The language I'm using is coming from talking with psychonauts, not any anti-drug program. Support groups for people who use recreational substances talk about the benefits and dangers openly, and datura is frequently placed atop lists of the most dangerous substances one can take. The leaves are less psychoactive than other parts of the plant, particularly the seeds.

in reply to TLady • • •Wow. Being only a few generations removed from poor whites myself, I've got quite a few counterexamples among my own relatives that my father pointed to as object lessons to me in what not to do.
There's even an oral history account I recorded in which my grandfather related the story of how some of my grandmother's ancestors were killed in a bloody feud with another family, back near the end of the 19th Century.
