Gaza has become a place where the conditions are so systematically destructive and dehumanizing that its inhabitants exist in a state between life and death - where normal human existence has been made impossible through deliberate policy.

Israel's systematic destruction of Gaza over 88 weeks that has killed nearly 56,000 Palestinians, including over 15,000 children, while displacing 1.9 million people are crimes.

Hansen shows how US officials privately acknowledged Israeli war crimes while publicly defending them. State Department resignees describe how the Biden administration ignored clear evidence of deliberate aid blocking and civilian targeting, with one official stating that Biden administration officials "completely forfeit any right to critique the Trump administration for lack of morals" after laying the groundwork for lawlessness.

Both governments have deliberately shattered the post-WWII international legal order, creating what the author calls a "death world" in Gaza through systematic violations of humanitarian law.

Spirit in Ashes. Hegel, Heidegger, and Man-Made Mass

[1985]Edith Wyschogrod's concept of the "death world" is a philosophical and ethical framework she developed to understand the phenomenon of man-made mass death in the modern era.

In her book "Spirit in Ashes: Hegel, Heidegger, and Man-Made Mass Death", she argues that events such as the #Holocaust, the use of nuclear weapons, genocides, famines, and forced deportations are not isolated incidents but part of a single global phenomenon she calls the "death event." This event has radically altered the meaning of self, time, and language in human experience.

Wyschogrod defines the "death world" as a new and unique form of social existence where populations live under conditions simulating death, effectively becoming "the living dead." This includes three main expressions:

1. Wars deploying weapons designed for maximum human destruction,

2. The intentional use of famine, deportation, and dislocation to destroy populations,

3. The creation of death worlds, such as concentration camps, where life is reduced to a state of ongoing death.

The concept of secure boot and the TPM and BitLocker and all that stuff is somewhere between protection against hackers with hands on access to your system, protection against rootkits infecting the boot sector, protecting the average amateur end user from themselves doing something dumb, and keeping you in the Micro$haft ecosystem.

If you're fairly comfortable that none of these should be a significant risk to you, then I'd say disable it and do whatever you want with your own system without all the headaches.

Something like TeXstudio, but for markdown?

On occasion, I'll have to work with markdown files, sometimes with inline LaTeX. I'm surprised how limited my options are, or I'm looking in the wrong places. Pandoc does the job, but the lack of a integrated graphical workflow isn't my cup of tea.

Has anyone found a good graphical markdown editor that can handle inline LaTeX and doesn't pull a gigabyte of dependencies? Preferably also can render the final output to PDF.

Iran has bombed our ships, our bases, terrorist attacks all over the West, killed our soldiers and civilians. They threatened the President's life. It's not only in the National Interest, but also in Trump's interest, same with removing gangs and terrorists. Did anybody even get killed in this attack? I'll wait for Hamas to say 5,000 people were killed! They kill their own, too. You'd think there wouldn't be any left after 60 yrs.

This is a HUGE problem, for the climate hysterics, as all their predictions went out the window. They NEEDED the Arctic and Antarctic to keep warming and losing ice.

The Antarctic getting colder and gaining ice represents a complete rejection of their CO2 warming conjecture. As with the "missing heat" from 1998 to 2014, they claim that this is "just a temporary trend change" and that warming will continue shortly, but that's just the thing - the cooling periods invalidate all their claims. They weren't supposed to happen and do not show up in their models, i.e. the hypotheses underlying their models are wrong.
