Laura Jedeed, "What I Saw in #LA Wasn’t an Insurrection. It Was a Police Riot."
thenation.com/article/activism…

Jedeed doesn't mention a notable earlier use of the phrase "police riot" in the US. So let me inject a bit of history.

I remember the violence in the streets at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
thecollector.com/chicago-riots…

I was even indoors at the convention at the time. My step-father was a delegate and I attended on a guest pass.

The National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence asked Dan Walker to lead an investigation into the violence. He and 200 staffers studied film footage, reviewed FBI reports, and interviewed more than 1,400 witnesses. In the end, the "Walker Report" referred to the police violence against protesters, journalists, and bystanders as a "police riot".

Walker was no radical. He was a Naval officer, Korean War vet, executive at Montgomery Ward, campaign chair for Adlai Stevenson III, and Governor of Illinois, 1973-77.

The five injured people – including the children, aged six, seven and 12 – were taken to hospital, according to Wafa, which cited the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

From the Saturday Paper 14 Jun

Industry sources reveal drug companies have stopped negotiating listings on the PBS and in some cases are considering not listing in Australia as they seek to lift profits under Trump. By Jason Koutsoukis.
Exclusive: PBS listings frozen over Trump’s executive order

<<Australia’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme has been effectively frozen since May, after United States President Donald Trump issued an order to change how pharmaceutical companies price drugs.

Industry sources say drug companies have stopped listing new medicines with the scheme, hoping Trump’s order will allow them to lift prices for Australia.

At the centre of the dispute is Trump’s May 12 executive order reviving his controversial “Most Favored Nation” pricing proposal, a populist idea floated during his first term.

The premise is simple: the United States should pay no more for medicines than the lowest price paid by peer nations. In a globalised pharmaceutical market, the proposal could curtail Australia’s access to cheaper medicines.

By linking US prices to those in countries such as Australia – where the federal government uses rigorous health technology assessments to drive hard bargains with drug companies – Trump’s policy threatens to upend the commercial logic of launching new drugs in smaller, lower-priced markets.

“We are hearing that in the headquarters of companies, that they are having this conversation about the US’s Most Favored Nation policy and what that flow-on effect would have across the world,” says Sue MacLeman, chair of Medicines Australia, the pharmaceutical industry’s peak representative body.

“And companies may delay application for both product registration in Australia through the Therapeutic Goods Administration, and also reimbursement through the PBS of new medicines as they seek to avoid us referencing to prices that undervalue innovation and affect global prices.”

If Australian PBS prices become a global benchmark – not just in Europe and the Asia-Pacific, but for US health insurers – drug companies may simply stop offering Australia competitive deals. Worse, they may not offer the product at all.>>

100% … also applies here. the more things change, the more they stay the same.

this excerpt is about the statute of labourers 1350

<<As a result of these statutes, there was a cap on wages; prohibitions on quitting; and geographical limits on where work could be sought. The alter- native for the worker was prison. The regulation of the nonworking poor depended completely on whether the poor person was able to work. If they were able to work, the choice was work at the wages offered or prison. If they could not work, then they were not prohibited from begging. While these laws continued to be modified by later laws, examination of these statutes show comprehensive regulation of the working and the nonworking poor.9' Indeed, the concerns for beggars and laborers were intertwined: "[t]he King and his lords saw begging, movement and vagrancy, and the labor shortage as essen- tially the same problem, to be dealt with in one law .... The beggar, in the concern of the Statute of Laborers, was not a problem in destitution but a seepage from the supply of labor.">>

certainly not but thats part of the goal. another example for the world to see and to put pressure on their respective governments to stand up for their own citizens. this video specifically is also really important for people who don't understand the dynamic to see. the arab governments, egypt first and foremost, dont really oppose israel. their so subservient to the cause they'll beat their own citizens and the citizens of other countries on israel's behalf.

It's about a week until we sail from southern Spain towards southern Italy.

We've started 're-assembling' our boat for seagoing after seven months of boat-camping on the dock (including a month ashore in a boatyard): we've rigged the headsail and tested its furler, laced on dodgers, shackled fore/aft safety lines, tested VHFs (we have three) and navigation lights, and run the engine in gear, forward and astern.

Tonight I'm updating my Navionics charts on both our iPhone and iPad. I've also looking over a set of new, large scale charts for the Western Med, along with hand-me-down pilot books for the Spanish west coast, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, and southern and western coasts of mainland italy.

Prison Revolt in New Jersey Ends in Four Escapes

On Thursday June 12, 50 prisoners at Delaney Hall, the privately owned ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey, banded together and pushed down the wall of a dormitory room. Four men managed to escape.

Attorney Mustafa Cetin reported: “Based on what he told me it was an outer wall, not very strong, and they were able to push it down.”

Organizations representing some of the detainees reported that Thursday afternoon’s unrest was started by detainees frustrated over inadequate food, missed meal times and other concerns, including boiling water in the pipes and a lack of family visitation.

The four men that escaped are Franklin Norberto Bautista-Reyes and Joel Enrique Sandoval-Lopez, both of Honduras, and Joan Sebastian Casteneda-Lozada and Andres Pineda-Mogollon, both from Colombia.

Immigration attorney Mustafa Cetin said he spoke Thursday evening to one of his clients detained at Delaney Hall. He said his client told him a group of about 50 detainees protested conditions, like lack of food, and some attacked guards. Some of them pushed down a exterior wall, and escaped to the ground by tying bedsheets together into a rope, he said.

People from the community rushed to the site to show support. On previous evenings, many had gathered outside Delaney Hall for a nightly vigil and were speaking to visiting family members.

Sayyed Houthi Underlined Palestinian Resistance Feats against Zionist Enemy in Gaza

Head of Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement Sayyed Abdul Malik Badreddine Al-Houthi indicated on Thursday that the extermination rate among the population in Gaza has reached nearly 9% — an extremely high and unprecedented level in modern warfare.

In a televised speech, Sayyed Houthi maintained that the American enemy is engineering this extermination through starvation, coupled with mass killing via death traps and execution centers.

The “Israeli” enemy is forcing Palestinians to choose between dying of hunger or approaching so-called aid distribution centers to be killed, he noted, adding that targeting those waiting for aid is among the most heinous crimes and worst forms of exploitation.

Sayyed Houthi pointed out the “Israeli” enemy has blocked aid entry through the United Nations for over 100 days to turn its centers into traps of extermination and execution.

“Zionists continue almost daily storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, performing their Talmudic rituals, mocking dances, and expressing hostility toward Islam and Muslims.”

The “Israeli” decision to build 22 new settlements in the West Bank equates to a massive land seizure, he added.

“Practically, building new settlements ends the concept of a “two-state solution” as promoted by the UN and others. The Israeli enemy never intended to implement a two-state solution — it was merely a tactic of deception.”

Sayyed Houthi emphasized that the brave fighters in Gaza continue to confront the “Israeli” enemy with strength and effectiveness, inflicting direct losses, adding that there are precise, successful ambushes, and the enemy’s weekly losses testify to the effectiveness of these operations.

“Al-Qassam Brigades conducted over 16 diverse operations this week, including targeting vehicles and sniping enemy soldiers. The weekly losses of the Israeli enemy are significant, highlighting the resistance’s bravery, steadfastness, and impact.”

All Lebanese should rally further around the Resistance in Lebanon and Hezbollah as the true safeguard against the “Israeli” threat, Sayyed Houthi maintained.

“The support front from Yemen, the land of faith and jihad, continues its military operations in the battle of the Promised Conquest and Sacred Jihad, striking deep into occupied Palestine.”

Our operations this week are part of the continuous effort to impose an aerial blockade on the “Israeli” enemy, Sayyed Houthi maintained.

“Our forces aim to achieve this aerial blockade in response to the enemy’s escalation and its genocidal crimes. The naval blockade in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Bab Al-Mandeb remains ongoing; navigation for the Israeli enemy is banned, and it has ceased operations in the area of engagement.”

Impossible problems:

1. The Deep State vs The People
2. Israel vs Gaza and vs Iran
3. Russia/Ukraine
4. Inflated fiat money system
5. Corruption

And so on.

These impossible problems became fixtures in all of our lives. They became assumptions regarding reality because everyone pretty much gave up on fixing them. Impossible (seemingly) problems are the cause and the core of citizen apathy.

"The US quietly delivered hundreds of Hellfire missiles to Israel before its unprecedented attack on Iran on Friday, Middle East Eye can reveal.

The US sent around 300 Hellfire missiles to Israel on Tuesday in a large-scale stock-up of supplies before its attack, and as the Trump administration was saying it was ready to continue engaging Iran in nuclear talks.

The transfer of such a large quantity of Hellfires suggests that the Trump administration was well-informed of Israel’s plans to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran, two US officials told MEE on the condition of anonymity. "
