I just realized this whole thing is PROBABLY a marketing ploy.
I mean, I'm sure they're actually making hardened XC90s, and I'm sure they pass the tests they say they pass, but are the people who need a hardened vehicle using a Volvo?
IMO not really.
Volvo is "luxury" in the sense of a lawyer's car, not like oligarch transport from the airport to the WEF convention. Real oligarchs will be riding in Maybach, Rolls Royce, etc and they don't mind having the car retrofitted by a 3rd party.
So is this going to sell a lot of units? IMO not really. But as a branding move, it's brilliant. Volvo, which has long been regarded as the car of a responsible father with a well paying profession, is CLAIMING to be appropriate for the monied class. People with real enemies (often deserved) and real risk of being assassinated while they leave the climate change conference.

Never trust the transport security or that the software will ensure that everything is encrypted correctly. If you encrypt yourself, you are proceeding safely and your security should be worth it when it comes to digital resistance.
