@evacide@hachyderm.io I've already removed Gemini via adb once. I'll do it again if it comes back after this forced opt-in. I am not going to tell anyone that the Gemini app package is actually called com.google.android.apps.bard.IOC.exchange

Apple's already done plenty of evil, just not (so far as we know) *that* kind. And, yeah, in general they have a bit more panache. For now. But, as we know, things change. Because that's where all the incentives point. Just like there are no worthy & admirable billionaires, there are no worthy corporations.

We have allowed corporate lobbyists and propaganda to weaken government regulatory powers and that’s been a big mistake. Without that balance, corporations don’t need to benefit society, just their shareholders.

That is the nature of this system.
Capitalism incentivizes abuse by valuing profit above all else. Corruption begets corruption. Wealth and power are used to capture regulations and bend them to gain more wealth and power that is used to bend regulations for more money and power round and round we go and the final, inevitable form of this type of system is corporate feudalism. That's how it works by its inherent nature.
