Capitalism killed democracy in our lifetime. Whatever civic actions we took to peacefully resist, and violent ones too, were insufficient to stop or slow the juggernaut because we gave our enemies our money. And we still do.

Republicans are worse than Catholics who express "dissapointment" with the church. MAGAs are absolutely loyal to a fault.

Dems don't have a coherent plan to give us capitalism with a human face because elected leaders have to drink from the same trough as Reps.

[PSA] Malware distributed on the AUR
On the 16th of July, at around 8pm UTC+2, a malicious AUR package was
uploaded to the AUR. Two other malicious packages were uploaded by the
same user a few hours later. These packages were installing a script
coming from the same GitHub repository that was identified as a Remote
Access Trojan (RAT).

The affected malicious packages are:

  • librewolf-fix-bin
  • firefox-patch-bin
  • zen-browser-patched-bin

The Arch Linux team addressed the issue as soon as they became aware of
the situation. As of today, 18th of July, at around 6pm UTC+2, the
offending packages have been deleted from the AUR.

We strongly encourage users that may have installed one of these
packages to remove them from their system and to take the necessary
measures in order to ensure they were not compromised.

There are more packages with this malware found.

  • ttf-ms-fonts-all
  • vesktop-bin-patched
  • ttf-all-ms-fonts


What to do


If you installed any of these packages, check your running processes for one named systemd-initd (this is the RAT).

The suspicious packages have a patch from this now-inaccessible Codeberg repo:

The Arch maintainers have been informed of all this already and are investigating.

- Shock people
- Sensationalism
- Cuteness
- Laugh at misfortune
- Gossip
- Say something polarizing
- Say something that allows people to excuse themselves or blame someone/something else for problems
- Say something agreeable that people can latch on to and say "THIS!"

It's hard to truly develop ones self or find peace, when drowning in a sea of mind-pollution.

@hazlin a significant chunk of my playlist is just Arknights music. If nothing else the game is good at giving us a couple banger songs every month or so as well as lengthy stories about, say, food, reconnecting with lost family, and how sacrifice is both terrible for both victim and those left behind but also sometimes necessary, reflected across three different stories across the dozen or so different characters.

Hopped on my bicycle today and after a couple of spins around the parking lot I decided to head down the Greenbelt in town. I didn't fall over, but I was a bit shaky riding along as it's been about 45 years since I rode. A big fuck you to the Canadian geese that thought it was a good idea to stroll out into the path and just stand there blocking my way. I managed to do just under 6 miles, relatively flat, but it felt good, and I did have some jelly legs when I finished my ride.
