The language I'm using is coming from talking with psychonauts, not any anti-drug program. Support groups for people who use recreational substances talk about the benefits and dangers openly, and datura is frequently placed atop lists of the most dangerous substances one can take. The leaves are less psychoactive than other parts of the plant, particularly the seeds.

I view these as sunk costs. The government has already made the banks whole and the banks have already paid the schools.
Fiat money is fake - whether we "print" and extra trillion dollars is largely irrelevant and I think the societal benefit could be enormous.
Philosophically, I get it and tend to agree.
