When this case first came out, I was talking to a relatively senior Finnish journalist about freedom of the press in Finland. We came to the conclusion that Finland's then best in the world ranking on press freedom was entirely down to the fact that the press had never wanted anything that the government wasn't ok with having in the papers. This decision is broadly incompatible with freedom of expression. Prosecuting folks who agreed to keep state secrets is one thing. Accusing journalists of treason, let alone convicting them, for publishing material that in their professional opinion was newsworthy is completely unacceptable. The Finnish national security bureaucracy does and must not be above the constraints of international human rights law, and must not be permitted to either constrain a priori or decide post hoc what is in the national interests. I assume this will be appealed and that the Finnish Supreme Court (or, failing them, the European Court of Human Rights) does the right thing. This case has already caused a significant chilling effect on Finnish journalism — already not in a great position — and this is happening at a time when Finland's national security position and responsibilities are changing rapidly. We need transparency and accountability in the national security bureaucracy now more than ever.

For the love of god if you're trying to convince your employer or an organization to "come over" to the #Fediverse, do NOT under any circumstances suggest that they set up a #Mastodon #instance!

Mastodon is the ONLY Fediverse platform that ... by default ... forces #server #admins to #cache, #copy, and #proxy all #media that passes through its server. This means that not only are server admins paying to host the media their users #upload, but they have to pay to host the media everyone else on the fucking fediverse uploads as well.
Other platforms offer this feature, but Mastodon is the only one that has this turned on by default.
This results in Mastodon server admins having to shell out thousands of dollars each month in #S3 hosting costs for no reason whatsoever.

There are much better alternative instance platforms than Mastodon.

BTW, when the Big Tech bros wax poetic about eliminating passwords by requiring passkeys, you can bet they probably don't deal with anyone who doesn't have a phone and whose only access to the Internet is public computers like in libraries. And please don't suggest that someone who may have all their possessions in a shopping cart carry and use a Yubikey (even if USB ports weren't blocked on public computers, as they often are). Decades ago I had lots of problems, but I will focus on my physical pain

I had back pain and hip pain like an old man

A doctor told me that I had something he called a "short nerve costume" And last night I finally understood why

I had IBS and had lost a lot of muscles
When we loose muscle mass, since the muscles are quite tall, they don't only shrink in width, they get shorter

So lifting will counter age related stiffness too.

Exactly.
I was in bad condition when I started this journey with just push ups.

But 2 things. first I had no idea how weak I had become. Second it was reall heavy the first weeks but soon it got easier and I was never expecting this. But after 1 year I broke the records of my youth in some compound moves.

Now I train all year around and my work feels less tiresome. I feel stronger, lighter and have more energy

And this is the best part, push ups only takes like 1 minute.

How are universities and centres of research & learning involved?

Sometimes their contribution is financial and material. (Viz. EU Horizon money channelled to zionist entities; research for weapons and surveillance tools.)

But universities' role is also, especially, ideological. Offering respectability and legitimacy to entities that are in truth neither respectable nor legitimate.

  1. To impose sanctions and a full arms embargo on Israel, including all existing agreements and dual-use items such as technology and civilian heavy machinery; 2. To suspend or prevent all trade agreements and investment relations, and impose sanctions, including asset freezes, on entities and individuals involved in activities that may endanger the Palestinians;
  2. To enforce accountability, ensuring that corporate entities face legal consequences for their involvement in serious violations of international law.

Detectives These Days Are Crazy! Episode 1 Impressions

Went into this blind, but knew it was a comedy. Didn't know it was this much of a gag comedy.

It has good animations and character designs. The characters themselves are fun. I really like the comedy dynamic between Kei and Mashiro.

I couldn't stop laughing through this first episode. This is so stupid and hilarious. Can't wait for further episodes.
