The Israeli government approved a plan to stop funding housing for Israelis who lived in #gaza border settlements and were evacuated following the October 2023 attacks by #Hamas and has given them until the end of July to return home, the local Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported

The decision, approved through a phone poll vote, ends temporary housing arrangements for evacuees from 12 communities heavily affected by the Hamas-led attack. Israeli military officials confirmed that there are no longer security restrictions preventing residents from returning to these areas as of July 1.

Variations on the phrase crop up in innumerablemedia articles and public statements by influencers, activists, and LGBTQ groups. The same idea—that the choice is transition or death—appeared in the arguments made by Elizabeth Prelogar, the Biden administration’s solicitor general, before the Supreme Court last year. Tennessee’s law prohibiting the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to treat minors with gender dysphoria would, she said, “increase the risk of suicide.”

But there is a huge problem with this emotive formulation: It isn’t true. When Justice Samuel Alito challenged the ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio on such claims during oral arguments, Strangio made a startling admission. He conceded that there is no evidence to support the idea that medical transition reduces adolescent suicide rates.

My main areas of expertise are computer security and standardiziation, and I'm deeply involved in the free and open source software (FOSS) community. My ideal role would be one that blends strategy with technology: Open Source Program Manager or CISO for instance. Remote-first is most practical, but any amount of travel as part of the job is acceptable to me.  Turns out Elon Musk buying Twitter was the best thing ever to happen to Mastodon!

It's been over a year since gave up on Facebook and started dabbling in the Fediverse. After the initial excitement of talking to myself on two different Mastodon instances, trying out Pixelfed and PeerTube, and setting up this blog, i soon became bored because nobody i knew had yet come across to the distributed way of doing things.

And so i pretty much ignored the entire thing, until a few weeks ago when Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44bn and promptly set about to destroy it. Suddenly loads of my friends on the birdapp were talking about Mastodon, sharing their new identities even though they hadn't posted anything yet, and asking me what mine was.

So it felt like a good time to come back to it. I tidied up my Mastodon profile, added a verified link to my website, installed a new app: MetaText is so much nicer than the standard Mastodon app. And i sort of just started posting again.

Slowly and surely, some of my friends also started posting. I've had meaningful replies and conversations! Even mainstream media is now talking about Mastodon! It looks like this thing is actually happening for real. And it's all thanks to Elon Musk!

Their visas were revoked, and critics scoured their past performances for further things to get up in arms about.

When a video was found of member Mo Chara waving a Hezbollah flag he was handed from the audience, the frontman was quickly brought up on terror charges in the United Kingdom. GUI/App to automate key presses in linux wayland
There is xclicker which is a flatpak app, but it only automate mouse clicks, but there is nothing for key presses, I am surprised I could not find anything on this, but is there any GUI for this? Also is this possible on a technical level (in flatpak especially, I dont know if apps can simulate key presses). I know of ydotool, but that uses root, also its not a gui

Dunno if it would meet your needs, but I've been using Input Remapper for binding macros to various key presses and mouse buttons under Wayland. It does prompt for root access, but it's a GUI. It supports any input method, as far as I can tell. It even supports my tablet.

I use it to bind stuff like hold(key(BTN_LEFT).wait(100)) to some button to repeatedly left click while I'm holding that button down.

Now that all can see that lawfulness under fascist America is simply a badly-written play & since it's clear that our highest court is, in fact, the most corrupt one, I was reminded by these statements at the close of Pussy Riot's trial in 2012.

It really does feel like we must all rise together. Authoritarians know who their friends are, but do we understand that we must lift each other up, across false boundaries, against the death cult of old men in power today?

Just do want to say briefly that Bob Vylan saying “Death to the IDF” was an important, strategic and, yes, brave thing to do. Of course it pushed the limit of what is acceptable, was shocking to hear at Glastonbury (i was shocked!), but that was the point.

He single-handedly shifted the Overton Window on what is said. And he was right: The IDF is a violent war organisation that kills unarmed civilians on a daily basis and should indeed come to an end. We all know this, actually. #Gaza

Hay un motivo por el que resulta difícil de definir el fascismo y es que casi todas las demás ideologías se definen por lo que proponen, por lo que quieren conseguir. En cambio el fascismo se define por lo que odian. Sus objetivos en realidad son difusos y no están claros.

Se habla siempre de "volver" a una supuesta "grandeza anterior", de "patriotismo" y "viejas tradiciones" pero nunca explican exactamente cómo hacerlo. No hay un plan organizado ni un proyecto claro.

Sus propuestas solo se concretan y se vuelven claras cuando hablan sobre lo que odian. Sus propuestas son siempre destructivas, no constructivas.

No quieren conseguir nada, lo que quieren es que los demás no lo hagan.

Buenos y tórridos días. Mientras estoy con el café, ya con 27,6 grados a las ocho menos diez de la mañana, veo esto y me dan más ganas de salir corriendo. Mientras en Madrid cierran el retiro y solo se puede estar fresco en un centro comercial o en casa pagando aire acondicionado non stop, en Bilbao ponen más parques con tumbonas (si, estos ya no tienen bancos, sino tumbonas para relajarse en medio de jardines) y duchas para refrescarse. Que los disfruten.

作为一个没怎么了解过这方面知识的人，很想听听大家对中医中药的看法。

网上刷到不管什么疾病的内容，下面都会有评论推荐看中医吃中药，本来觉得有点咯噔，因为他们说话的方式总给我一种在传销的感觉。但包括身边的人在内推崇中医的人越来越多了，我就疑惑了，大家推崇中医，到底是因为很多人真的用它治好了病，还是一种意识形态宣传的结果。

韩国日本也会有人用汉方药，我觉得传统医学本身并没有那么可恨，但它一旦和其他东西绑定在一起，就变味了，所以现在有一种很奇怪的感觉。反中医的理由我当然也听过，并且觉得挺有道理，想在毛象再听一听香油的意见。

你要找对医生。我个人体验是有效果。我只是去调理也没和医生说我每个夏天脖子后面会固定发湿疹。用过所有外用药也没法根治。但是，之前去看过一段时间中医调理，主要是看睡眠。喝完一段时间中药，脖子后面的湿疹就再也没有复发过了。还有就是我爸的肺部，所有医生都是说要开刀，但是他已经开过一次肾脏的刀，他不愿意再熬一次。他就要保守治疗喝中药，最近的一次检查下来是说结节有变小。感觉不是急症的话，偶尔调理一下是可以的。但是记得是药三分毒，最多三个月查一下肝肾功能。一般都是大夏天和大冬天去看中医。认真筛选一下可靠的医生

@disisdeguey porque no hay consecuencias. ¿Tú crees que alguna de las empresas que no permitieron a sus trabajadores irse a casa en la DANA va a tener que pagar algo o va a ver a los responsables que tomaron dicha decisión en la cárcel? No la va a pisar ni Mazón.

I've been following the #Congo #peace #negotiations, and it looks like the deal being signed is very one-sided. #Rwanda gets to keep its troops in Congo, #M23 gets to join the Congolese army, and Congolese minerals keep flowing into the US. #Qatar hosted the negotiations, and the signing will be in Washington, with #Rubio and #Trump present. It seems obvious that Congo was pressured into giving up its core demands. This is not a long-term solution for peace.
