What the #Media Won’t Tell You: #Iran

in reply to nowisthetime

Trump has volunteered the US military as an instrument for Israel, a genocidal foreign colonial implant, to attack a sovereign country that posed no threat to the US

Trump did so in violation of the Constitution and against the wishes of the overwhelming majority of the American public

Trump allowed Israel to exploit American diplomacy as a ruse and made no effort to explain the logic of going to war to the American public

Trump even ended his speech announcing the attacks by declaring, “god bless Israel”

So now it is clear and beyond debate: we live under a Zionist regime that hates us and which will sacrifice us for its ethnosupremacist agenda

And we will reap a whirlwind

Laptops are not generally designed to run like that with a closed lid. Heat dissipation is designed around the idea the laptop is open and some of it is through the keyboard surface. The lid closed would change that.

Systems can of course be setup to power off the display but for server/service uses open laptops may not be efficient space wise.

Having said that if the scenario is low power use the heat dissipation may not be a major issue. But if there is an unremovable battery i'd still be concerned about heat dissipation with the lid closed and even just the battery itself regardless of heat dissipiation.

Happy ruleversary
in reply to jballs

I remember 2 years ago trying out Lemmy and getting a few laughs about beans and trying not to poop. I thought "this is ok, but I don't think this will ever replace Reddit in my day to day."

But I stuck with it and have come to love and appreciate Lemmy. The number of users has continued to grow and I feel like there's enough content here now that I never feel bored. Plus I feel like even small posts and comments get attention and we're not just screaming into the void.

So happy cake day to all who did the same thing!

10:42 Israel has targeted three hospitals and six ambulances so far, Iran's Health Minister Mohammadreza Zafarghandi said. english.masirahtv.net/news/358…

I don’t know what’s going to happen now

…but here are some options from a foreign-policy standpoint as laid out by The Atlantic. Seems a reasonable summary to me.

What it completely leaves out is that this is a direct violation of the War Powers Act, the UN Charter (to which the US is signatory), and even the National Security Act. I guess that’s not important anymore.

Correctly, there are calls for impeachment tonight from outside and within Congress. I suggest you write whoever you’ve got up there to do the same. But I do not expect it to go anywhere; I am absolutely confident the MAGAts will find a way to justify their 100% spin on the “peace president” and why bombing Iran – an absolute act of war – is just fine and all the more reason to worship their shit-stain incarnate God Emperor.

I’ve got a short essay going up tomorrow morning at 7:48am. If you know why 7:48am on Sunday is an important time, you’ll probably have some idea what it’s about. You’re probably not completely right – but you’re quite certainly not really wrong, either.

For the rest of you?

It’s about infamy.

Murders of medics in Gaza

To be very clear, the enrichment sites bombed by the US and Israel in Iran will more than likely not cause a release of radiation into the atmosphere or even local population centers.

Following recent bombings the IAEA already reported only contamination WITHIN the facilities, and that most of their concern was chemical.

Whatever radiological impact will occur will be infinitely eclipsed by the deaths a follow-on war will cause. Let's focus our energy on preventing that.

Thomas Keith: Iranian sources now confirm Fordow is intact. Only 2 munitions struck surface-level access points. No deep-penetration, no cascade collapse, no reactor kill.

Fordow was built to withstand nuclear war. A single flyby doesn’t erase hardened bunkers buried 80 meters deep behind reinforced mountain rock.

This wasn’t a successful strike. It was a narrative op. Aimed at markets, voters, and momentum. But the physics of Fordow don’t bend to spin. @iran x.com/iwasnevrhere_/status/193…

Remarkable advance in basic chemistry: Researchers have created hexanitrogen, composed of six bound nitrogen atoms. It's the most energetic molecule ever made!

If it can be made & stored in bulk (big if) it could be a powerful rocket fuel or energy storage material.

From what I read, the strikes against Fordow were largely unsuccessful, with no damage to the actual installations. Similar can be said about Natanz and Isfahan. So this was an attack with limited to no success, that will put #Iran in a situation where they HAVE to respond. This response can easily trigger an open war, maybe even a war declaration (the only thing the Democrats are complaining about).

@CosmickTrigger i think they wont hit u.s. over it. iran really only hasa few cards in this whole situation. inflicting massive damage quickly or slowly, against israel, and/or the u.s.
the u.s. is almost certainly suicide. it is a deterrent. its the final deterrent to defend the state. the bee's sting.
but they cant back down from israel. bc thats a fair fight and its a matter of honor. with respect to Israel, CosmickTrigger's crude analogy is more appropriate. there is no reason to stop hitting israel until they surrender and stop the genocide.

Trump says US has attacked three nuclear sites in Iran

Well, fuck. Now I guess we get to find out. Bee sure to tune in at 2200 Eastern for whatever rambling mess Trump is going to spout off.

I hate weekends.

Donald Trump announced Saturday that the US had completed strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran, directly joining Israel ’s effort to destroy the country’s nuclear program in a risky gambit to weaken a longtime foe amid Tehran’s threat of reprisals that could spark a wider regional conflict.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” Trump said in a post on social media. “All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.”

Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he added.

The White House alerted television networks that Trump would address the nation at 10 p.m. EDT.

Nanook doesn't like this.

Trump Has Bombed Iran. What Happens Next Is His Fault.

The US is the only nation on earth that can rival Israel in its ability to play the victim when the ball they’ve thrown at the wall bounces back.

The USA has made it clear that only nuclear armed countries are considered sovereign by the Empire. North Korea is weak in every other way, but is treated as an equal. The long term outcome of that is that every small nation will want nuclear weapons.

Nuclear weapons for small nations is the same argument as gun rights for individuals: it's the only thing that deters a bully. By being a bully, the Empire makes everyone want the only weapon that seems to deter the Empire.

MacOS Preview equivalent

Title mostly says it all. Preview is unironically an incredible piece of software. Between feature set and ease of use, I have yet to come across any FOSS that is comparable. Anyone know of a Linux alternative?

EDIT: Due to popular demand I should explain Preview more. It’s a “fully fledged” PDF editor, but somehow it’s completely different from something like Adobe Acrobat. The way most users will interact with it is as a seemingly very plain image viewer, but if you open a PDF you can add fillable boxes, rearrange pages, split and merge PDFs, etc. I cannot place exactly why it’s workflows feel so much better than something like Acrobat.

I’m already running Linux. I’m looking for an application that can run on Linux that roughly matches the feature set of MacOS Preview for image and PDF viewing and basic editing.

HEARD... #Pakistan just granted #USA military permission to enter and operate in their water space. It's closer to #Iran. This, according to my CNA who has a lot of relatives back there. So a tip, possibly accurate...? US has staged from there before.

Analysis: Did Israel strike Iran when it did while soon-to-retire Gen Michael Kurilla is still commander of U.S. Central Command?

In April, Israel news outlet Ynet coined Kurilla as “The U.S. general Israel doesn’t want to strike Iran without.”

responsiblestatecraft.org/kuri…

#Kurilla #Iran #USPol #EuroPol #Israel .

Analysis: "Israel's criminal attack on Iran is based on lies"

But western media just offers more cover for more crimes.

Netanyahu "warned of an imminent Iranian nuclear bomb in 1992, 1995, 2002, 2009 & 2012."

We recall the 2003 lie that Hussein’s Iraq could “deploy chemical or biological weapons within 45 minutes of an order to do so”.

Now we get the lie that an Iranian nuclear bomb is imminent.

#Israel-IranAttacks #USLies #USPol #UKPol #EuroPol #CdnPoli .

okay everyone, here's Khameni's response after the bombings, with english subtitles. bc everyone is out here acting stupid.
note that after the attack he still uses the hypothetical "IF" the united states chooses to enter this conflict.
hours after the fact, i am still convinced that everyone (except netanyhu i guess?) knows this shit's for shows, the iranians suffered a bruise and said they will seek "legal action".
the only question here is whether or not israel keeps hitting. if they do, iran will keep hitting back and i guess over the last week we learned that israel ain't shit. they can massacre a couple hundred more iranians, but it seems even with 3-4 western navies in the mediterranean helping with missile defense, they're taking too many hits. israel is a speck of a country people. you can't just be losing a couple buildings every night.
and then IF israel hits back we'll see something interesting. whether trump will go in or not. after tonight, i'm genuinely convinced he doesn't *want* to go in. he's willing to put on a show for the neo-cons but he really doesn't *want* to sully his name. he won't *want* to do anything that'll make the iranians hit u.s. assets (except israel bc they started it). it doesn't mean he won't be pressured. but that's what trump signaled tonight.

Lety Does Playing on a Playground V

in reply to Chiamouse

Hihi! Thanks so much for watching my video!

As I mentioned around the one-minute mark, I filmed this before noon on a school day when I knew children would be in class and made sure the playground was completely empty.

Additionally, this playground is tucked behind dense greenery. The only ways in are either across a narrow 500-meter open lawn or over an old wooden bridge through the trees, both routes giving me at least a one to two–minute heads-up if anyone was approaching.

I also strongly reject the idea that playgrounds are especially off-limits to adults. Like any other open area in a municipal park, they are public spaces funded by community members' tax dollars, including my own. Though some public spaces may prioritize specific demographics, when no one is around, they are all neutral environments.

Calling private conduct inherently predatory just because of a location, especially when that location is empty and no one is affected, completely waters down the seriousness of real predatory behavior.

Sexual misconduct is about power dynamics and consent. Such behaviors become harmful when someone imposes themselves on another person, abusing their position of power and authority.

None of that was applicable here, as I was alone. There was no one to pressure, no one to expose myself to, no one to involve in any way.

I truly apologize if I caused any offense, but I stand by the care I take to respect legal boundaries and ensure the absolute safety of others.

Hihi! Lety here, auto-commenting from my main account (which doesn't have a 🔕 icon)!

This is how my PeerTube videos look on other Fediverse platforms!

Remotely interact with this video using an account on an ActivityPub-powered platform like Mastodon Social! Just click the “Add comment...” box under any PeerTube video and enter your Fedi handle in the pop-up. That’ll direct you to the federated post for that video on whatever platform you use.

Or, if you’re already logged in on Mastodon or wherever you're seeing this message, just look at the post I’m responding to!

Replies and favorites on that post show up as comments and likes on PeerTube, and following the account that posted it subscribes you to my videos.

Heads up, though! While some platforms might allow you to respond with custom emojis, gifs, images, polls, and reactions, most of that fancy stuff won’t show up correctly on PeerTube. The same goes for any edits you might want to make to your response unless you delete & re-draft.

If you already know all this or are tired of seeing this wall of text, you can hide these explanation posts by going to your account preferences and creating a new filter with the title and keyword “#LetyDoesPeerTubeExplainer” and all context boxes checked.

Thanks so much for watching! ⚡⚡⚡
