Israelis keep making property purchases in both #Greece and #Cyprus.

This is how #Zionism started in #Palestine, they bought the first parts, then they discriminated against locals, organized terror attacks by Irgun and other militia, until one day they claimed it as their own.

Both Greece and Cyprus need to be very careful about this development, it is naive not to notice the pattern.

in reply to espoir, she/her, immigrant 🇵🇸

#Israel is also buying key companies, like they did with #IntrakatDefence, which used to be Greek.

It's a company which receives generous (70% I hear) #EU funding.

That's our tax money.

We are just funneling money straight to #Israel, to develop more weapons.

New development is that Israel is trying to buy the Lavion Port, which is up for sale. In doing so, they will own a port in a #NATO country, again, funded by #EU generous taxpayers.

Sea ice lows high on the agenda

image

Trends in Arctic sea ice thickness from 2011–2025

Satellite observations reveal that the extent of sea ice in the Arctic is once again hovering near record lows for this time of year – underscoring a troubling and persistent trend. This issue is a key topic at ESA’s Living Planet Symposium in Vienna, where scientists are emphasising the critical role that ESA’s Climate Change Initiative Sea Ice Project and CryoSat mission have had in helping to underpin these findings.

Looking ahead, the ability to monitor polar sea ice is in safe hands, as the development of the new CRISTAL mission is progressing well and the first satellite will be ready for launch in the second half of 2027.

KDE Connect refuses to work - (solved, thanks for help!)

Hi, on fresh install (multiple) of Fedora 42 GNOME the KDE Connect app after install wont open.

Either it will stay running in processes but nothing will display or it will immediately crash with an error.

GSconnect doesn't even show up after install.

If I install Fedora 42 KDE it works fine. But I don't like KDE. Any idea what's up with this?

EDIT:
Thanks for help, anyhow. In the end I found that I will just use KDE Connect for clipboard between my laptop, PC and phone but the desired functionality I wanted when connected to my phone is available with scrcpy and it's quite something. Can't believe it has such a stupid name as I never heard of it. It's so freaking good!

in reply to Vincent

So got GSConnect to work... I had to also enable it in Extension manager for some reason. I had no idea it's an extension since I've just i stalled it as RPM package from the discover store.

Anyhow, it's just confusing. I was installing KDE Connect on both my PC and laptop. I never even heard of GSConnect until I started troubleshooting and I thought it's just some GNOME fork of KDE-Connect, not actually a mandatory replacement for KDE-Connect on GNOME.

It may make sense in the name but the name makes it even more confusing. Since it works on Android/Windows,... Why would I not assume it will work on Linux GNOME?

#DemocraticBacksliding / Likud MK threatens Arab colleague with firing squad during removal hearing

The Knesset Committee discussed removing MK Ayman Odeh following his January social media post expressing joy over “the release of hostages and prisoners” and calling to “free both peoples from the yoke of occupation.” During the hearing, Likud MK Osher Shkalim shouted at Odeh: “In another country they would put you in front of a firing squad.” Committee chair Ofir Katz called Odeh “the eighth front” and said “your presence contaminates the Knesset, there’s no place here for such terrorists.”

The legal advisor clarified the discussion must focus only on the January tweet, not other statements. Odeh defended his position, stating the government “commits crimes against humanity in Gaza” and accused officials who “justified killing 50,000 Gazans” of lacking moral authority.

The Association for Civil Rights condemned the proceedings as “fascism.”

What a surprise - NOT. Lino regime colluded with Israel and Met Police to have Palestine Action proscribed.
in reply to Pam C

Alt text: screenshot of article:

Palestine Action said that pro-Israel groups had lobbied for the ban and there is evidence to support that contention.
Internal government documents released under freedom of information laws have revealed meetings, apparently to discuss Palestine Action, between the government and Israeli embassy officials, although they were heavily redacted. Ministers have also met representatives from the Israeli arms firm
Elbit Systems.
The organisation We Believe in Israel, which Labour MP Luke Akehurst used to be director of, began a campaign this month to ban Palestine Action.
In an accompanying report, it stated: "In July 2022, the group was investigated under counter-terrorism protocols following intelligence suggesting contact between some of its members and individuals linked to Hamas-aligned networks abroad (see: Metropolitan Police briefing, classified).
"While the investigation yielded no direct terror charges, it underscored the degree of concern shared by law enforcement agencies over Palestine Action's increasingly radicalised behaviour."
It is not clear how or why We Believe in Israel was granted access to classified documents.
There was no reference to links to Hamas in Cooper's statement but she did refer to Palestine Action as threatening infrastructure which supports Ukraine and Nato, echoing language in We Believe in Israel's report.

The police arrested nearly 700 activists from the Stop Arming #Israel campaign on Monday, the organizers of the actions said in the evening.
According to the latter, at least 650 activists were arrested after blocking the site of the arms company Syensqo in #Brussels. Around fifty other activists were also arrested and then released in Tournai, after entering the premises of the OIP-Elbit company.

The UK government’s intention to proscribe Palestine Action under the Terrorism Act 2000 marks a significant escalation in the treatment of civil disobedience. It elevates a group known for throwing red paint at buildings and military aircraft into the same legal category as al-Qaida and Islamic State. If there’s a serious threat from these activists, we’ve yet to see it – just a ministerial statement discussing civil disobedience in the language of counterinsurgency.

Ich tue mir sehr schwer damit, einen Ort mit unter 100.000 Einwohnern "Stadt" zu nennen. Selbst bei 100.000-500.000 tut es mir noch ein bisschen weh.
in reply to Michaela Maya

in reply to Michaela Maya

#US struck #Iran to prevent the total defeat of #Zionists.
US strike on Iran is a serious strategic defeat for Zionists and their US pimps.
It may have temporarily averted the Zionist defeat, but #Iran demystified Israel as "invincible"

US has also shown that it cannot prevail in this battle.
So White House chose the option of "escalation for the sake of de-escalation"

It remains to be seen whether Iran will accept it.

The Benefits of Hiring Professional Web Design Services for Small Businesses

The media in this post is not displayed to visitors. To view it, please go to the original post.

As a small business owner, you wear many hats. You're the boss, the accountant, the marketer, and sometimes even the janitor. But should you add "website designer" to that list? While it might be tempting to try and save money by designing your own website, hiring a professional web design service can offer significant benefits. Let's explore why partnering with a website designer might be the best decision for your small business.

First Impressions Matter: Making Your Business Shine Online

Think of your website as your digital storefront. Just like you'd want your physical store to look inviting and professional, your website needs to make a great first impression. A professional website designer knows how to create a site that not only looks great but also represents your brand perfectly. They understand the latest web design trends and can ensure your site stands out from the crowd.

Save Time and Focus on What You Do Best

As a small business owner, your time is precious. While you could spend hours (or even days) trying to figure out how to design a website, wouldn't that time be better spent running your business? By hiring a professional web design service, you free up your time to focus on what you do best. Let the experts handle the tech stuff while you handle the business stuff!

Get a Website That Works as Hard as You Do

A good website is more than just a pretty face. It needs to work hard for your business, attracting visitors and turning them into customers. Professional website designers know how to create sites that are not just beautiful, but also functional and effective. They can include features like contact forms, online booking systems, or e-commerce capabilities that can help grow your business.

Stay Ahead of the Tech Curve

Web design is always changing. What looked modern last year might look outdated today. Singapore Web Designer stay on top of these changes, ensuring your site uses the latest technologies and design trends. This means your website won't just look great today, but it will stay current for years to come.

Boost Your Search Engine Rankings

Did you know that the way your website is designed can affect how well it shows up in search results? It's true! Professional website designers understand Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and can build these principles into your site from the ground up. This means more people will be able to find your business online, leading to more customers and more sales.

Mobile-Friendly Design: Reach Customers Wherever They Are

These days, more people are browsing the web on their phones than on computers. A professional web design service will ensure your site looks great and works well on all devices, from big desktop screens to tiny smartphones. This "responsive design" is crucial for keeping visitors on your site and turning them into customers.

Stand Out from the Competition

In today's digital world, having a website isn't enough to set you apart. You need a great website. Professional web design services can give your small business a leg up on the competition. They can create a unique, eye-catching design that helps your business stand out in a crowded market.

Avoid Costly Mistakes

Web design might seem simple at first glance, but there's a lot that can go wrong. A professional website designer can help you avoid common pitfalls and mistakes that could cost you time, money, and customers in the long run. Their expertise can save you from headaches and ensure your site is built right the first time.

Get Ongoing Support and Maintenance

Your website isn't a "set it and forget it" kind of thing. It needs regular updates and maintenance to keep it running smoothly and securely. Many web design services offer ongoing support, helping you keep your site up-to-date and dealing with any issues that might crop up.

Invest in Your Business's Future

Think of professional web design as an investment in your business's future. A well-designed website can help you attract more customers, build your brand, and grow your business. While it might cost more upfront than doing it yourself, the long-term benefits can far outweigh the initial expense.

Conclusion: The Power of Professional Web Design

In today's digital world, your website is often the first point of contact between your business and potential customers. By hiring a professional web design service, you're ensuring that this first impression is a great one. You're not just getting a website – you're getting a powerful tool that can help your small business grow and thrive online.

Remember, your website is an extension of your business. Just as you wouldn't hesitate to hire a professional to handle your taxes or legal matters, consider partnering with a professional website designer to create your online presence. It's an investment that can pay off in more customers, more sales, and a stronger, more successful business.

Living Planet Symposium 2025: Opening session

image

Video: 02:08:03

ESA’s Living Planet Symposium, one of the world’s leading Earth observation conferences, opened today in Vienna. The plenary session began at 10:30 CEST and included addresses from ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher and ESA Director of Earth Observation Programmes Simonetta Cheli, as well as Margit Mischkulnig, from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Innovation.

There were video addresses from President of Austria, Alexander van der Bellen, Federal Minister for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure Republic of Austria Peter Hanke and the EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius. Representatives of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, ECMWF, IPCC, Eumetsat, Nordic Bildung and ETH Zurich also spoke during the opening session.

The first images from Biomass, ESA’s forest mission, launched earlier this year, were also presented during the opening plenary.

More than 6500 participants from almost 120 countries signed up to attend the event. With more than 4200 scientific presentations and posters, the symposium provides a forum and meeting point for scientists, academics and space industry representatives, as well as students and citizens.

The Living Planet Symposium takes place every three years and this year the focus is ‘from observation to climate action and sustainability for Earth’. Held in the Austrian capital over five days from today to 27 June, participants can take part in discussions on how we can work together in the fields of Earth science and with the Earth observation industry to ensure robust data and promote effective climate action to address the environmental crisis, with presentations also on new trends in Earth observation.

But there's something so completely batshit about banning _Calvin and Hobbes_, a comic strip so family friendly that it ran uncensored in the most conservative newspapers in the country for more than a decade

I'm a retail warrior with nearly 40 years of work and applying ridiculous thousands of times to work, and not one single time in my life did a squirt of an inkling of a hint of blame or paranoia enter my mind about why my shit failed that involved anyone but myself.

I got to interview a guy who specifically applied with "white victim" as his personal story. Said his previous job fired him for being white. But I didn't get a vote in hiring.
He still works for the vitamin vultures.

It seems quite likely that Iran will now source nuclear weapons from its allies.
“Sooner or later, the Israeli monopoly will be broken. First one hostile state will go nuclear, then a second hostile state, then a third. In the first half of the 21st century, the Middle East is bound to be nuclearised. The world’s first multi-rival nuclear arena might emerge in the world’s most unstable region.”

in reply to Drop Bear

@Drop Bear I don't think so because it's allies are members of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and I believe they, unlike the US, largely honor treaties they sign.

However, I don't think the facilities were destroyed, they were simply buried too deep, and even if they were the engineering is not so they will recreate them.
