Porcelain vs. Ceramic: The Best Tile for Your Luxury Project

Both are often pitched as premium bathroom tiles, sitting side by side in stores, but they're not the same. Choosing the right one is key for spaces that need to impress and last.

Tackling a bathroom renovation, a kitchen upgrade, or a flooring refresh? You're likely after tiles that look sleek, feel high-end, and stand up to daily use. That's where luxury bathroom tiles come in.

The question everyone faces: Porcelain or ceramic? Both are often pitched as premium bathroom tiles, sitting side by side in stores, but they're not the same. Choosing the right one is key for spaces that need to impress and last.

Here's the no-frills breakdown to help you decide.

What Sets Them Apart?

Porcelain is a type of ceramic, but it's denser, fired at higher temperatures, and less absorbent. This makes it tougher, more resistant to cracks, and better suited for demanding conditions. Ceramic is lighter, easier to work with, and typically more budget-friendly.

Think of porcelain as ceramic's sturdier, more elegant sibling.

Porcelain's Edge in Luxury

For high-end spaces, porcelain often takes the win. It's built for durability, making it ideal for premium bathroom tiles or high-traffic floors. You'll see it in luxury homes, upscale hotels, or custom-designed offices. It handles radiant heating, heavy foot traffic, and even outdoor settings effortlessly.

Porcelain's low water absorption makes it perfect for wet areas like bathrooms or patios. It resists mold, stains, and swelling better than ceramic. Plus, it can mimic high-end materials like marble or stone with less maintenance.

Where Ceramic Shines

Ceramic isn't second-rate—it's just better for specific uses. It's great for walls, backsplashes, or low-traffic areas. It's easier to cut, install, and more affordable.

But for luxury bathroom tiles or busy floors? Ceramic might not deliver the durability or premium vibe you're aiming for.

Style and Feel

Both porcelain and ceramic offer endless styles—matte, glossy, textured, or patterned. You can find premium bathroom tiles in either category. But porcelain has a solid, weighty feel that elevates a space. It's like the difference between a good chair and one that feels crafted—one just feels more luxurious.

The Cost Factor

Porcelain costs more upfront. That's the reality. But its longevity and low maintenance can save you money over time, with fewer repairs or replacements needed.

On a tight budget? Ceramic works well for walls or less demanding spaces. But for a luxury space, cutting corners on materials can hurt the final result.

Why Your Tiles Supplier Matters

Tile quality varies widely. A reliable tiles supplier will guide you to premium bathroom tiles that fit your project. They'll share details on the tile's origins, durability, and performance—not just push a sale.

Shopping online? Check reviews thoroughly. In a showroom? Ask about quality and suitability. A good tiles supplier ensures you get tiles that look great and last.

The Bottom Line

For high-end, high-use areas, porcelain is the smarter pick. It's tougher, more elegant, and perfect for luxury bathroom tiles. Ceramic is fine for walls or secondary spaces but doesn't match porcelain's durability or upscale feel.

Start with a trusted tiles supplier to find the right tiles. It's about creating a space that's as durable as it is stunning.

I highly disagree. Transphobia is not a majority opinion, and the only reason trans issues have gotten a political spotlight as of late is as a scapegoat. For instance, take the results of a poll of US citizens by Pew Research Center in 2022:

Americans’ Complex Views on Gender Identity and Transgender Issues - Pew Research Center

I would thus argue that opposition of trans rights has in recent history been radical. Very few US voters stood in opposition of protections of trans Americans less than 3 years ago.

According to your link, 60% think that your sex must be the sex assigned at birth (54% in 2017, better but not great). Kind of at odds with the first number that has most people in favor of protecting trans people from discrimination. Using trans people as scapegoats wouldn't work if a lot of people weren't already at least on the fence about trans people.

It's true that according to that poll, I've overestimated the transphobia of the average american, though.

The billions and billions of dollars this bill pumps into ICE far exceed any conceivable legitimate need the agency could have, even if you agree with its mission.

This bill takes the same masked, anonymous gunmen who have been kidnapping people off the streets and gives them a budget the size of a military.

This is not about honoring the law. This is not even about immigrants.

This is about creating a police state.

I see no other way to read these numbers.

We move from one place to another, from one bombardment to the next, in an attempt to keep up with the insane escalation on Gaza City and the north. With every talk of negotiations or deals for a ceasefire, the bombing intensifies, scenes of evacuation and displacement expand, and the stranglehold tightens on over a million Palestinians, trapped between death, hunger, and siege.

IMO, it turns out that there is only one issue in the world,
the JQ.

Dont like blacks, you would never have to see blacks,
except for the jew bringing them around.

Dont like poverty, you would be able to earn your fair share,
without being robbed of it, without the jew around.
Dont like world wars?

It turns out that EVERY problem in the world,
can be explained, by SIMPLY NOTICING THE JEW!

I wish they had told me that in the first place.
Day one!

Whaaa,

its all a jew problem!

Batteries are so cheap, solar doesn’t sleep. Thanks to plummeting prices, analysts say that solar plus batteries can now provide round-the-clock power in the sunniest parts of the world, undercutting fossil gas and reshaping grid planning. Cities like Muscat, Oman, and Las Vegas can already hit that steady power mark for up to 99% of the hours in a year, while Hyderabad, Madrid, and Buenos Aires can get 80-95% of the way there using the same setup.
