times of israel quoting an employee of the hospital saying "it is a miracle that nobody was injured in the Iranian ballistic missile strike on the hospital this morning, describing how debris fell onto the beds of the patients." iranian state claims they targeted and hit an intelligence location next door and the damage to the hospital next door was from the shockwave.
take from all that what you will.

NuKE thAt PoLL

Israel is again threatening to nuke the western world if we don't help them to destroy Iran.

If it comes down to it though. Would it really be so bad? I mean if we keep going along with this, "what will the end be? Enslavement of our people, annexation of our land" to quote Adolf Hitler.

I would honestly rather take my chances with a nuclear world war, if it would mean the total destruction of Israel. I say it would be a worth it.

Or we will be destined to forever slavery.

@DrFell

What is the option U miss?

The premise for this poll is as follows, Israel once again threatens to nuke the West if we don't help them defeat Iran for them.

I for once felt like, this might be a good opportunity to check if they are bluffing.

Either they have the capacity or they don't. I say we find out the hard way.

Iranian Chief of Staff Warns Zionists: Leave Haifa and Tel Aviv to Preserve Your Lives saba.ye/en/news3501353.htm

Crowdsourcing recommendations: office chairs that don't break the bank and are *actually comfortable* (and by this I mean very well padded and "soft" feeling - if I could work from a car seat, I would, to frame this whole discussion).

Absolute #1 priority above literally anything else is that the seat, where my butt goes, is non-mesh, well-cushioned, feels comfy, and is durable. If it flattens out in a month and I'm back to sitting on the plywood under the foam, it's useless! (most non-mesh office chairs I've used sadly turn out like this in about a month, but I also dislike mesh's feel on the skin soooooo). Second priority, related to this, is no hard plastic (or wood, or metal, or whatever) digging into me in high-touch places (which, itself, rules out most mesh chairs anyway, I find, they all go ham on hard plastic).

Definitely prefer high-back chairs with no mesh anywhere (I believe this is called "executive chair"?), head/neck rests are generally speaking preferred but not strictly required. Rolling ability optional but useful. Rocking ability optional but nice?

#Palestine / Israel expands censorship enforcement against missile strike documentation

The “unauthorized” footage of the Iranian ballistic missile strike on Bazan factories in #Haifa - which killed three workers - prompted the crackdown. The new order enables the prosecution of citizens and media for sharing unauthorized footage of missile impacts, drone strikes, and military installations. Violators face prosecution for “severe harm to state security” with authorities vowing swift action against those “assisting enemies.“

[follow up] Israel expands military censorship to foreign media and social networks with new emergency order

Israeli Chief Military Censor issued an emergency order requiring all media outlets - Israeli and foreign - plus social media operators to seek prior approval before publishing missile impact locations. The order targets coverage of Iranian strikes and extends censorship rules to international networks and social platforms.

Police have already shut down broadcasts by #AP and #Reuters, claiming their footage was used by Al Jazeera. Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi said the order resulted from collaboration with National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to "close holes" in coverage by foreign networks.

Legal experts question the order's enforceability, particularly for social media users and foreign outlets. Israel's military censorship reached record levels in 2024, with over 8,000 articles banned or partially censored - more than double previous peaks.

The Government Press Office initially issued a misleading statement suggesting much broader censorship powers than the order actually contains, later calling this an error.

[cont'd] Iran fires 23 missiles at Israel, 30 injured in Haifa direct hit

While Israeli media is reporting how successful Israel's air forces were at neutralizing launch sites, launch operators, and scientists, #Iran launched 23 missiles targeting areas across #Israel from north to south.

A direct hit in #Haifa injured 30 people, including a 16-year-old critically wounded by shrapnel and two others moderately injured. The strike damaged high-rise buildings, offices, and shops after hitting a parking garage.

In southern areas, interceptor debris caused significant damage to two houses but no casualties. Officials noted most injuries occurred among people not in protected spaces during alerts.

Maintaining P&H Cranes: OEM Parts vs. Aftermarket Alternatives

The OEM vs. third-party debate for P&H crane parts hinges on your specific circumstances. OEM parts are ideal for critical systems, while third-party options offer savings and availability, particularly for older equipment.

Scheduled maintenance is essential for keeping cranes running smoothly, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safety. But when it's time to replace parts during these intervals, a key question arises: should you stick with OEM parts or consider third-party options?

For P&H crane operators, this decision is particularly important due to the equipment's complex engineering. Whether you're overseeing operations or performing repairs, the parts you choose impact performance and costs. Let's dive into the debate.

Why Maintenance Schedules Matter

P&H cranes follow servicing schedules based on operating hours, workload, and site conditions. Skipping these intervals can lead to hydraulic breakdowns, worn drivetrains, or structural damage. Regular maintenance prevents these issues by addressing wear before it escalates.

During servicing, though, the choice between OEM and third-party parts becomes a critical consideration.

OEM Parts: The Trusted Standard?

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts come from the crane's original builder. For P&H crane parts, this ensures components are designed to the machine's exact specifications. Benefits include:

  • Perfect compatibility. No need for modifications or workarounds.
  • Reliable quality. OEM parts meet the crane's original performance standards.
  • Warranty assurance. Using OEM parts often preserves warranty coverage.

However, OEM parts can be expensive, and for older P&H cranes, they may be hard to source due to limited stock or supply chain disruptions.

Third-Party Parts: A Budget-Friendly Option?

Third-party parts, or aftermarket components, are made by independent manufacturers. They're generally more affordable and accessible, especially through a specialized crane parts supplier that carries parts for P&H and other brands.

Potential risks to consider:

  • Inconsistent quality. Some aftermarket parts are excellent; others may fall short.
  • Fit challenges. Slight variations can lead to installation issues.
  • Limited OEM support. You may depend on the supplier for technical guidance.

Despite these concerns, many operations use third-party parts effectively for routine components like filters, seals, or hydraulic hoses, especially when sourced from a reputable crane parts supplier.

P&H Crane Parts: Balancing Quality and Availability

P&H cranes are built for tough jobs, but their intricate systems require precise components. For critical parts like slew gears, hydraulic pumps, or control systems, many owners opt for OEM P&H crane parts to ensure safety and performance.

For older P&H models, however, OEM parts can be scarce. Third-party crane parts suppliers step in, offering aftermarket solutions designed for legacy cranes. Some suppliers even produce reverse-engineered P&H crane parts that rival OEM standards, providing a cost-effective alternative.

Making an Informed Choice

Here's a straightforward approach to choosing parts:

Go with OEM parts when:
- Your crane is still under warranty.
- You're replacing high-risk components like boom assemblies or safety systems.
- You've had issues with third-party parts in the past.

Consider third-party parts when:
- You're maintaining an older P&H crane with limited OEM support.
- The part is non-critical, like gaskets, belts, or wear strips.
- Your crane parts supplier has a strong reputation for quality and reliability.

The Importance of Skilled Installation

Whether you choose OEM or third-party P&H crane parts, proper installation is crucial. A poorly installed part can fail quickly, regardless of its quality. Use technicians with experience servicing P&H cranes, preferably those familiar with your model.

Document all maintenance thoroughly—parts used, service dates, and operating hours. This helps with compliance and spotting early warning signs of trouble.

Closing Thoughts

The OEM vs. third-party debate for P&H crane parts hinges on your specific circumstances. OEM parts are ideal for critical systems, while third-party options offer savings and availability, particularly for older equipment.

Most P&H owners benefit from a hybrid strategy: OEM for high-stakes components and a trusted crane parts supplier for routine parts. Whatever you choose, never skip scheduled servicing—it's the foundation of a reliable crane.
