yea maybe your sternum got torn. rib cage injuries can be really painful and take a while to heal. they don't generally do anything to fix them though unless it's a compound fracture or a rib punctures a lung or something.
painkillers might lead to further injury in your situation with what sounds like deterioration or atrophy of your bones and connective tissue.
one recommendation - take a good quantity of vitamin D (10k iu and work your way up to 15 or 20k/day), and also vitamin K2 (i take 100mcg/day) to improve absorbtion of calcium into the bone. calcium supplements are tricky because excess can stay in the blood and be harmful, and precipitate into the soft tissues. you want just enough to supply bone and nerves and not too much. probably a good serving of plain, whole fat, organic yogurt per day would be enough. the K2 and D regulate it.
these injuries should probably lead you to re-evaluate lifestyle. i know there is some stuff like vaping that definitely needs to stop and i suspect there is more going on. people don't just waste away without something external influencing their behavior. maybe you have some idea what led to this situation? doctors generally won't encourage introspection. they tend to just treat symptoms and i don't think that's what you need
also i really think when your sternum and back heal, you should start every day by doing a whole body stretching routine and taking a brisk walk for just 10 minutes, and if the weather isn't nice, use some small weights and develop a routine that works on your back and core- replace some video game time with this. it's all about consistency.
and seriously take a look at your diet including any medications like adderall or whatever that might be affecting your appetite. i don't know what's going on but definitely something needs to change cause this trajectory is not looking too good
i thought of another thing to consider- you can take a powdered collagen supplement and vitamin C (needed for collagen synthesis), to help rebuild ligaments and connective tissue. there are some unflavored bovine collagen powder supplements available. i take around 500mg of powdered vitamin C in decaf tea every day and also put C + collagen powder in the high protein low carb pancake mix i developed
i rly dont have the money rn to get a bunch of supplements. i looked into collagen before and it was crazy expensive. i just try to get all that stuff through diet now. i do take a multivitamin and a calcium + d3
the crazy thing is i have improved my diet and gained a lot of weight in the past few months and this stuff only started happening after that. pretty demoralizing but i'll heal up and be fine in a month hopefully
if you buy a large container of collagen it lasts a long time. idk what it costs there, but you can get a big container of it here for like $20 that lasts for months. individual single serving packets are expensive. even a few grams per day should be beneficial. same with vitamin C powder, if you a 1kg bag instead of capsules. try to reduce expenses elsewhere, if you can. nothing should be higher priority than preventing declining health before it gets worse
that's good that you gained weight though. keep going and improve your diet more. what you don't put in your body can be as important as what you do put into it.

Scratched a tiny itch where my prior method of changing default face's font and size were combined (a feature in many ways)... After a couple leg-ups from an LLM, some documentation reading, and a lot of re-wrangling the code, and this basic just-works (still janky noise in the code), 2 sets of keybinds, one for the size, the other for the font, is a fun little accomplishment for my low programming aptitude. See, anyone can try a little emacs-fu. May adjust the binds so I keep my old method too. Best of both worlds.
