As one unelected judge after another rules against the Trump agenda, Republicans must decide if they want to abide by the will of the people. Executive orders are easily undone by the next administration, but codified law is far harder to undo. Yet House Republicans have largely been sitting on their hands, seemingly content to watch a term-limited Trump crank out executive orders while the minority Democrats go judge-shopping to undo the will of the American people.

Leqaa Kordia: The forgotten prisoner #Palestine mondoweiss.net/2025/06/leqaa-k…

This has been the craziest and scariest week . The pneumonia had returned as soon as my mother got out of the rehab facility. We took her to a bigger hospital and they put her on antibiotics and she became and still is delirious they call it delirium. the underlying infection and dope they give her has made her almost like mentally sick. I'm sad for my brother and sister because she is crying for them & asking what I did to them and why im hiding them . Her eyes are wide open but blank

There is hope for the future as long as there are kids like these. High school students uncovered and raised about 500 forgotten veteran grave markers at Mount Calvary Cemetery for Memorial Day!

When an instance like lemm.ee shuts down, what happens to the posts and comments?

While I understand the concept of federation I'm unclear as to what it actually entails at a technical level. When lemm.ee eventually shuts down, will all of that user content (posts, comments, votes, etc) cease to exist? Is it mirrored on other instances?
in reply to artifex

When Yiffit shutdown, Wander archived everything. Though I am not sure how or where... But it kinda tells me that without manually doing something with it, it will probably be lost.

Then again, the other day someone had replied to a post on a community on Yiffit. Can't log in to the instance, or make new top level posts, but navigating directly to an old link still apparently works and you can reply and everything. 🤷🏻‍♂️

For a practical test, search for kbin.social (and then ctrl+f for it also to get the direct results). Or, just look at a community: !kbinMeta@kbin.social

The only thing that appears missing is the ~~avatars~~ images. Though I assume the text content is doomed in the long-run when it comes to new instances, as I doubt re-federation (3rd-party federation) is a thing. Unless of course, someone manually crossposts said content.

🇿🇦 > Farm Attack happens WHILE we interview victim of other attack
@Jezza™ Well if they keep killing the white farmers to appropriate the land, sooner or later they are going to find themselves in the same place that Russia did after the Bolsheviks took all the land from the farmers, divided it up amongst the plebs who did not know how to farm, and then somewhere between 5-100 million people died (if you ask a leftists/socialists/communist they will say 5-10 million, if you ask a rightest/capitalist you will get 25-100 million, and given records weren't all that good we'll never really know the truth, but one person starving is too many, let alone five million. So the Racist Blacks in South Africa are going to learn the hard way that the farmers they killed were feeding their faces when they go hungry.

Anyone noticing Firefox not letting you use the address bar in some windows?

This is a very recent thing I've had happening, presumably since an update. I will often have multiple FF windows open. In one of the windows, I'll suddenly not be able to place my cursor in the address bar on any tab. But other FF windows function fine. I have to close that window and start a new instance or drag a tab from a working window to another screen, then that will work fine for an unpredictable time.

I have no idea what specific thing I might be doing that touches this off, as far as I can tell I'm just browsing. I thought maybe I had a child dialog opening in a hidden window, but it must be hidden pretty good because I can't find it if I do.

Removing fluoride from water could result in 25 million cavities and cost $9.8 billion, study estimates

@CBS News Although if one really wants fluoride for their teeth they can go to a dentist and get fluoride treatments or they can buy a fluoridated toothpaste. The toothpaste companies will be glad to sell you pulp-mill waste if they can't dump it in city reservoirs. Per Google, and they are conservative and usually happy to allow you to be poisoned, these are some problems fluoride can cause.

1. Fluorosis:

Dental Fluorosis: Occurs when children are exposed to high concentrations of fluoride while their teeth are still developing. This can lead to discoloration, white spots, streaks, or even pitting and enamel damage, but generally doesn't affect the health or function of the teeth. Severe dental fluorosis is rare in the U.S. and is not caused by the recommended levels of fluoride in public tap water.
Skeletal Fluorosis: A bone disease resulting from long-term exposure to high levels of fluoride, leading to pain, stiffness, bone deformities, and an increased risk of fractures. It can cause bones to become hardened and less elastic, and in severe cases, crippling skeletal fluorosis can result in calcification of ligaments and joint immobility. Skeletal fluorosis is extremely rare in the United States and is not caused by standard amounts of fluoride in public water.
Non-skeletal Fluorosis: An early stage of skeletal fluorosis affecting the gastrointestinal tract, causing symptoms like abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, or loss of appetite.

2. Neurological Issues:

Potential link to lower IQ in children: Some studies suggest that high fluoride exposure in pregnancy or early life could be linked to lower IQ or behavioral issues in children. However, research results are mixed, and most experts believe the evidence is weak, with no link found between normal fluoride levels in U.S. tap water (0.7 mg/L) and lower IQ. The Yale School of Public Health also mentions that recent research observed these negative effects at fluoride levels that were more than double the amounts recommended for U.S. community water fluoridation programs.

3. Thyroid Problems:

Possible effect on the parathyroid gland: In some cases, excessive fluoride may affect the parathyroid gland, potentially leading to hyperparathyroidism, which can weaken bone structure.
Potential interference with thyroid hormone production: Fluoride may interfere with iodine's ability to produce thyroid hormones, potentially leading to hypothyroidism. Studies show that fluoride may take up iodine receptor sites in the thyroid gland, potentially causing iodine deficiency.

4. Other potential problems:

Acute toxicity: Ingesting large amounts of fluoride in a short period can lead to abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, seizures, and other severe reactions.

You are a fucking disgrace! This is just flat out proof that many of you guys are no more libertarian than the Gary Johnson types who want to force vaccines into children and bakeries to bake gay cakes. You are willing to suck deep state cock if the agent in question LARPs as a libertarian.
