo and convert it to midi to play with better instruments didn't work out.
Most online audio to MIDI converters suck and the ones that don't are proprietary and expensive. They add extra notes to the outputted MIDI files and no matter what instrument you use to play the file, it sounds terrible.
Not to mention that playing the kazoo is actually a skill in of itself. I thought it was the easiest instrument, but it took me a while to realize that you are actually supposed to hum into it and not blow in it.
But it turns out that there is a decent FOSS desktop program known as NeuralNote. It it's 100x better than those subpar web apps because it doesn't output any artifact notes.
And here is the result, recomposed as a full orchestra. This is based off of a victory screech my siblings and I would make when we accomplished something or received something good.

@Lady MountainJay I have two cats, we adopted a new rescue dog, a Doberman, and one of the reasons we adopted this particular Doberman is we needed a dog that would be okay with the cats and the foster said that her cat slept on the dog. We previously had another Doberman with these cats, so they were used to dogs and this breed specifically. The relationship the old cats had was our grey tomcat loved to get the dog to chase him around the house where the Siamese cat didn't like this sort of play. Our new dog caught on right away and knows when the grey cat is in the mood to be chased and they play good together. Occasionally the dog tries to goad the Siamese into a chase, but she just lifts a paw and displays her claws and then the dog gives up.
@Lady MountainJay Yea, when my previous cat Monster (a real sweetheart huge grey tabby) died, shortly thereafter I went to PAWS intending to get another kitten (I had adopted Monster when he was already 12 years old, and undoubtedly he may have lived much longer but he was infected with feline leukemia and that took his life several months later), this time I wanted a kitten, as much as there was a sense of gratitude for being given the opportunity to give an old sick cat a good home I just didn't want to go through that grief right away so looked for a kitten. PAWS had no young cats at that point but suggested I check back in March or April when they typically have kittens so did so. They had a cute Siamese and a grey Tomcat about 7 months old, I hadn't intended to get two cats but they had been together nearly since birth so I took them both, now I've had them close to eight years and glad I did take them both as their interactions provide quite a lot of entertainment and with two cats, if one is in an aloof mood the odds are good the other won't be.

Maybe a dumb question. But is this just a matter of copying over? I have 6 hdds I've accumulated and want all the data from them on one big drive now. They are all ntfs as they are from windows, but I am going to boot from my mint drive to move the files, just so windows isnt running or accessing anything on the drives while I move the data. I'm transitioning to full linux, but I want to consolidate these drives first. I dont want to clone drives, so no dd here, just copying files from 6 different drives onto 1.
@applemao Yep, I would just mount the windows partitions on /mnt one at a time and copy the data where you want to go, cp -a /mnt/data/ /newlocation/data/
Have you looked into building a simple NAS? Storing files on single disks is generally bad since it is inefficient and can lead to data loss and theft.
It might sound like overkill but it gives you a lot of power and flexibility. Get an old desktop with at least 8gb of ram and then install a few drives. Next install TrueNAS, configure the disks, configure file share and call it a day.
@Possibly linux @applemao I wouldn't worry so much about efficiency as redundancy, better to have at least two drives and set up a RAID1 array, and given that the Linux kernel already has RAID, NFS, etc, I don't see the point in being dependent upon additional software such as TruNAS. That said yes it's just a matter of copying files to move the data over BUT a windows executable often will not work in a LInux environment even with wine, particularly if it contains what is known as a rootkit anti-cheat. You can however fairly easily setup a windows vm under linux.

No, it's obvious he is more concerned with getting the clutter factor down so he stated a preference for a single large drive, and if data isn't important or backed up some other media fine. If not, then you risk losing your data because sooner later drives fail. If performance was really the goal he'd raid a bunch of nvme drives together. This, by the way, is what I do for the system that runs this friendica node, along with an 18 core processor and 256 gb of RAM.

Youth in the Highlands of Chiapas: Between Hurt and Hope
On Saturday, April 19, the double femicide of the Tseltal sisters Valeria and Deisi Gรณmez Mรฉndez, murdered with bullets and found in the community of Cruz Obispo, in the municipality of Chamula, was made public on social networks. They were 18 and 14 years old, respectively. They had been kidnapped days before in San Cristรณbal de Las Casas (SCLC). Their murder adds to the eight that have occurred so far this year and the 32 reported during 2024 in the state.
Violence doesnโt end in an environment where the security strategy imposes despotic and authoritarian police force to publicize what seems to be a long campaign act of the current governor of Chiapas, Eduardo Ramirez. Has a peace pact been made? The prosecutorโs office in charge of the investigations has a past of torture and fabrication of guilty parties that raises doubts when femicides continue and human trafficking, mainly young women and children of indigenous origin, has been established in improvised brothels between SCLC and Chamula.
โWhy donโt they report it?โ asks a visitor. Some cases of abuse are found in the family environment, others are forced to let their daughters come and go on weekends under pressure from organized crime gangs that persist at the local level. It is only a matter of time before the fragile pacts of criminal governance dissolve.
But hope also flowers in this land.
