YouTube is a fantastic tool/source because the content there is so enormous. You can basically call it the video-version of Wikipedia. If you want to know something about something, chances are someone has made a video about it on that platform. As such, this vast encyclopaedia of videos on everything should be free and accessible to all just like Wikipedia. Wouldn't it be nice if each nations government had provided free premium access (ad-free, spy-free) to youtube for all its citizens? It wouldn't cost that much but the value for us citizens would be priceless. Let knowledge be free!

It would make for a very safe event. Unfortunately, PAX Unplugged has neither this year, and when I left the dealer hall the CO2 level was already above 1,600 ppm again.
Personally, 1600 ppm is beyond what I'd tolerate even while wearing a mask. People are speaking, which means aerosols are being emitted at a higher rate than if most people were quiet. A number that high also suggests their HVAC system is not mixing in much outside air and/or not mixing the inside air effectively. There's a pretty high general level of infection right now as well. A few vendors with COVID speaking to prospective customers for hours in a space with 1600 ppm CO₂ is a risky mix.
Given all that, it's really disappointing to hear that #PAXUnplugged decided to drop their COVID mitigations this year, especially after hearing that they had good policies last year. Frankly, I feel the general #COVID risk is higher this year than last and we should all be a little more cautious, not less. Up here in the northeast, where the wastewater levels are something like 3x the national average, we have hospitals and emergency rooms clogging up with COVID patients. Emergency rooms in most hospitals in Montreal are at 2x capacity. This is not the time to play the "vax and relax" game.

In situations like this, I upgrade from my everyday KF94s to 3M Aura 9205+ N95s, which I figure ought to suffice up to around 1,400–1,600 ppm. But when it's not just spiking above 1,600 ppm but actually holding steady there, that's going to be risky for everyone involved, ESPECIALLY when most people are unmasked.
I've been known to don a P100 elastomeric respirator which, besides adding a margin of safety, is cyberpunk as hell. I find it a little sad that even with a fully reasonable excuse to wear all kinds of interesting masks, so many people don't wear any.

i don't think you should need permission the create derivative works. i do like to be notified when others use my (public domain) works, but i don't see how this could be a right.
one objection i could imagine is artists who want to be anonymous. should you credit them? i think so, credit them as anonymous artists. obviously you shoudn't doxx them, but claiming/implying you made it yourself is still fraudulent.
i suspect part of the reason he brings in permission, is to support the "generative AI is plagiarism" narrative, which i think is largely bunk. but that doesn't mean it can't be used plagiarize. the "create image in style of XYZ" feature is a good example: if you do that, you are very explicitely basing the result on a specific persons work, and i think that calls for credit (obviously you shoudn't claim that they _made_ it, but that it's generated to be in their style, just be frickin honest…).

Now it is even harder to fight them off: Not only can everyone easily remove watermarks, but the newest method is to let AI redraw the photo or swap your face so it‘s no longer „you“. Platforms pretend it‘s not your artwork.
