Update on my elderly aunt.

She is still in rehab, but the doctors say she needs 24 hour care now. So I have been researching homecare companies in anticipation of her being discharged next week at some point.

Though still relatively alert, she is very much different from a month ago and it is pretty obvious that she has reached a point where her neighbor and me cannot take care of her properly.

So, prayers for wisdom as I set up care at home and for her understanding it is time.

@HeyLiberty @1031 all of this is so familiar! Caring for our loved ones is hard! The sooner things are legal the better. We had a durable? POA set up so mom can make decisions as long as she is able and when she’s not then I can. There are elder resources out there. A quick ask on a local FB page can get you lots of suggestions on who/what was a good/bad experience. People are happy to share what worked for their loved ones. Part-time caregivers can be a big help in some cases.

@JessπŸ‘Ύ It's probably not induction. A while back there was a light bulb company that had an advertisement where they would unscrew the light bulb from the lamp socket and it would keep glowing, and to further the effectiveness of those advertisements they added some glow in the dark phosphors to their bulbs so they would glow for some time after being turned off. But, if you want to test for inductance, just place it in a Faraday shield, such as a microwave oven (don't turn the oven ON while the bulb is inside if you don't want flaming / melted bulb remains). If the glow goes out while inside the Faraday cage, then OK inductance, but unlikely unless you live next to a higher powered radio or television station.

Finally! good to see active projects built in Europe. As in the BSD community, I like the claim: "shut up and hack!"

I hate in Europe how much we complain about depending so much on USA. But so few projects to self host, self develop.

Europe should be a leader in opensource software and hardware but I don't see any such strategy from EU leaders. FOSS licences are key to peaceful technology development, knowledge sharing, anyone free to customize, and knowledge mastering.

Crane Parts Maintenance Checklist: Avoid Downtime and Save Costs

Preventive maintenance isn’t a cure-all, but it’s the most effective way to catch issues before they disrupt your workflow. This checklist targets crane parts, providing a practical, no-fuss guide to keep your equipment in top shape.

Cranes are critical to your operations, but they come with a high price tag. A single part failure can lead to costly downtime, delayed projects, safety risks, and mounting expenses.

Preventive maintenance isn’t a cure-all, but it’s the most effective way to catch issues before they disrupt your workflow. This checklist targets crane parts, providing a practical, no-fuss guide to keep your equipment in top shape.

Why Maintenance Is Crucial

A crane’s reliability depends on its components. A worn hook, a frayed rope, or a failing brake can stop operations or cause accidents. The trick is identifying problems early to avoid bigger issues.

Daily Checks (Pre-Shift)

These are quick, visual inspections. No tools needed. Perform them before every shift to spot issues early.

Hooks

  • Check for cracks, bends, or heavy wear.
  • Ensure the safety latch functions correctly.
  • If it’s damaged or deformed, remove it from service immediately.

Wire Ropes or Chains

  • Inspect for rust, broken strands, or kinks.
  • Look for flattened or frayed sections.
  • If anything seems off, don’t proceedβ€”investigate further.

Hydraulic Hoses

  • Scan for leaks, bulges, or cracked rubber.
  • Small leaks can escalate into major failures if ignored.

Brakes

  • Test with a light load. Listen for delays or odd noises.
  • Report any slipping or weak performance immediately.

Controls and Limit Switches

  • Test each control for proper response.
  • Verify limit switches are workingβ€”never bypass them.

Weekly Checks

These require a bit more time but are manageable with basic tools.

Bolts and Fasteners

  • Tighten loose bolts and check for vibration damage.
  • Inspect threads for wear or stripping.

Lubrication Points

  • Apply grease per the manufacturer’s schedule.
  • Use just enough to keep parts moving smoothly.

Sheaves and Pulleys

  • Rotate them to ensure quiet, free movement.
  • Check for uneven wear or grooves in the tread.

Electrical Connections

  • Look for frayed wires or loose terminals.
  • If you’re not certified, report issues to a qualified electrician.

Monthly Maintenance

Schedule time for thorough inspections. You may need to order spares from your crane parts supplier.

Gearboxes and Bearings

  • Verify oil levels and check for leaks.
  • Listen for grinding or unusual sounds during operation.

Load Chain or Wire Rope Tension

  • Ensure even tension to prevent side pulling.
  • Correct any improper winding on the drum.

Trolley and Bridge Alignment

  • Check for smooth tracking and inspect rails for wear.
  • Misalignment accelerates part wear and affects load stability.

Emergency Stop Function

  • Test to confirm it stops all operations instantly.
  • Log the test as part of your maintenance routine.

Annual (or Manufacturer-Recommended) Inspections

These are in-depth and require professionals. Your crane parts supplier can provide quality crane parts or recommend certified inspectors.

Structural Components

  • Inspect for corrosion, cracks, or fatigue in high-stress areas.
  • Use ultrasonic testing for hidden defects if necessary.

Load Testing

  • Test under maximum load to ensure reliability.
  • This is a job for certified experts, not DIY.

Control Systems and Safety Features

  • Review fault logs, software updates, and safety mechanisms.
  • Faulty controls are a serious liability.

Keep Accurate Records

It’s tempting to skip logs when things are running smoothly, but records are essential. They help identify patternsβ€”like a part failing every few monthsβ€”and provide documentation for audits or incidents. Your crane parts supplier](crane-spares.com/) can use this data to suggest better components.

Simple log format:
- Date
- Components inspected
- Issues found
- Inspector’s name
- Actions taken

Partner with a Trusted Crane Parts Supplier

Preventive maintenance relies on access to quality crane parts. A dependable crane parts supplier is key. Choose one who:
- Supplies parts meeting ASME and ISO standards.
- Delivers spares quickly.
- Offers documentation and traceability.
- Understands your crane’s specific requirements.

Your supplier should be a reliable partner, not just a vendor. If they can’t support you during a breakdown, find a better option.

Train Your Team

A checklist is only as good as the people using it. Train operators and maintenance staff to spot issues correctly. Hands-on training is far more effective than manuals alone.

Summary: Crane Parts Maintenance Checklist

Daily:

  • Hooks
  • Wire ropes/chains
  • Hydraulic hoses
  • Brakes
  • Controls/limit switches

Weekly:

  • Bolts/fasteners
  • Lubrication
  • Sheaves/pulleys
  • Electrical connections

Monthly:

  • Gearboxes/bearings
  • Rope/chain tension
  • Alignment
  • Emergency stop

Annual:

  • Structural inspections
  • Load testing
  • Control/safety system checks

Always:

  • Maintain detailed logs
  • Use quality Kobelco crane parts
  • Work with a trusted crane parts supplier
  • Train your team

A few minutes of daily checks can save weeks of downtime. Stay proactive, fix issues early, and keep your cranes running strong.

By attempting to secure the election of their own candidates, the Bolsheviks did not transform the campaign into a mere struggle for a few seats in the Duma. The activity of the Duma fraction both within and outside the Duma had great revolutionary importance. But the election campaign itself was of no less importance and throughout its course the revolutionary position of Social-Democracy had to be preserved in all its purity, without being toned down or retouched for any secondary considerations. wordsmith.social/protestation/…

The Impact of Automated Feed Systems on Concrete Crusher Efficiency & Safety

In the kinetic world of concrete crushing, where tons of rubble meet steel with thunderous resolve, efficiency and safety often dance a delicate waltz. Enter automated feed systemsβ€”those unsung heroes behind the scenesβ€”quietly transforming the rhythm of crusher operations into a smooth, orchestrated performance.

Elevating Crusher Output with Consistent Feed Flow

Steady feed, steady results: the magic of automation

Crushers thrive on consistency. Like a finely tuned orchestra needs a reliable tempo, a concrete crusher for sale requires a steady flow of material to truly hit its stride. Automated feed systems eliminate the hiccups and halts caused by irregular bucket loads or overzealous operators.

With automation, the crusher’s appetite is met at the perfect pace. Sensors detect load levels in real time and regulate conveyor speeds to ensure material flows like clockwork. The result? Less surging, fewer blockages, and a smoother reduction process. It's a symphony of synchronized crushing.

Reducing idle time and maximizing throughput

Every second your crusher waits for material is revenue bleeding into the dust. Manual loading methods, even in well-coordinated teams, leave gaps and lulls. Automated systems bridge these inefficiencies with precision-controlled feedingβ€”ensuring the machine remains in its sweet spot hour after hour.

100tph limestone crushing plant for aggregate production in Tanzania

This constant motion doesn’t just boost productionβ€”it prolongs the life of the machine. Consistent loads reduce wear on liners, belts, and bearings. Over time, this adds up to a significant cost advantage wrapped in a prettier production graph.

Safety First: Removing Risk from the Loading Zone

Minimizing human interaction at hazardous choke points

Let’s be honest: the feed zone of a track crusher isn’t exactly a picnic. Flying debris, unstable loads, and pinch points create a cocktail of potential hazards. Automated feed systems step in as a buffer between man and machine, drastically reducing the need for workers to enter these danger zones.

Operators can supervise from a safe distance while machines take over the grindβ€”literally. This reduces incidents, minimizes downtime from injuries, and builds a workplace culture rooted in proactive safety.

Smart sensors and predictive feed controls

Today’s feed systems aren’t just automatedβ€”they’re intelligent. Equipped with ultrasonic sensors, weight gauges, and vibration analytics, these systems adjust feeding patterns before bottlenecks happen.

If a jam is brewing or the crusher is nearing overload, alerts are sent or action is taken autonomously. The system slows, pauses, or redirects material with near-surgical precision. The outcome? Zero guesswork, maximum control.

Future-Proofing Your Plant with Smart Integration

Data-driven optimization and remote monitoring

Modern crushing isn’t just mechanicalβ€”it’s digital. Automated feed systems now integrate seamlessly with plant-wide SCADA systems and IoT dashboards. Performance data streams in real-time, allowing operators to tweak settings, identify inefficiencies, and forecast maintenance schedules with uncanny accuracy.

Remote access means that even when the site is quiet, insight flows. Maintenance crews know what’s wearing out. Managers see what’s lagging behind. It’s not just smartβ€”it’s brilliantly efficient.

Scalability for tomorrow’s crushing demands

As project scales grow and material compositions vary, flexibility is key. Automated feed systems are engineered with scalability in mind. Whether you’re upgrading from a 100 TPH stone crusher plant setup to a 300 TPH beast, these systems adaptβ€”expanding sensor arrays, conveyor logic, and software capabilities without rewriting the playbook.

Investing in automated feeding is more than a tech upgradeβ€”it’s a vote for future resilience, smoother expansions, and a crushing plant that grows as fast as your business ambition.

Concrete crushing has evolved from brute force to elegant precision, and automated feed systems are leading that evolution. Karl Marx: The simple circulation of commodities - selling in order to buy - is a means of carrying out a purpose unconnected with circulation, namely, the appropriation of use-values, the satisfaction of wants. The circulation of money as capital is, on the contrary, an end in itself, for the expansion of value takes place only within this constantly renewed movement. The circulation of capital has therefore no limits. As the conscious representative of this movement, the possessor of money becomes a capitalist. His person, or rather his pocket, is the point from which the money starts and to which it returns. wordsmith.social/protestation/…

Quotes

  • Otto Kuusinen: As long as the working class wages only an economic struggle, the bourgeoisie does not see in that any great danger for itself; but when the working class organises politically, i.e., creates a political party which expresses its will as a class, the bourgeoisie begins seriously to fear for its rule. That is why reaction deals its main blows against the political party of the working class. At the same time, trying to undermine the party from within, capitalist propaganda endeavours to persuade the workers that they can do without their own party. One of the manifestations of bourgeois influence on the working class is the anarchist and anarcho-syndicalist denial of the leading role of a political party.

  • Democritus: Good means not (merely) not to do wrong, but rather not to desire to do wrong.
  • Democritus: Fame and wealth without wisdom are unsafe possessions.
  • Muammar Gaddafi: We will not surrender. We will defeat them by any means. We are ready for the fight, whether it will be a short or a long one. We will be victorious in the end. This assault is by a bunch of fascists who will end up in the dustbin of history.
  • Democritus: By convention sweet is sweet, bitter is bitter, hot is hot, cold is cold, color is color; but in truth there are only atoms and the void.
  • Democritus: We know nothing accurately in reality, but (only) as it changes according to the bodily condition, and the constitution of those things that flow upon (the body) and impinge upon it.
  • Democritus: Medicine heals diseases of the body, wisdom frees the soul from passions.
  • Democritus: Immoderate desire is the mark of a child, not a man.
  • Democritus: Men have fashioned an image of Chance as an excuse for their own stupidity.

  • Marjori Palmer: One of the most morale-damaging aspects of the inflation was the "sack of Germany" that occurred at the height of the (1923) inflation. Anyone who possessed dollars or sterling was king in Germany. A few American dollars would allow a man to live like a millionaire. Foreigners swarmed into the country, buying up family treasures, estates, jewelry and art works at unbelievable low prices.
  • Lionel Robbins: It was the most colossal thing of its kind in history: and next probably to the Great War itself, it must bear responsibility for many of the political and economic difficulties of our generation. It destroyed the wealth of the more solid elements of German society: and left behind a moral and economic disequilibrium, a breeding ground for the disasters which have followed. Hitler is the foster child of the inflation.
  • Lenin: There is no trace of utopianism in Marx, in the sense that he made up or invented a 'new' society. No, he studied the birth of the new society out of the old, and the forms of transition from the latter to the former, as a natural-historical process. He examined the actual experience of a proletarian mass movement and tried to draw practical lessons from it.
