If it were up to me, I would not permit hormone or surgical therapy before age 25 when the brain in most people is fully developed because before that time they may change their minds as they mature, but once you've gut your penis or breasts off there is no going back and often the damage done by hormones is irreparable. I mean most kids in college change their majors four times so clearly they aren't ready for deciding what they want to be for the rest of their lives, and you can always retrain, but you can't sew your sex bits on once you've cut them off. And let's be clear there is no gender conversion, there is de-gendering because you can't give a man a functional womb or a woman functional testes. And I would not allow them in the position to influence children under 25 for the same reasons. As an adult, what one wants to do in the presence of other consenting adults is fair game, but I think we need to eliminate potential damage to children, and if that means restricting trans rights so be it. As far as bathroom situation goes, I think we should just do away with gender specific bathrooms and eliminate that problem, make sure booths have a good lock and no looking under or over and be done with it. Women's sports, I don't think it's for men pretending to be women to compete because they have genetic advantages in terms of muscle mass. Perhaps create a separate category for them to compete amongst themselves.

Ranked choice let's us vote first for who we actually want.... and then put in backup votes for "good enough" candidates and allows us to compromise and find common ground.
