Hubzilla gives you a greater degree of control over privacy than some of the other networks. You can create private channels that are served between hubzilla instances and other compatible instances.
Mastodon.Eskimo.Com Mastodon is first and foremost an alternative to Twitter. While Twitter has Tweets, Mastodon has Toots. The format is very similar. Mastodon toots have a limit of 500 characters. Similar to the short limit of Twitter. This is why this platform is referred to as a Microbloging format. Mastodon interacts with other ActivityPub instances however when a long form blog post from another instance arrives, you are only shown a short portion with a link to follow to see the full post on the originating site.
NextCloud.Eskimo.Com If you are a customer of Eskimo North, your login credentials will work without a domain extension to access Nextcloud. Re unfixed security issues, Is microsoft office any better? I'm no expert but I doubt it.
And Office is a $129.99 a year subscription right. I'm not sure unfixed security issues is a fair yardstick in this market segment. Maybe just use libreoffice in a vm with no network interface. It'll be a cold day in hell before I send Msft money for an office subscription.
Sorry I forget sometimes. It’s just that OpenOffice is a way better name. “Libre” is a pretty uncommon word in English and LibreOffice sounds like astrology software.
OnlyOffice is good too if you prefer an interface that is more like modern MS Office. LibreOffice is more like 2000s MS Office, so pick the one you prefer.
It is pretty much the same as 20 years ago. That is, good enough for basic use cases but nowhere near as complete as MS Office. It isn't a serious program for professional use.

I got the same issue with OpenCloud and NextCloud.
It has a nice ribbon UI like MS Office! Unfortunately it is super hidden as you first need to enable experimental settings before you can switch it on.
Have you actually tried LibreOffice in a while? The Ribbon UI hasn't been experimental since LibreOffice 6.2, which was released in February 2019. It is a normal option, called Tabbed, in the User Interface settings under View > User Interface.
The date seems to be misleading. When you open the comments section and load all comments, you'll see that there are quite a few comments that are 9 years old. The article is thus far older than what it's saying, and it unfortunately showcases again how many people rely on very old (and in this case misleading) information about LibreOffice.

Thirty years ago, I read William Greider's book "One World Ready or Not" that presciently described many of the consequences that trade with China would entail. One of his primary concerns was that the Chinese government could skim many of the profits that the West allowed corporations to skim. The net result was that they enriched the state while we enriched the wealthy. China built infrastructure (like high-speed rail) while billionaires bought yachts and helicopters and politicians.

so at some point my laptop's bios updated against my will, and then shortly after that my gpu overheated and when i brought it back up after the thermal shutdown everything was running on generic drivers and all my display settings were fucked. having set my scaling back where i want it, all my ui text is comically large despite being set as small as possible in the display settings. is there some other mysterious place i should be looking? this is win 11; do not suggest 'change your os'
could be. i have one box double booting, where one OS demands i use its grub partition... which would be fine if it recognized the other OS. so anyways, i fixed it in the bios bc uefi is weird and it let me do that. ran some apt update/upgrade yesterday... hijacked the boot process again.
