Kylie Minogue - Hand On Your Heart - Official Video

The lead-off track from Kylie’s second album “Enjoy Yourself”, “Hand On Your Heart” was a UK Chart Topper in May 1989 and made the top 10 in Australia, Finland, France, Ireland, Spain and Switzerland. The video was shot in Kylie’s home city of Melbourne and was directed by Chris Langman.

The Stock Aitken Waterman-penned song was covered by Jose Gonzalez in 2004 for his “Stay In The Shade” EP.

Lyrics:

Put your hand on your heart and tell me
That we're through, ooh
Oh, put your hand on your heart
Hand on your heart
Well it's one thing 2 fall in love
But another 2 make it last
I thought that we were just beginning
And now you say we're in the past
Oh, look me in the eye
And tell me we are really through
You know it's one thing 2 say you love me
But another 2 mean it from the heart
And if you don't intend 2 see it through
Why did we ever start
Oh, I want to hear you tell me
you don't want my love
Put your hand on your heart and tell me
It's all over
I won't believe it till you
Put your hand on your heart and tell me
That we're through, ooh
Oh, put your hand on your heart
Hand on your heart
They like 2 talk about 4 ever
But most people never get the chance
Do you want to lose our love 2gether
Do you find a new romance
Oh, I want to hear you tell me
you don't want my love
Put your hand on your heart and tell me
It's all over
I won't believe it till you
Put your hand on your heart and tell me
That we're through, ooh
Put your hand on your heart and tell me
It's all over
I won't believe it till you
Put your hand on your heart and tell me
That we're through, ooh
Oh, put your hand on your heart
Hand on your heart
Hand on your heart
(Hand on your heart)
Hand on your heart
Oh, look me in the eye
And tell me we are really through

I've been doing a lot of thinking around the nature of trust. I received the highly beneficial advice to think over who the most trustworthy people actually are, in my life. A diagram that looks like a bullseye was drawn, and I was invited to fill in actual names of people I know - where do they belong within the rings of the bullseye? The people in the middle are the most trustworthy, and the outermost rings are where the least trustworthy names go.

It was difficult to decide who's name belonged in which ring of the bullseye. So I assigned numbers to the rings of the bullseye. 1 was in the middle, 9 was right outside the bullseye. I then made a list of all the people I knew. I assigned them all numbers, then thought over the numbers, occasionally changing a number a little more or less.

When I was finished, I described the meaning of all the numbers, 1 through 9. This labeling made the most sense to me, to give more meaning to these numbers. Here they are:

1. Deep trust. Someone who totally accepts you as you are.

2. Someone who wouldn't betray you, has affinity with you, but you can't say they totally accept you as you are. They'd like to see you change.

3. A friend with a solid character, but affinity? Maybe.

4. A "fair-weather friend".

5. Any random stranger on the street. No positive or negative to speak of; still undefined and mysterious. No basis of judgement yet.

6. Negativity starts here, but it's very subtle and insidious; well hidden. Psychological predation and deception begins here. Plays mind games. Wants to come out looking better than you. Is certainly a "frenemy" or perhaps even worse, wants to turn you into a "flying monkey". A 6 has the mind of a perfect salesman or ambassador. Uses a lot of paltering; deceptive framing of everything. Plays on emotions a lot, seldom facts, unless they fit a narrative.

7. Corrupt. Has a mind of a racketeer.

8. Sketchy. Criminality begins here.

9. Predator. DANGEROUS

Phil Collins - I Wish It Would Rain Down (Official Music Video)

"I Wish It Would Rain Down" is a song from Phil Collins` 1989 album "...But Seriously", featuring Eric Clapton.

You know I never meant to see you again
But I only passed by as a friend, yeah
All this time I stayed out of sight
I started wonderin' why

Now I
Ooh, now I wish it would rain down, down on me
Ooh, yes, I wish it would rain, rain down on me now
Ooh, yes, I wish it would rain down, down on me
Ooh, yes, I wish it would rain on me

You said you didn't need me in your life
Oh, I guess you were right, yeah
Ooh, I never meant to cause you no pain
But it looks like I did it again, yeah

Now I (ooh)
Now I know I wish it would rain down, down on me (ooh)
Ooh, yes, I wish it would rain, rain down on me now (ooh)
Ooh, girl, I wish it would rain down, down on me (ooh)
Ooh, yes, I wish it would rain on me

Though your hurt is gone
Mine's hangin' on inside, and I know
Well, it's eating me through, it's eating me through every night and day
I'm just waitin' on your sign!

'Cause I know, I know, I never meant to cause you no pain
And I realize I let you down, oh yeah
But I know in my heart of hearts
I know I'm never gonna hold you again, no

Now I (ooh)
Well, now I know I wish it would rain down, down on me (ooh)
Well, you know I wish it would rain, rain down on me now (ooh)
Ooh, yes, I wish it would rain down, down on me (ooh)
Yes, you know I wish it would rain down, rain down over me (rain)

Just rain down over me
Just let it rain down (rain), let it rain down (rain)
Let it rain down (rain), oh yeah
Let it rain down (rain)
Rain down over me

Just let it rain down (rain), just let it rain down (rain)
Let it rain down (rain)
Just let it rain!

Miley Cyrus - More to Lose (Official Video)

"More to Lose" by Miley Cyrus is a heartfelt pop ballad that explores themes of love, vulnerability, and the complexities of relationships. Released in 2023, this emotional track showcases Miley's powerful vocals and introspective lyrics, resonating with listeners who appreciate her candid approach to personal experiences.

Lyrics:
The more I stay, the less I go
We’re toe to toe but I’m hanging on the wire
Stumbled down the same road before
Say I’m leaving but I’m only playing liar
’Cause when you’re looking like

A movie star in a worn out coat
Yeah, throw away my mind
It happens all the time

I stay when the ecstasy is far away
And I pray that it’s coming ’round again
And you say it
But I wish it wasn’t true
I knew someday that one would have to choose
I just thought we had more to lose

The TV’s on but I don’t know
My tears are streaming like our favorite show tonight
Memories fade like denim jeans
I try to chase when you’re running through my mind

’Cause god you’re looking like
You’re looking like
A movie star in a worn out coat
So I throw away my mind
It happens all the time

Oh, I stay when the ecstasy is far away
And I pray that it’s coming ’round again
And you say it
But I wish it wasn’t true
I knew someday that one would have to choose
I just thought we had more to lose

Na na na na na
Na na na na na
Yeah you’re looking like a movie star in a worn out coat
So I throw away my pride
It happens all the time
God, it happens all the time

Oh, I stay when the ecstasy is far away
And I pray that it’s coming ’round again
But it don’t, baby
And you say it
But I wish it wasn’t true
I knew someday that one would have to choose
I knew someday you’d do what I couldn’t do
I just thought we had more to lose

I tried making a switch to MixBus 32C (commercial implementation of Ardour) when version 8 came out. It couldn’t handle recording or playback of 24 tracks, plus it had issues with autocorrection of tempo & key signatures on external loops. So now I’m just using it as a platform for mixing, and for that task I love it. The EQ & built in limit/compress is awesome, the mix bussing is awesome and the saturation is awesome.
in reply to Alison Wilder

@GuitarSith yeah im still rolling on mixbus v 9 bc im not purchasing software from ssl. but i def have projects that large and didnt have problems with tracking. maybe you're setting the buffer too small?
but yeah if this version of mixbus gets tiring for me im going straight back to ardour fulltime. i just really like having an EQ and comp that i like and use built right into the mixer screen.
@PaulDavisTheFirst think theres a way we can hack some EQ knobs into ardour's mixer?
in reply to Alison Wilder

@benda
I’ve been working in Logic since version 3 when EMagic was still developing it, so I know it really well. I tend to struggle in other DAW’s because I find their workflow so different from what I’m familiar with. I can mix in Logic, but I find that MixBus just works so much better. It feels so much more like my analog days, which I really appreciate.

Jessica Simpson's "Take My Breath Away" is a captivating cover of the iconic 1986 hit by Berlin. The song, originally featured in the film "Top Gun," has been a staple in the world of romantic ballads. Simpson's rendition brings a fresh, contemporary twist to the classic, making it a beloved addition to her discography.

Lyrics:
Watchin' every motion
In this foolish lovers game
On this endless ocean
Finally lovers know no shame
Turnin' and returnin'
To some secret place inside
Watchin' in slow motion
As you turn around and say
My love

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watchin' I keep waiting
Still anticipatin' love
Never hesitatin'
To become the fated ones
Turnin' and returnin'
To some secret place inside
Watchin' in slow motion
As you turn around and say
My love

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Through the hourglass I saw you
In time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you
And turned to hear you say
If only for today
I am unafraid

Take my breath away
You take my breath away
You take my breath
You take my breath
You take my breath
Away
You take my breath away
You take my breath away...

Berlin - Take My Breath Away (From "Top Gun")

Berlin's official music video for 'Take My Breath Away'.

Watchin' every motion in my foolish lover's game
On this endless ocean, finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watchin' in slow motion as you turn around and say

"Take my breath away"

Take my breath away

Watchin', I keep waiting, still anticipating love
Never hesitating to become the fated ones
Turning and returning to some secret place to hide
Watchin' in slow motion as you turn to me and say

"My love, take my breath away"

Through the hourglass, I saw you
In time, you slipped away
When the mirror crashed, I called you
And turned to hear you say
"If only for today, I am unafraid"

Take my breath away

Take my breath away

Watchin' every motion in this foolish lover's game
Haunted by the notion, somewhere there's a love in flames
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watchin' in slow motion as you turn my way and say

"Take my breath away"
My love, take my breath away
My love, take my breath away, my love
You're mine, take my breath away, yeah, my love

@Spirillen I'm a believer that covers should do one of two things, 1) be so true to the original that they could be, or 2) be sufficiently different that the artist really makes it their own, Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt originally by Nine Inch Nails, or Social Distortions cover of Ring of Fire originally by Johnny Cash would be examples of the latter. In this cover by Jessica Simpson, she unfortunately does neither.
in reply to Nanook

I'm good. But thank you for the tip.

Just posted the video, because I like that she's quite balanced in her views. The subject matter will always trigger a level of controversy, esp. on lemmy. But the advice is pretty solid.

And if Mint isn't the answer, go with Ubuntu. Or Zorin OS. Or PopOS. All of them are "right" and provide excellent beginner experiences for many people.

LIVE BLOG: Israel Strikes Yemen | Jabaliya Massacre | Gaza Aid Slammed as ‘Waste’ – Day 599 #Palestine palestinechronicle.com/live-bl…

The American-Zionist “Aid-Distribution Centers” Are Mass Death Traps: PFLP

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine affirms that the occupation’s announcement of opening “humanitarian aid-distribution centers” in various areas of the Gaza Strip—run directly by the zionist occupier and financed and sponsored by the United States—amounts to setting up collective death traps. These sites serve as arrest points and instruments for entrenching racist policies, marketed under a “humanitarian” veneer while actually forming part of the genocidal war and Holocaust being waged against our people. They come amid a continuing siege and extermination campaign that targets civilians—especially children, women, and the elderly—and function as one of the occupation’s displacement schemes.

The Front views these centers as components of an integrated political-military apparatus aimed at emptying the Strip of its inhabitants and separating them from their homes, camps, and cities through direct humanitarian pressure: blocking aid from reaching residential areas to force people to converge on specific, fully occupation-controlled points. These spots then become gateways for mass expulsion and detention, a soft-focus remake of Nazi concentration camps that Netanyahu is trying to replicate.

The Popular Front warns our people against falling into these disguised traps and urges the masses to exercise extreme caution and not be lured by any false “humanitarian” slogans issued by killers and their backers.

The Front also calls on international and human-rights organizations to investigate immediately the purpose and role of these centers, to end silent complicity in the occupation’s crimes, to expose this new tool in its dirty war, and to insist that the proper alternative remains the UN agencies operating in Gaza—foremost UNRWA—which possess the manpower, logistics, effectiveness, and legal mandate to handle aid delivery.

Our people’s struggle for dignity and freedom cannot be reduced to a loaf of bread, nor to distribution points controlled by the occupier.

We reiterate: national dignity comes before all else. Our people will not submit and will not be dragged into the occupier’s attempt to engineer new field and demographic realities under the pretext of “aid.”

Title: Lorde – Team (Pure Heroine Album)
Music video by Lorde performing Team.

Lyrics:
Wait 'til you're announced
We've not yet lost all our graces
The hounds will stay in chains
Look upon Your Greatness and She'll
Send the call out, send the call out
Send the call out, send the call out
Send the call out, send the call out
Send the call out, send the call out
Send the call out, send the call out
Send the call out, send the call out
Send the call out, send the call out
Send the call out, send the call out

Call all the ladies out
They're in their finery
A hundred jewels on throats
A hundred jewels between teeth
Now bring my boys in
Their skin in craters like the moon
The moon we love like a brother
While he glows through the room

Dancin' around the lies we tell
Dancin' around big eyes, as well
Even the comatose
They don't dance and tell

We live in cities you'll never see on-screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we're on each other's team

I'm kind of over gettin' told to throw my hands up in the air
So there

So all the cups got broke
Shards beneath our feet
But it wasn't my fault
And everyone's competing
For a love they won't receive
'Cause what this palace wants is release

We live in cities you'll never see on-screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we're on each other's team

I'm kind of over gettin' told to throw my hands up in the air
So there
I'm kind of older than I was when I reveled without a care
So there

We live in cities you'll never see on-screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we're on each other's team

We're on each other's team

Jennifer Lopez - Love Don't Cost a Thing (Official HD Video)

"Love Don't Cost a Thing" by Jennifer Lopez is an empowering pop anthem that emphasises the importance of love over material possessions. Released in 2003, this catchy track features a vibrant melody and relatable lyrics, showcasing J.Lo's vocal talent and her ability to connect with audiences through themes of self-worth and genuine affection.

Lyrics:
Think you gotta keep me iced? You don't
Think I'm gonna spend your cash? I won't
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing
Think I wanna drive your Benz? I don't
If I wanna floss, I got my own
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing

When you rolled up in the Escalade
Saw that dub you gave to the valet
Knew that it was game when you looked at me
Pulling up your sleeve so I could see the Rolley bling
Saw you later in the corner booth
Raising up a toast so I would notice you
But your heart's a mess, think you oughta know
Doesn't matter if you're balling out of control

All that matters is
That you treat me right
Give me all the things I need
That money can't buy, yeah

Think you gotta keep me iced? You don't
Think I'm gonna spend your cash? I won't
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing
Think I wanna drive your Benz? I don't (ooh)
If I wanna floss, I got my own
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing

When I took a chance, thought you'd understand
Baby, credit cards aren't romance
Still, you're tryna buy what's already yours
What I need from is not available in stores
Seen a side of you that I really feel
Doing way too much, never keep it real
If it doesn't change, gotta hit the road
Now I'm leaving, where's my keys? I've got to go

All that matters is
That you treat me right
Give me all the things I need
That money can't buy, yeah

Think you gotta keep me iced? You don't
Think I'm gonna spend your cash? I won't (baby)
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing (love don't cost a thing)
Think I wanna drive your Benz? I don't
If I wanna floss, I got my own
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing

Love don't cost a thing, a thing, a thing
Yeah-yeah, yeah
You think the money that you make
Can substitute the time you take
To get the keys into my heart
Then you can win my heart, and get what's in my heart (don't cost a thing)
I think you need to take some time
To show me that your love is true (ooh)
There's more than dollar signs in you
Then you can win my heart, and get what's in my heart

Think you gotta keep me iced? You don't
Think I'm gonna spend your cash? I won't
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing
Think I wanna drive your Benz? I don't
If I wanna floss, I got my own
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing

Think you gotta keep me iced? You don't
Think I'm gonna spend your cash? I won't
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing
Think I wanna drive your Benz? I don't
If I wanna floss, I got my own
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing

Think you gotta keep me iced? You don't
Think I'm gonna spend your cash? I won't
Even if you were broke, my love don't cost a thing
