Lucie Touzi (Élucid) : D’après Météo France, le mois de juin 2025 a été le deuxième mois de juin le plus chaud jamais enregistré avec une anomalie de +3,3 degrés. Peut-on dire que les vagues de chaleur sont de plus en plus précoces ? Dans un futur proche, ces vagues de chaleur « exceptionnelles » deviendront-elles la norme ?
Serge Zaka : Face aux températures observées au mois de juin 2025, on peut dire que la vague de chaleur est exceptionnelle sur plusieurs niveaux. Avec plus de deux semaines de canicule en France, c'est la plus longue canicule observée pendant le mois de juin, battant le fameux juin 2019. Cependant, nous n’avons pas atteint les 46 degrés, comme en juin 2019, mais la surface concernée par une température supérieure à 39 degrés était bien plus vaste que cette année-là ; c'est pour cela que la moyenne est plus élevée.
Les statistiques des vagues de chaleur montrent qu'il y a plus de vagues de chaleur tout au long de l'été, à partir du mois de juin jusqu’au mois d’août. On a 4 fois plus de vagues de chaleur après les années 2000 qu'avant cette même année… Aujourd’hui, on ne parle plus de « risque de vagues de chaleur », mais d’une vraie « saison des vagues de chaleur ».
Les vagues de chaleur sont de plus en plus nombreuses au mois de juin, rivalisant et dépassant celles qu’on pouvait avoir aux mois de juillet et août du siècle passé. Elles sont de plus en plus précoces et, d’ici la fin du siècle, on pourrait observer des vagues de chaleur commencer dès le début du mois de juin, voire même à la fin du mois de mai d’ici 2100.
À l’inverse, pour le mois de septembre, on n’a pas encore eu de vagues de chaleur, même si certaines années c'était limite… Cependant, elles pourraient être de plus en plus nombreuses dans les prochaines années.
La saison estivale s'étend et les écosystèmes eux ne changent pas, c'est-à-dire que les stress au niveau des écosystèmes et du secteur agricole sont plus intenses, plus nombreux, plus fréquents et plus longs. Nos forêts, par exemple, sont toujours les mêmes qu’au siècle passé, du moins les essences présentes à l'intérieur et elles ne sont pas habituées à ce type d'événement.
« Les chaleurs précoces qui tombent au début de la période de développement et de floraison de certaines plantes, notamment pour le maraîchage, provoquent un avortement floral. »Serge Zaka : Ces vagues de chaleur tombent justement sur plusieurs périodes cruciales pour le développement des écosystèmes agricoles. Elles se superposent à des stades de sensibilité des végétaux, des oiseaux ou d'autres insectes et écosystèmes qui n'avaient pas l'habitude d'avoir ces températures. La floraison est le stade le plus sensible au gel, aux sécheresses et aux vagues de chaleur. Les chaleurs précoces qui tombent au début de la période de développement et de floraison de certaines plantes, notamment pour le maraîchage, provoquent un avortement floral.
À partir des 34 et 35 degrés, la fleur perd de sa fertilité, et à partir des 38 degrés, la plupart des tomates, des courgettes et des légumes du potager ne sont plus fertiles. Les maraîchers sont vraiment les plus concernés par ces vagues de chaleur précoces qui entraînent un déficit de production en début de saison et, à la suite de l'été, ce dernier peut se combler si les conditions redeviennent plus clémentes.
Les animaux d'élevage sont-ils sensibles à ces événements climatiques ?
Les animaux d’élevage vont subir des stress – appelés stress thermiques – et ils vont devoir dépenser de l'énergie pour réduire leur température corporelle. Les vaches laitières, notamment, ne sont pas génétiquement prêtes et destinées à réduire leur température corporelle, mais plutôt à produire du lait. C’est pourquoi l’énergie supplémentaire dépensée pour réduire leur température et la réguler se fait au détriment de la production de lait. Lorsqu'il fait chaud, les vaches laitières mangent moins et sont donc moins productives.
Il est important, aussi bien pour le bien-être animal que pour l'économie de la production agricole, de faire attention à ce stress thermique. Il est nécessaire de continuer à travailler sur le bien-être animal dans les prairies, avec la présence d’arbres, de haies et d'ombrage. Dans les bâtiments d'élevage, il faut installer, par exemple, des ventilateurs, des brumisateurs et des douches. Instaurer un décalage de la nutrition au cours de la journée en privilégiant une nutrition plutôt à la fraîche, le matin ou le soir, pour éviter l’échauffement corporel par la digestion des animaux d’élevage en journée.
Les vaches laitières sont les plus sensibles aux fortes chaleurs, tandis que les vaches à viande, les moutons et les chèvres le sont beaucoup moins. Chez les poules, on peut observer une baisse du taux de ponte localement, notamment dans les bâtiments d'élevage qui ne sont pas trop ventilés, qui ne sont pas forcément adaptés à ces fortes chaleurs et qui peuvent provoquer parfois de la mortalité. Depuis 2003, les éleveurs travaillent sur l'amélioration de ces bâtiments et sur l'anticipation et la gestion du cheptel lorsqu'il y a des vagues de chaleur.

La chute des feuilles des arbres est retardée ; ils doivent alors utiliser l’eau de pluie pour maintenir leurs feuilles, retardant la saison de recharge des nappes phréatiques qui commence à partir du moment où les arbres n’ont plus de feuilles.
Ces chaleurs tardives dans la saison impactent également l’alimentation des animaux, provoquant le retard de pousse de la prairie. Si le printemps a été suffisamment humide et qu’il y a assez de réserves dans les étables, ce retard peut être comblé. Cependant, les impacts sont beaucoup plus conséquents lorsqu’il y a des vagues de chaleur entre les mois de juin et août – pendant les floraisons et les implantations des végétaux – qu’au mois de septembre.
La sécheresse agricole risque-t-elle d’être historique cette année ?
Cette sécheresse n’est pas un record, elle est modérée, mais fortement accélérée par la canicule du mois de juin, qui a augmenté l'évaporation et la transpiration, desséchant nos écosystèmes. Normalement, après les orages et le retour de la fraîcheur, cette évaporation diminue et les précipitations complètent le déficit, mais, malheureusement, nous n'avons pas eu cette chance-là.
Les orages ont été trop ponctuels, les précipitations peu nombreuses et au final, le déficit hydrique s'est accentué, c'est-à-dire qu'il y a plus d'évaporation et de transpiration que de précipitations qui arrivent dans les écosystèmes. La sécheresse continue de s'accentuer, mais il faudra surveiller le retour de la pluie pendant le reste de la saison.
« Nous avons besoin de nouvelles variétés de blé ou de maïs, de nouvelles races de vaches et de nouveaux cépages pour la vigne qui puissent s'adapter aux fortes chaleurs. »Face aux sécheresses et aux canicules, certaines mesures peuvent être immédiates, comme rentrer les animaux dans un bâtiment d'élevage, l’irrigation, l'ombrage sur les courgettes et les tomates, évitant l’accentuation des stress hydriques et thermiques sur nos potagers et nos maraîchers. On met parfois du talc blanc sur les arbres pour limiter l’échauffement des feuilles et des fruits ; on le retrouve notamment sur les pommes.
Ce sont des mesures d'urgence, mais avec l'accentuation de la fréquence de ces canicules, il y a un moment où les mesures d'urgence, qui sont aussi coûteuses, ne sont plus suffisantes. Il faut travailler sur des mesures de fond qui se déclinent en plusieurs aspects.
Concernant la génétique, nous avons besoin de nouvelles variétés de blé ou de maïs, de nouvelles races de vaches et de nouveaux cépages pour la vigne qui puissent s'adapter aux fortes chaleurs. Dans le sud de la France, on pourrait même changer d'espèces et, dans ce cas, c’est toute l'économie de la filière qui doit se mettre en place.
En réalité, le changement d'espèces est très coûteux et il prend beaucoup de temps. En général, pour développer une filière, il faut à peu près 30 ans pour que celle-ci devienne économiquement intéressante, donc on est très en retard par rapport à l'évolution de l'aire de répartition de nos cultures, c’est ce qu'on appelle la biogéographie.
« Le débat ne doit pas être seulement centré sur l'irrigation ou les mégabassines ; il faut absolument le coupler à une évolution paysagère et une évolution agricole. »Si elle est raisonnée, l'irrigation peut être intéressante, basée ou non sur des systèmes de retenue d'eau qui peuvent être des mégabassines. Mon problème n'est pas forcément la retenue d'eau ou la volonté d'avoir plus d'eau pour l'agriculture, car il est nécessaire d’avoir plus d’eau dans un contexte de changement climatique et d'évolution de la température. La question n’est pas juste de savoir s’il faut retenir l’eau, l’utiliser et irriguer, mais plutôt « pourquoi, pour quelle production et comment ».
Une fois qu’on a cette irrigation et ces retenues d’eau, il faut absolument travailler sur l'évolution profonde du système agricole. Il est inutile de travailler sur l’irrigation si l'on continue à produire exactement de la même façon, avec les mêmes variétés et les mêmes filières sur un territoire. C’est ce qu’on appelle une mal-adaptation.
Il faut travailler sur des irrigations de résilience ou de l’irrigation raisonnée. Tout en ayant des retenues d’eau, il est essentiel de mettre en place des systèmes d'irrigation moins coûteux en eau et de changer les filières. On peut remplacer les cultures de maïs par du tournesol, du sorgho ou encore de l’olive, pour avoir une production beaucoup plus rémunératrice.
Le plus important est de travailler sur le sol, le principal et le seul réservoir d'eau pour les plantes. Un sol vivant stocke plus d'eau, c’est pourquoi il va falloir apprendre à diminuer le labour et l’utiliser qu'en cas d'extrême urgence, telle que l’invasion de mauvaises herbes (les adventices). Il faut absolument un couvert végétal permanent sur la parcelle, même s'il n'est jamais récolté car, souvent, entre deux cultures, on n’a plus de sol nu. Des sols plus vivants passent aussi par l'introduction de légumineuses dans les rotations qui sont des fertilisants naturels.
À long terme, il faut aussi travailler sur les paysages car, entre 1950 et 2000, le remembrement a simplifié nos paysages et l’écoulement de l’eau s’est accéléré, notamment avec l’expansion des villes et la bétonisation. Aujourd’hui, les paysages sont plus séchants et plus exposés au vent et au soleil. Qu’ils soient urbains ou agricoles, il est nécessaire de les recomplexifier et l’hydrologie régénérative consiste à façonner les paysages pour ralentir la course de l'eau et lui laisser le temps de s'infiltrer, en installant à nouveau des mares, des retenues collinaires, des haies bien placées, des murets ou encore des arbres isolés pour couper du vent. Le sens des semis et des plantations des cépages pour la vigne peuvent faire barrière à l’écoulement de l’eau sur une pente et laisser ainsi plus de temps à l’eau de s’infiltrer dans le sol, notamment en cas d'orage diluvien en été.
Le débat n'est pas seulement centré sur l'irrigation, les retenues collinaires ou les mégabassines ; il faut absolument le coupler à une évolution paysagère et une évolution agricole. C’est beaucoup plus complexe que ce que l’on peut voir à la télévision où la seule question posée est « pour ou contre les mégabassines ? ». Je ne suis ni pour ni contre, cela dépend de ce qui est déployé à côté de cette irrigation et pour éviter que le système agricole consomme encore plus d'eau et qu'il se limite lui-même dans cette consommation d’eau. L'idée est de garder cette eau uniquement en cas d'urgence et en cas de sécheresse, c'est très important avec les événements en cours.

Since I've started thinking of GenAI as a "collaborative story teller", I understand them much better. This idea keeps me from falling into many of the traps that I see very smart people falling into where they start to believe what the GenAI tells them. They fall under a sort of psychosis.
It was a story I read where a dad was using GenAI to help create bedtime stories for his daughter that flipped the switch in my brain.
I don't use GenAI as a rule. I'm against it on principal, but this helps me frame conversations where someone else is becoming a disciple. It helps me build my arguments.
That's the only thing I use AI for mainly.

Helping me refine plots.
Outlines.
World building.
I have had it create some useful scripts for me but they have all been very targeted and designed to perform one specific task and ChatGPT did that well.
But I would never use it to create an actual application!

There are numerous federated services available, we offer Macrobloging platform Friendica, Hubzilla; Microbloging services Mastodon, Misskey, a federated search engine, Yacy, and a federated cloud service, Nextcloud.
Macrobloging services are message systems that allow long form posts similar in format to Facebook. These allow for works of fiction, poetry, technical papers, news items, short stories, and more. These formats are most useful for discussion of social issues.
Microbloging services allow only short form posts similar in format to Twitter. While you can link to larger articles elsewhere, you have a relatively short character limit and so can not post them directly.
Censorship, is handled much different on the fediverse than on mainstream media like Twitter or Facebook. On the fediverse, each individual instance is responsible for content available on that instance, but does not censor the rest of the network. Thus if you find the rules of one instance too constraining you can move to another.
Federated search engines are analogous to federated message systems in that each instance chooses what portion of the internet it wants to crawl. When you enter a search term, the local instance queries all of the federated instances, collates and sorts the results and presents them to you. As with messages, each instance can have it’s own censorship policies but no one instance can censor the enti

Given the wild-west nature of the fediverse, it is probably not suitable for children under 14, and you’re guaranteed to find some material that will offend virtually everyone. Shell Accounts
A shell is a command line interface for an operating system. With most shell providers, a command line interface on one flavor of Linux or Unix is all you get. Eskimo North provides access to eight different popular Linux distributions and SunOS Unix. Eskimo North also full remote desktop capabilities using X2Go with sound, and also NX, VNC, and RPD without sound.
Account Types
We offer four different levels of shell accounts: Economy, Standard, Power, and Enterprise. Background tasks such as IRC bots, Game Servers, and the like are permitted on all account types except student. IRC servers are not permitted because of their tendency to draw denial of service attacks. Standard, Power, Enterprise, and Super-Max shells include a MySQL database allowing you to run a variety of LAMP stack based applications on your website and to use non-web based applications that require a database.
Web Hosting
Web hosting under our domain is provided with all shell accounts. You can host your own domains with virtual domains or web hosting packages.
Remote Desktop
Remote desktop capability is like having a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers plugged right into our servers. Because our servers can be accessed anywhere in the world, this allows you to have a work environment you can access from anywhere in the world without risking losing your files to a laptop, tablet, or phone thief. We offer remote desktop capabilities on all of our shell servers except for the SunOS server. We support x2go, nx, vnc, and rdp protocols. X2go is the best choice as it provides extremely efficient compression and X round trip removal as well as sound.

Applications include Office Suites such as Libre Office and Caligra (which can read and write Microsoft Office file formats), Web and Program Development tools such as Bluefish Editor as well as many other editors, compilers, interpreters, scripting languages, debuggers, profilers, and online documentation.
E-mail
Our e-mail system offers unprecedented flexibility. You can access your mail via shell mail readers including graphical mailers like Thunderbird, or via Web mail, or via pop-3 and imap mail protocols, complete with TLS encryption. Our mail system includes Bayesian filtering with Spam Assassin which can be individually configured for your needs. Procmail allows you to sort and process mail automatically. Smartlist allows you to maintain mailing lists.

Access to all of our servers is available via strong encryption. The shell servers all support ssh access. All of the remote desktop protocols tunnel via ssh. We maintain all of our servers up to date keep with the latest patches. Backups are made weekly.

We have a variety of Linux Servers with a variety of Linux Distributions and Desktop Environments. Linux servers in use here are of three basic lines, those derived from RedHat, such as Fedora, Centos, and Scientific Linux, and those derived from Debian such as Debian, Ubuntu, and Mint. Ubuntu is the most current and feature rich. Then there is Manjaro, derived from Arch Linux. Arch is more often broken because it is a real “do it yourself” Linux, an excellent learning platform, a good development platform, not a good production platform.
All of these servers are available if you have a shell account here. You can use them to learn various versions, decide which to install, and as one place you can develop applications for all versions. We install a wide variety of development tools on all of our publicly available servers.
Our servers listen to port 443 in addition to the standard ssh port of 22 to provide a means to connect from behind a firewall that blocks non-web access. You can also utilize Guacamole on our website (login public, password public).

This server is running Alma 8. Alma Linux replaces Scientific Linux after it’s discontinuation. Presently we are running Alma 8 because Alma 9 does not support NIS out of the box although there are ways of hacking it in. It is unfortunate that Redhat chose to piss on the infrastructure so many organizations depend upon. This is why we tend to favor Debian derived flavors. None the less as Redhat derived software goes Alma is pretty solid.

Anduinos is a Debian derived distribution that defaults to a Gnome Desktop themed to look like Windows 10. At present though this Desktop is not working over network connections, instead Mate and Gnome are presently available. I am working on some others.

Fedora Rawhide can be accessed graphically using x2go and the Mate desktop. It has the most applications of any of the Redhat derived servers. I install just about everything I can get to work on this machine so it has a huge variety of applications installed.

Kali is a special purpose shell server designed for penetration testing. It is primarily here to test our own internal security, and as a result, egress is extremely limited, however upon request, proof of IP space ownership, and permission of the owner and agreement to hold us harmless because it is possible some of these tests may be destructive, we will allow outbound for testing of other sites.

Manjaro is a good choice for a Linux user who wants to just install and go. There is a pleasant user interface and a good choice of software in the Manjaro repositories. It is a less technical Linux than Ubuntu, you can do most things through graphical interfaces and the default xfce interface is extremely light in terms of memory footprint. Like most modern distros, a variety of Windows systems are available and we have Gnome, Mate, KDE, Xfce, LXDE, and LXQT installed.

Mint is another recent addition to our shell servers. It is running Mint, although we have the Mate Desktop installed for graphical access. This is necessary because Unity and other compositing Desktops are incompatible with x2go and really work very roughly with VNC. If you like games, this is a good server to use and there are many installed. Mint is a derivative of Ubuntu which in turn is derived from Debian and this server thus follows the structure and layout of Debian and Ubuntu.
MxLinux.Eskimo.Com
MxLinux is an excellent choice for a computer with limited resources. Before the overhead of a Desktop is considered, MxLinux uses 200MB less RAM out of the box than does Ubuntu. If you’re not a fan of Poettering and Systemd, you’ll like this OS as it still uses a System-V init with Systemd shims to allow packages requiring systemd to function. You can also run systemd and in fact I am doing so because it boots faster. The default Desktop is LXDE which is also small and efficient. But if you like eye candy you can install any Desktop you like and as with other servers I will install all that I can get to work on this OS.

popOS is a modern appearing OS based upon Ubuntu, and not just indirectly, it actually utilizes Ubuntu’s repositories in addition to it’s own. The Desktops presently available on it are Gnome and Mate, though Gnome is a special edition known as Sparkle, and it does not operate properly with X2go. Presently X2go and ssh are the only two access methods. I am working on the others.

Rocky8 is a RedHat derived operating system very similar to Centos before Centos was absorbed, and ruined, by Redhat. While Centos support, with the exception of Centos9 is going away on June 30th, 2024, and CentOS9 is not usable because of the deletion of NIS by RedRat which is necessary to our organization, Rocky8 will be supported for security updates through May of 2029, thus provides us a means of continuing to offer a Redhat based environment for another five years.

Ubuntu can be accessed graphically using x2go and the Mate Desktop. The native Unity desktop is a compositing desktop which is incompatible with x2go. This machine is equipped with many applications including a huge number of games, a rich assortment of development tools and computer programming languages, a huge assortment of Office productivity software, many scientific, electronic, and educational tools.

Zorin is a Ubuntu derived operating system. It combines the eye candy of some other Ubuntu flavors such as Mint, with the security awareness and up to date nature of Ubuntu providing a really superb server environment. This machine is our best equipped server. It has the full Ubuntu Studio Suite, a very large assortment of development tools, language packs for all supported languages, many games, both Libre and Caligra Office Suites, and much more. X2go is supported on this machine.
Crontab access, batch, and background jobs are allowed on all of our servers. Most have unrestricted outbound access with the exception of kali owing to high abuse potential for tools that exist on it.'

We encountered a new loader advertised as "Morpheus" in underground forums 🕵️, recently dropped by #Amadey ⬇️🪲. Morpheus' C2 protocol is based on HTTP and working with tasks, where each task consists of an ID and a command 📣
Botnet C2: sophos-upd-srv .info 🇳🇱
The #malware accepts two command line parameters:
➡️ log: Path where debug logs are stored
➡️ update-url: URL used by the self-update process
#Morpheus has the following capabilities 💡:
1️⃣ Persistence through the Windows registry. It copies itself to the AppData Roaming directory under "SysSvc64.exe" and creates a new registry Run key that points to its location.
2️⃣ A host-based ID generated by collecting the current time, hostname and the MAC address of the compromised host.
3️⃣ Collects system information of the compromised host and sends them to a botnet C2, both, in the form of "HeartBeat" but also as Task command
4️⃣ A self update mechanism, where it will download a new version of itself, write it to disk with a ".tmp" suffix and immediately execute it. The current running instance will then exit.
5️⃣ Execution of various actions based on the commands received from the #botnet C2
The commands received from the botnet C2 come as a JSON object with two properties: "id" and "command". The following command-values are supported:
ℹ️ sysinfo: Collects the following information from the compromised host:
- Installed AV
- CPU (number of cores, architecture)
- Available Hard Disk (name, free space, total space)
- Domain (is domain joined, domain name)
- Available Memory (free, total)
- Network ( addresses, MAC, name)
- Processes (name, PID)
- Installed Apps
💥 selfdestruct: Deletes the Registry Run key and the executable from the disk running the command "/C ping 127.0.0.1 -n 3 > nul & del /f /q {sample_path}"
🌐 Anything starting with http/https: Downloads the files from the aforementioned URL and writes it to Windows Temp directory, using the current time as a name (nanoseconds since epoch). The file is then executed using the 'open' command of Windows.
💻 If there is no match from the above, but the command length is not zero, it will execute the value using "cmd".
