Trump seems to think that turning an existing production 747-800 into an AF1 plane is simply a matter of changing the seating layout and the paint scheme.
The AF1 747s are built with vastly different communications and avionics so they can serve as secure flying command posts during emergencies. They can be refueled in mid-air (a tanker plane follows it around when the president is on board, just in case).
They're also used in pairs, with the other plane on standby at a nearby airport.
"Modifying" a 747 to make it part of the Air Force One fleet is likely harder than building it from scratch. The chances that this could be done during the Trump presidency (assuming it ends after a 2028 election) seem very slim, at least without compromising the requirements.
I've read that the 'gift' plane would have to be taken apart, piece by piece, and reassembled so we could be sure nothing onboard is compromised. Piece. By. Piece. Imagine not only the ability of a foreign government to listen in on the President, but having the ability to detonate or take control of the plane. Unreal.
Another issue is that if the plan is to then "re-donate" the AF1-modified plane to the Trump library, it would have to be "de-miled", with all the special (and mostly classified) features removed so it could be flown by uncleared, non-military pilots. I think it's more likely this will be used as a fundraising and campaign plane instead of AF1. I can't imagine Trump taking this plane and then not using it for a minimum of 3 years, as it's adapted.
The normal process was for Boeing Commercial to build the bare aircraft shell, and then handover to Boeing Military to fit the special "insulation" (EMI, bullet proofing etc) and then start adding wiring, subsystems and the military physical gadgets. Eventually gets sent to the group that does the interior.
So if you get an already built , flyable aircraft, it needs to be stripepd back to bare metal and rebuilt with new wiring etc.
One of Trump's 1.0 first "actions" was to cancel the Obama contract and renegotiate with Boeing: lower price by using already built 747-8s from a Russian cancelled order. Trump bragged about lowering the price. It may have lowered the price from Boeing Commercial contracts, but the contract with Boeing military ended up costing far mroe due to the need to strip aircraft down and the do physical modifications (extra doors, stairs etc) that would have been done when building bare shell
And what is worse, Trump got a "good deal" by getting a friend's company to get the interior furnishing contract, and that company was incapable of getting clearance and actually doing the jo on such a scale. They were used to small business jets. Legal suits ensued and company went bankrupt, hence further delying project.
So yes, Trump 2.0 is fully aware that fitting an existing aircraft ends up costing mucho $$ and time, and is likely counting on it: Military won't start refitting the Quatar plane and will hold it for Trump and pay for its upkeep and maintenance in soe miliary hangar until Trump exist White House at which point the military will handover the jet to Trump, still in its Quatar private 747 config.
I could see the Qatar plane used unmodified during Trump's presidency for domestic flights to Mar A Lardo and New Jersey. The list of differences between a AF1 and a normal 747 is long.
Besides the ones mentioned you have to have missile defense systems and electronic counter measures or you might be shot out of the sky. The AF1 has to be hardened to withstand a EMP from either a nuke blast or other system. AF1's need a mini hospital if the President's appendix ruptures or worse. It needs quarters for the President's staff and crew people.
It doesn't need to be gold gilded or have a bidet.

Hello, I would like to customize the Raspberry Pi Ubuntu image before I flash it to multiple SD cards. I tried to use Cubic: I downloaded the official image which is an img.xz file. I extracted it, and converted the img to iso since Cubic only accepts iso files. However, when I try to add this source iso in Cubic, it complains about having a wrong file format. Can you suggest a better way to try and customize it? I just need to uninstall some software that are there by default, and install others that are not there, nothing crazy really.
Hmm I don't know if there's a "correct" way, but you could flash the stock version on the first SD card and fire Ubuntu up. Then configure your system and shut down.
Next I would dd the whole SD card into an .img file which then you could flash to all other SD cards.
Be aware of changing hostname and static IP for each new sd card to avoid network trouble
