nujo, wir sind hier z.B. 60000 und haben Rathaus, Kreishaus, einige Kirchen, mehrere Schulen, Supermärkte, Fußgängerzone mit Kaufhäusern, kleines bissl Industrie am Stadtrand, Buslinien, Bahnhof,... Das ganze Gedöns qualifiziert den Ort wohl als Stadt. Großstadt wäre Quatsch, aber Dorf ist es auch nicht mehr. Vielleicht Kleinstadt? 🤔
Ne, muss da echt wiedersprechen. Wohne in ner Stadt knapp unter 100 000 und für mich ist es eine Stadt weil der öffentliche Nahverkehr und die Infrastruktur so ausgelegt ist, dass ich unabhängig von einem Auto lebe und arbeite. Wäre es ein Dorf dann bräuchte ich ein Auto für meine Einkäufe und reisen, Arbeit, aber das brauche ich nicht. Das es eine kleine Stadt ist werde ich nicht bestreiten, aber rein infrastruktur technisch ist es auf jeden Fall kein Dorf. Die läden haben bis 21/22 Uhr geöffnet. In nem Dorf ist da spätestens 18 Uhr Sense wenn nicht sogar früher. Und für mich ist alles über 1 Mio einwohner zu groß und unangenehm. Hat zwar noch bessere öffentliche Anbindung und Infrastruktur, aber kommt auch mit ganz vielen Nachteilen für mich persönlich.
Hmm, dann können wir den Begriff "Großstadt" für Deutschland komplett streichen.
Ich denke, wir haben mit "Metropole" oder "Mega-City" durchaus noch Optionen nach oben. Alles unter 100.000 Einwohner als "Dorf" zusammenzufassen, empfinde ich als sehr einseitig. Dann gibt es ganze Landstriche, die keine Städte haben.

The largest camera ever built for astrophysics (3200-megapixels, >3000 kg) was installed this week at the Rubin Observatory at Cerro Pachón in Chile.
The Rubin Observatory generates an astronomical amount of data every night which is stored and processed in 3 main data centers located in the U.S., the U.K. and France.
Image size: 6.4 GB compressed Images per night: 2,000+ Data per night: 16 TB Raw data over 10 years: 50 PB Processed data over 10 years: 500 PB Image transfer time (from Chile to SLAC in CA): 7 seconds Transfer speed: ~7.3 Gbps Alerts per night: Up to 10 million
Images are transferred from the Rubin Observatory using "direct writes via the S3 API to an object store" at the US Data Facility at SLAC in CA and distributed to the UK and France sites.
Given the high bandwidth-delay product of the links between sites (~8 Gbps per image transfer * ~165 ms round trip time RTT = ~165 MB), transfers are done using specialized connection pooling/keep-alive code and TCP tuning (e.g., initial and max cwnd size, congestion control, ..).

in reply to Michaela Maya • • •Das es eine kleine Stadt ist werde ich nicht bestreiten, aber rein infrastruktur technisch ist es auf jeden Fall kein Dorf. Die läden haben bis 21/22 Uhr geöffnet. In nem Dorf ist da spätestens 18 Uhr Sense wenn nicht sogar früher.
Und für mich ist alles über 1 Mio einwohner zu groß und unangenehm. Hat zwar noch bessere öffentliche Anbindung und Infrastruktur, aber kommt auch mit ganz vielen Nachteilen für mich persönlich.

in reply to Michaela Maya • • •Hmm, dann können wir den Begriff "Großstadt" für Deutschland komplett streichen.
Ich denke, wir haben mit "Metropole" oder "Mega-City" durchaus noch Optionen nach oben.
Alles unter 100.000 Einwohner als "Dorf" zusammenzufassen, empfinde ich als sehr einseitig. Dann gibt es ganze Landstriche, die keine Städte haben.
Ist das sinnvoll?
