I do!

It is difficult to do full time and make enough, which is what I am doing. I've been in business for 15 years so I have a lot of repeat customers now.

I also started an email newsletter around 8 years ago. If I hadn't have done that, I probably would not have survived.

However, if you are wanting to do stuff for fun and profit on the side, it is different. I have some ideas that I could certainly talk over.

Depends on if you want to sell stuff or offer services.

I personally suspect that our government is trying to develop some previously inconceivable military technology. I'll call such a secret project "Z," out of ignorance of what it actually is. My discipline is highly specialized, but it's also so broadly applicable that "our government wants CMD to be useful" gives zero fucking information other than "there's a camera of some kind somewhere" which could easily just mean 'we want new face detection tech to keep Z out of our enemy's hands."

The US has been atrocious at keeping secrets for decades. DOGE was obviously a government purge - I suspect that this was actually done to throw out people who our government suspects would leak information about Z. That is, this was a transition from a pseudo-peacetime civil service to a wartime civil service.

Our government is trying to scrape up scientists from the streets right now - if it wasn't, I wouldn't know shit. It cannot find enough suitable scientists to develop Z. That must mean Z is either big enough that it requires a stupidly huge number of scientists, or the US scientific community is full of people unfit to work on Z. I'd suspect it's the latter - American scientists are mostly driven by one of two desires: the desire to publish public research or money.

Patriotism in the scientific community is very low. Unfortunately, the scientists that *do* fill our National Labs are...not the best, nor the brightest. They're usually driven by the desire for a stable job where they don't have to compete...a desire held by incompetent people. They are not *idiots*, but they are undeniably outclassed by the typical university professor, and they are comically outclassed by people selling you ads.

I think we're looking at a second nuke race. I don't know what the next "nuke" is, but whatever it is the US government is trying to make it right now.

“Some victims were taken to the hospital for toxicological tests,” the ministry said. French officials did not provide any details about the people who were arrested or about what substances the syringes may have contained.

While the number of victims was small compared with the millions of people who attended Fête de la Musique events across France, the reports were among a number of alarming episodes in recent years in which people have reported being injected without their knowledge or consent in crowded spaces like clubs or bars. A British Parliament report, published in 2022 after a sudden increase in spiking incidents, said there had been more than 1,000 cases of needle attacks in the country between September 2021 and the end of December 2022. The report, which surveyed more than 3,000 victims and witnesses, cited police data showing that about 90 percent of needle spiking incidents occurred during the evening in venues like pubs and nightclubs, though some also happened at festivals and house parties.

The report noted that there was not enough information to determine the overall prevalence of needle spiking and that there could be many more attacks that are not reported.

The "official" Linux kernel, straight from Linus Torvalds and all the kernel developers, you generally see a new version every 2 to 2 and a half months.

All stable versions of the Linux kernel are numbered in the usual scheme, so major number DOT minor number, but they also have really strange codenames. Some distros tend to modify these kernels with additional patches, or features that haven't been added yet, which is why you can see some kernel versions with a "-ubuntu" at the end for example.

Certain kernel versions are also marked as LTS, meaning Long Term support. These are versions that will be supported for much longer, up to 6 years. The Linux kernel project recently reduced that support window to 2 years.

Since both the stable and LTS kernels ship with some non free firmware, there's the Kernel Libre project, which removes all of that, to only ship software and code that is completely free, as in freedom..

Next, we have the hardened kernel. It's not an "official" project per se, it's a kernel version that certain distros ship in their repos, like Arch Linux for example. It's the stable kernel, with an additional patch set applied to it to make it more resilient security-wise.

Next, we have the realtime kernel. The goal is to reduce the latency between a task being assigned to the CPU, and its execution, and it's mainly meant for industrial applications, or for audio production.
This, in turn, makes it less efficient for multi tasking, and it requires a lot more manual config to be efficient, and applications need to be specifically tailored to take advantage of this lower latency.

The low latency kernel variants do the same thing, but at a lesser degree: it still lets you pre-empt CPU threads like the real time kernel, but it isn't as regular as the realtime kernel.

The Android kernel is focused on supporting a specific category of devices, meaning that it has optimizations for these exact things.

The Zen kernel applies a few fixes and improvements meant to have the best performance and experience for linux desktop users. It's also packaged as the Liquorix kernel for Ubuntu or Debian, and other distros, although Liquorix isn't exactly like the Zen kernel.

Another version is the XanMod kernel, with sort of the same optimization as the Zen kernel, and a few more on top of that, with the same goal: improving the performance of Linux systems.

Finally, we have the TKG kernels, and I'm saying kernels, because TKG isn't a specific Linux kernel you can download and use, it's more like a build system that lets you choose a few specific patches and compile your own kernel with that.

What we (as in humanity) need to do is find a truly objective person to make the ultimate sacrifice. We'd have to compensate them with something outrageous like unlimited wealth for life. But the person would have to be a completely normal sexually active adult. Then give them the trans genital surgery. And have them report on the true efficacy of these surgeries.
