26. Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sopp, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
John 13:26-27.
Jesus said to the disciples that one would betray Him. Jesus tells John it is the one I give the sop, a piece of bread, a morsel dipped in a common dish. It was a custom of the host to give it to an honored guest.
Jesus knew who would betray Him, and in His love for Judas, Christ gave Judas the opportunity to repent.
Yet Judas had already made up his mind what he was going to do. After refusing to repent Satan enters him, and Christ says what you are going to do, do it now. Judas with the other disciples cast out demons and preached the Gospel having the best of all teachers Christ the Lord and he failed.
Allowing the desires of the flesh to rule over the benefit of salvation. We must always be alert. If the going gets easy, look where you going, it might be downhill. The road to success is always uphill. Amen.
