Do you suffer from software nostalgia?

I just got a new laptop, put Debian 13 on it, installed Plasma, started configuring all the tools. Everything works great but when I get to set up the screensaver I realize it's Wayland. So no xscreensaver. So no IFS.

I had those fractals welcoming me when my computer wakes up probably for 20 years now. Now I'm supposed to just setup normal lock screen and move on? Nope. xdm, .xsessionrc, xscreensaver. Now it feels like home again.

But it's stupid, right? Just use new tools. They have more features. Better integrations. I'm still thinking about switching back to Wayland...

So, do you suffer from software nostalgia (a term I just made up)? Do you stick to good old tools even when the modern replacements are better? Or do you always chase the latest tools without looking back?

Guys I trust you more than random search results. How do you deal with an avoidant woman? Specially to people who are normal users (friends who don't care or don't know how to) and by now a few had say yes. Some just install these apps without a problem. Sometimes I just tell them:"you probably have a dozen apps that you don't use, so why not this one so we can message?"

Ceux qui ont fui, comme les habitants de Kafr Bir’im (expulsés en 1948, village détruit en 1953), d’Iqrit (expulsés en 1948, village rasé en 1951), de Ma’alul, al-Manshiyya, ou encore de Saffuriyya, étaient des familles chrétiennes ou mixtes, délogées sans autre forme de procès.

Les pays qui se disent « culturellement chrétiens » n’ont jamais levé le petit doigt pour permettre à ces familles de revenir sur leurs terres, ou même de réclamer un État chrétien en Palestine.
