The Estates is a way to divide the field--picking the Third Estate as the seat of ACTUAL power is--if it can be wielded. National strike comes to mind.

But in a way, I'd argue you're reframing the problem. The 0.01% own the governments, media and have been the bosses of the "intelligence" & military communities. There are "good apples" presumably in those barrels but the rot is systemic.

The idea that the ultra-rich "own" the people who make up the other estates is a framing beyond simplistic.

Consider armed enforcement, the fifth estate. Exactly how are 18,000 separate police departments owned by a minuscule number of individual persons?

Those entities of the fifth estate have shared interests that they work together to protect, but the idea that there's some hierarchical control enacted through sequestered exchange value, some persons who "own" three quarters of a million people, when each of those hundreds of thousands of people are operating out of their own self-interests, out of their own desire to employ a monopoly of force to the satisfaction of their own ego-value, is puerile.

Good apples doesn't enter into it. The rot is systemic. Including the rot of the third estate. Looking to the third estate to enact a national strike is laughable. The seat of compliancism choosing not to comply? Please. Hence we get distributed flashmob block parties.

If the 0.1% were not writing legislation to benefit themselves, much of the systemic rot could be offset. ICE agents are also compelled currently by quotas but the people in it are mostly racist assholes.

Still: what is the other 50+% of the problem? I think are just muddying the waters. But then, you also don't seem to think there's ANY answers to the horrific situation our species is in. So why argue about anything? Indeed, that may well be an accurate assessment. We're fucked.

Not going to argue with consensus media. You asked a question. Myself answered it. You chose to disregard and not engage with the answer in preservation of your consensus framing.

(Consensus is just that. The fourth estate is consensus in the form of media. This is media. What we're doing right now. Only myself am not actively reinscribing consensus, am not actively reinscribing the status quo.)

If you honestly believe that the only reason police (notorious for behaving as if law does not apply to them) are only cruel because laws tell them to be, then nothing myself can say will convince you otherwise.

Per your "Still." Again, asked and answered. The other 50%+ is perquisition (the third estate), consensus media (the fourth estate, again, what you are doing right now) and armed enforcement (the fifth estate). Can repeat this ad nauseam. You won't hear the answer if it fails to affirm your insistence that the second estate "owns" all those disparate ego-value interests.

No one need order an ICE agent not to provide adequate food to children in a concentration camp. No one need "own" that member of the fifth estate for them to engage in depraved indifference.

Racism is sufficient to direct their non-action, without any story needing to be told about how some statistical error of a minority, the second estate—its members distinguished by having more digits on their balance sheets than people who will mourn them when they are gone—somehow "owns" those members of the fifth estate by virtue of the second estate being "bosses".

Cruelty is more than sufficient a motivator without having to imagine puppeteers pulling their strings. Any story that elides this, by blaming other people, people who aren't even in a position to be indifferent to the children in a given cage, only serves to perpetuate the systemic rot.

What's the best setup for me? Which devices should I use?


 What's the best setup for me? Which devices should I use?

So I'm wanting to get into self hosting, and I could use some advice! I'm not sure which device to use for what. There's a lot I'd like to do, and I don't know how I should divide everything up by use case.

Should I have a dedicated network device for security, handling domain blocking and VPN?

Roughly how much processing power should I be devoting to this?

And how should I deal with gaming in two locations? (It seems like it would be annoying to have to start up my desktop PC every time I want to play games on the couch. Is it viable to just run everything from the PC and use a thin client for desktop and couch usage, or is latency going to be a huge issue? It's probably not good for stability, either.)

My list of devices I can use:

Desktop PC, RPi, Intel compute stick, and an old laptop. I'd be willing to get more hardware, but not looking to spend big.

The full list of what I'd like to do:

Pihole/adguard, wireguard VPN (I'd like to route my phone traffic through my home network. Currently using TrackerControl, but I'd like tracker/ad blocking with a regular vpn too, and it would also be nice to be able to manage things remotely)

HTPC interface, with the ability to play games from desktop or couch

Home assistant (Maybe with voice recognition? That's a low priority though)

Nextcloud and/or NAS, Media management with *arr, as well as some easy backup solution

And some headroom for a few other miscellaneous things. (Minecraft server? Website / email? All low priority.)

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. I wrote out as much as I can to hopefully avoid the XY problem. I just don't know where to start, and I don't want to set everything up and then immediately realize I should have done it all differently!

There's no set plan or prescription, and no guide. You just pick the smallest set of resources you may have lying around, install what you need on it, then don't think about it until you need to. That's it.

Don't go out and buy a bunch of hardware in anticipation of some big thing you MIGHT want to do. Just use the hardware and tools you actually need to use, then move on until you actually do need hardware for a specific something.

Nein, ich möchte kein deutsches #Rüstungsbudget in Höhe von 5% des BIP. Wenn, dann sollen bitte gewünschte Funktionalitäten festgelegt werden und dann geschaut werden, wie man die erreicht und was das kostet.

5% BIP sind 215 Milliarden Euro. Das bräuchte entweder massive Steuererhöhungen oder 162 Milliarden Euro aus anderen Ressorts. Das entspricht den gesamten Budgets von allen (!) außer Arbeit&Soziales, Verkehr und Schuldentilgung.

Ansonsten bin ich Willens, Verteidigungs-Sanitärinfrastruktur zu liefern, in Form von Klopapier zu 1 Million € die Rolle. Handlich verpackt zu je 8 Stück, 3-lagig und nachhaltig aus Recyclingpapier, wahlweise gebleicht oder ungebleicht für weniger auffällige Farbe im Feld.

Ich denke mit 1024 Rollen pro Pallette sollte man den Haushalt schnell wegbekommen.

Hier ist der Bruch der linken Aufhängung deutlich sichtbar, da es noch näher fotografiert wurde.

Nahezu reife Maulbeere am Zweig - die Frucht sieht wie eine Brombeere aus. Sie ist hell-lila gefärbt. Mit etwas mehr Sonne wird sie fast schwarz.

Ich habe in meinem Leben schon so viele Moralpaniken über irgendwas Neues, das die Jugend verdirbt, miterlebt, von Popmusik und Comics über das Internet (insgesamt) und Handys bis jetzt zu sozialen Medien.

Und jedesmal war der Reflex der alten Leute, alles pauschal zu verbieten, obwohl sie überhaupt null Ahnung hatten, wie Jugendliche oder andere Menschen damit tatsächlich umgehen.

Die konkreten, spezifischen Probleme jeder dieser Themen haben sie durch dieses Vorurteilshandeln nie gelöst.

Aktive oder ehemalige Polizeibeamt*innen sitzen auf AfD-Ticket in deutschen Parlamenten: Martin Hess, MdB (#AfD) beispielsweise gibt in seiner Biografie beim Bundestag an "seit 2014 Dozent an der Hochschule für Polizei Baden-Württemberg am Institut für Fortbildung". Sein AfD-Fraktionskollege Arne Raue war "Polizei des Landes Brandenburg (Leiter Führungsstelle Recht Schutzbereich)".
Ein Polizist klagte sogar gegen das Thüringer Innenministerium, um für die dortige AfD-Fraktion arbeiten zu können.

Wir wollen dass Kommunen selbst darüber entscheiden können, ob sie eine Verpackungssteuer einführen oder nicht. Söder, seine CSU und die FW trauen das den Kommunen nicht zu und möchten die Steuer deshalb generell verbieten. Wer ist nun die Verbotspartei?

Vance is not an idiot, he's evil. And unfortunately, he's comparatively smart. What he lacks, but Trump has (at least among some people whom I barely understand) is charisma.

I think Vance realizes he can never make it in politics on his own because of his personality, but he attaches himself to Trump because Trump innately knows how to wield power.

Le problème (pour les États-Unis) avec L'Iran c'est que le pays a rejoint les BRICS+. L'agenda permettant de faire mains basses sur tout le Moyen-Orient tombe à l'eau et n'importe quel prétexte est bon pour y foutre le chaos. Maintenant il va aussi falloir composer avec la Chine, qui est déjà en la ligne de mire. Si elle décide de soutenir l'Iran, comme elle l'a fait avec la Russie, en vendant par exemple ses avoirs américains, elle peut facilement casser les reins de ces cons d'impérialistes...

Je pense que je ferais tout pour voir ce film même si ça sera douloureux
