“People using AI for decision support over-rely on it, favoring the AI’s decision over the one they would make independently. …The city’s policy should be that chatbots may not be used to support such decisions, full stop,” EFF’s Jacob Hoffman-Andrews told the Voice of San Francisco.

AG Bill Barr’s father gave Epstein a job at one of the most elite boys’ prep schools in NYC.
BANNON: Bill Barr’s father was the one who met Epstein once at a bookstore. Epstein was from Coney Island, had no college degree, and yet B He taught math or was a tutor. After that, Ace Greenberg’s son picked him up. Next thing you know, he’s at Bear Stearns. Then he’s a partner.

And as another coincidence, Bill Barr was attorney general when all of this resurfaced. It was under his authority that the Bureau of Prisons reported Epstein was “murdered”—excuse me, “committed suicide.”

It stinks to high heaven.

Politics, who's the boss?

Once I watched an interview from many decades ago where a civilised person asked a Kalahari Bushman about his society. One questions was: 'Do you have Chiefs?'. The man became quiet for a while to absorb the concept of 'Chief'.
Then he said: 'We have many, many chiefs. In fact, Everyone is Chief of themselves'.

16 women emotionally recounted their experiences being allegedly sexually abused and, for some, being raped by Epstein when they were underage girls, many over a period of several months or years. An additional seven testimonies were read via statements presented by their lawyers or legal counsel.

Before the accusers spoke, Assistant US Attorney Maurene Comey motioned to dismiss the indictment served to the now-deceased Epstein on charges of sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy, and Epstein's lawyers argued that the circumstances surrounding his death should be investigated in court.

Cheap - €5/month, no other pricing. I buy a month's worth when I need to
You can pay however you want, bank transfer, credit card, crypto, even post them a crisp €5 note

The simplicity of it makes it my fave. There's no sales or free trials, it's not cheaper if you buy 20 years with upfront. It has been reliable for what I use it for too.

Interesting, that Typhoid Mary desert. I hadn't heard that she made deadly ice cream. Just that she refused to cook for people. Even after the NY health Dept. told her to stop.

It was better pay cooking, than maid work. Eventually they sent her to a NY island (N. Brothers) to live in isolation.

They probably could have just removed her appendix. Where the Typhoid germ was harbored. A lot of germs stay safe there.

@Max_Imum I screwed up a sentence there. It should read... She refused to stop cooking for people. Even after the health Dept. diagnosed her as a disease carrier.

She just went to work for another family, and then back to cooking for them. I guess her famed dessert then took more lives.

Facebook Allegedly Detected When Teen Girls Deleted Selfies So It Could Serve Them Beauty Ads

The social media company likewise tracked when #adolescent girls deleted selfies, "so it can serve a beauty ad to them at that moment," according to Wynn-Williams. Other examples of Facebook's ad lechery are said to include the targeting of young mothers based on their emotional state, as well as emotional indexes mapped to racial groups, like a "Hispanic and African American Feeling Fantastic Over-index."

I've just finished reading _Technofeudalism_ by Yanis Varoufakis. If he's right, then it's politically urgent to escape from the clutches of Meta, Google, Amazon and the like as soon as possible.

Varoufakis' arguments reminded me of _Chokepoint Capitalism_ by Rebecca Giblin and @pluralistic, though according to Varoufakis the dominance of Amazon and the like has killed off capitalism and is a form of feudalism. I still want to compare these two analyses more carefully.

But Varoufakis' argument is: these platforms have managed to lure people in to work for them for free, and with every post and update on their platforms, these exploitative and massively dangerous companies grow stronger and harder to defeat. On the other hand, if the people take back social media and the internet more generally, there's a real opportunity for building a counter-movement with these technologies.

The lesson I take from this: getting people to quit the capitalist platforms and join the #Fediverse is part of political organisation, and possibly an important part if you consider the way people are tethered to their Instagram and Tiktok.

Let me repeat this: Convincing and helping comrades to quit the capitalist platforms and join the Fediverse is an important form of revolutionary political organisation. ✊
