Le président n'a pas fourni de détails supplémentaires sur cet accord, qui marque sa première approbation de transferts d'armes offensives vers l'Ukraine depuis son retour au pouvoir. @fm2279 I agree, but my request has nothing to do with that. It's possible to have gun reform legislation that does not infringe upon other Second Amendment rights, as many other states have done. (I'll reserve further comment on what I think of the Second Amendment, but you can probably guess.)
If you're not talking about the given example, then it's hard for readers to have any idea at all what it is you want Daughtry (and Maine Dems) to do.
A lot of the bills that have come out of the offices of Southern Maine Dems have been pretty rightly panned by lots of folks, including the ACLU (e.g. the ill-conceived ten-round limit on semi-automatics).
@fm2279 Under Maine law, municipalities are allowed to regulate where and when residents may shoot guns. Most communities in our area do so, but ours won't. I've asked for legislation that would make it mandatory. That legislation would not in any way infringe upon a resident's right to own firearms. It would merely stop them from taking target practice in the backyard (an utterly pointless activity) and frightening unsuspecting neighbors.
@fm2279 The state could make it an issue. As I'm sure you know, Maine municipalities have home rule. They can do as they please, as long as their actions do not violate state or federal law. If the state makes it mandatory, the municipality would have to abide. Hence my messages to Mattie Daughtry. I'm aware of the prospects of passage, but you have to start somewhere. Unless one cares more about staying in power than solving problems.
Nah, guns are and have been a state-wide issue for quite some time, politically and otherwise. This is not a local problem of bad neighbors. Children dying by guns is a significant issue: death by firearms is the second leading cause of death among children and teenagers in Maine. That's unacceptable, and sensible gun laws/sensible enforcement of existing laws would almost surely help. @michaelmagras@mstdn.social

@abucci I think you're talking about how guns are dangerous as a very general concern, while I (and I thought we) were talking about a specific problem with discharge of firearms within a local jurisdiction that has the power to regulate it but doesn't.
Those aren't the same thing.
And I want to be friendly here because I've found our interactions to be pleasant in the past, but I'm not sure the way you've jumped in and out of the thread here is the gold standard for "rational".

I reacted to the statement that gun-related issues and laws in Maine are a local problem, which they very clearly are not. The specific one at hand, a person using a firearm in their yard, might be framed as a local/municipal problem if one were inclined to ignore the context in which it's occurring. But I am not so inclined. Furthermore, it's a perfectly reasonable and valid political act to petition your state to take action that your municipality will not, and force it to be a statewide issue that needs to be addressed (which it is, and has been, for some time). That's how politics works. I found your responses here--that it's "just a local problem"--to be needlessly dismissive of an important issue. I'd also like to keep things friendly, but I don't find dismissiveness like that to be very friendly.

Ich bin aufgrund der einfacheren Handhabung der weniger technisch versierten Familie von keepass zu Vaultarden mit den bitwarden clients umgestiegen. Dies wird im Gegensatz zu keepass von der Familie auch angenommen und genutzt. Hier sind gemeinsame Passwort-Speicher und auch komplette übernahmen im Todes oder schweren Krankeheitsfall möglich.

Yeah, great idea! DNS, while decentralised, is still becoming a problem as a lot of critical parts are controlled by corporate entities which at times do not cut it. However recreating it on the same technological stack with different people at the helm would make little sense IMO and would be just siphoning resources. I think we have to explore what modern approaches to decentralised name resolution exist and maybe build on that, filling the missing parts and creating a compatibility layer. E.g. TOR works, I have privoxy that redirects everything .onion to TOR network, but it's slow as a snirtle.

For favourite, boost and bookmark I've used the set that I already use in my BloatFE and the rest are just initial rough ideas — which, I have to admit, aren't perfect: crossed out speaker and crossed out bell, garbage bin and big red cross are a bit confusing as to what they might mean — we'll see if I can come up with something better.
And I've also brought back Mastodon's famous "toot" button. Yes, the one with the elephant 😏

Works with TUI software too, hehe's tut I've patched to make use of colour emojis: They serve as visual anchors and require few to make use of — most modern terminal emulators support them and most systems have some sort of font. Works fine even in st on my olde ThinkPad T43 😁
@menel@snikket.de This does the trick for me. However my goal was to avoid wrapping so they always remain in one line — to prevent pressing the buttons for destructive actions by accident. When buttons are arranged in one line they are usually rightmost and are easy to avoid. However under deeply nested replies they DO start wrapping 😖
My solution for now is to hide the desctructive action buttons with uBlockOrigin — I barely ever block anyone and if I need these, I can always make them visible again. With less buttons they also fit in one line even for the deeply nested comments. Mayve one day I can come up with a proper solution, but for now… this is fine 😅
