A refresher, if you encounter someone who tries to use the "fire in a crowded theater" doctrine to try to argue away the First Amendment:
The line, often quoted by censorship advocates, is from a 1919 Supreme Court opinion (Schenck v. US) by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes. It de facto outlawed trolling.
It was later overturned in a 1969 case (Brandenberg v. Ohio), which severely limited the situations in which speech becomes actionable. It added litmus tests like "imminent", and "likelihood".
The "fire in a crowded theater" argument is not only NOT a law (it came from the judicial branch, not the legislative one), it's not even CASE LAW. It's nothing. A historical note. An error by the Supreme Court that they corrected 50 years later.
The First Amendment is part of the US Constitution. It is the very first change made to the Constitution, once they realized that the government needed to be explicitly constrained from infringing on human natural rights. It is the law of the land. Do not believe a misinformed (or politically biased) authoritarian who thinks a Constitutional amendment can be overruled by a erroneous deprecated court paper.

I no longer get stressed out by the threats of losing things like jobs, housing, partners, friends, family. These are all things that require an enormous amount of energy. I will mourn their loss, but I will also welcome the break & freedom that comes with letting go

I don't know if anyone remembers the movie, The Forbin Project, it was about two military AI systems, one in the US named Colossus and one in Russia named Guardian, who in the interest of preventing nuclear misunderstanding were linked up, invented their own language and decided humans were the greatest threat, I hope this movie was not an accurate projection but I can sure understand how it could come to pass. So best computers not be taught to play favorites.

If Gavin Newsman wants to oppose Trump with weird AI memes or even more substantive ways I will certainly not get in the way. But when it comes to presidential candidates we can for sure get someone who 1) hasn’t just thrown marginalized people under the bus and 2) can win. It’s good to say so.
I think fighting fascism involves not validating a lot of fascist framing about marginalized people and I think coalition building involves not pushing marginalized people out of the coalition. We have to stand against the narratives that say otherwise and hold leaders to that standard.
