Many people with AGS have primarily, or even only, gastro symptoms. And it’s very different from person to person. A few examples from people I know well:
P1-stomach pain, diarrhea, chronic hives, fatigue

P3-migraine, fatigue, joint pain, nausea
P4-stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting, burning skin, arthritic pain in hands and feet, brain fog
— it can take some people years to get diagnosed, especially where it’s not prevalent. It’s just an easy antibody blood test though.
You could also try avoiding ALL mammal products for awhile and see if she feels better. If she’s highly sensitive though, that could include things like cross-contamination, sugar (bone char), natural flavors, and airborne fumes. Confiée à Santé publique France (SPF) et à l’Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire (Anses), l’étude devait initialement être rendue publique en 2024. Les autorités évoquent désormais une publication à l’automne 2025. D’après les associations, qui ont participé au comité de suivi de PestiRiv, les comités d’experts de SPF et de l’Anses ont chacun rendu leurs conclusions scientifiques « depuis plusieurs semaines ». Interrogée, SPF plaide un simple retard ; à l’Anses, on assure que la finalisation des avis conjoints des deux agences n’est pas achevée. De son côté, la direction générale de la santé (DGS) n’a pas répondu à nos sollicitations.
Environ 4 % de la population réside à moins de 200 mètres de viticultures, selon SPF. Or les régions viticoles, si elles ne représentent qu’un peu plus de 3 % de la surface agricole utile française, concentrent environ 20 % des pesticides utilisés dans l’Hexagone. L’étude PestiRiv a été menée sur le terrain dans six régions : Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Grand-Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
Elle s’est déroulée sur deux périodes : entre octobre 2021 et février 2022, lorsque les traitements des vignes avec des pesticides sont moins fréquents, et entre mars et août 2022, en pleine période de traitements. Des prélèvements (urine, cheveux) ont été effectués auprès de 3 350 participants tirés au sort. La cohorte était constituée d’adultes (18 à 79 ans) et d’enfants de plus de 3 ans vivant dans des zones viticoles (à moins de 500 mètres et à plus de 1 000 mètres d’autres cultures) et des zones éloignées de toute culture (plus de 1 000 mètres). Dès son lancement, en octobre 2021, PestiRiv avait suscité une levée de boucliers dans le monde du vin et en particulier des représentants des vins de Bordeaux. Après la révélation d’un cluster de cancers d’enfants à Preignac (Gironde) et des cas d’intoxication aux pesticides au sein d’une école de Villeneuve-de-Blaye, dans le même département, la DGS avait saisi SPF, en 2016, afin de mener une étude épidémiologique sur les liens entre l’exposition aux pesticides et la survenue de cancers pédiatriques dans les zones viticoles.
En octobre 2023, une équipe française avait rendu un premier volet de cette enquête en établissant pour la première fois une relation entre la densité de vignes présentes autour du domicile et un risque accru de cancer du sang pédiatrique. Ces travaux, publiés dans la revue Environmental Health Perspectives, révèlent qu’une augmentation de 10 % des surfaces de vignes dans un rayon d’un kilomètre autour du lieu de résidence élève de 5 % à 10 % le risque de contracter une leucémie aiguë lymphoblastique pour l’enfant. Cette nouvelle polémique survient dans un contexte de pressions politiques plus fortes que jamais sur l’expertise publique. La proposition de loi Duplomb menace directement l’autonomie de l’Anses. En effet, elle prévoit un droit de regard des ministères et des industriels sur le processus des demandes d’autorisation de mise sur le marché des pesticides, par le biais d’un comité d’orientation réunissant notamment des représentants du monde agricole et des fabricants de pesticides, qui pourrait prioriser le calendrier d’instruction de l’agence.
Pour sa part, SPF fait l’objet d’un contrôle de l’inspection générale des affaires sociales (IGAS), mandatée par le gouvernement pour « dresser un état des lieux des différentes missions conduites par SPF et des moyens humains, financiers, techniques qui y sont consacrés ». Dans une période de recherche d’économies, le contrôle de l’IGAS soulève les plus grandes inquiétudes au sein de l’agence.
Selon nos informations, plusieurs scénarios sont d’ores et déjà prêts et doivent être soumis à la ministre du travail et de la santé, Catherine Vautrin, au début du mois de juillet : ils vont d’une réorganisation interne profonde à un démantèlement de SPF, dont les missions seraient réparties dans d’autres agences ou administrations. Pour l’heure, les personnels n’ont pas été tenus informés de l’état des propositions de l’IGAS. L’arbitrage est attendu pour septembre, à peu près au moment où les résultats PestiRiv devront être rendus publics.

The vaccine gave me asthma. I never had it before, and I got it immediately after the vax. The effects are becoming milder over time, so I'm hopeful that it'll go away. At first, it was so bad, I fell down a flight of stairs because I couldn't breathe. That hurt.
But anyways... I recently discovered a new trick to shorten the episodes when they hit - open eyes wide and look as far to the edge of my vision as I can, in all directions. I have no idea why eyes and heart/lungs are connected, but they clearly are. Doing that makes that whole track of organs relax - osophagus, lungs, heart - it all opens up somewhat if I do this weird eye roll.
Seconding the NAC suggestion. I suffered from a bad nasal drip, lots of gagging. It's gone. Even if catch a cold I barely feel it, can still breath through my nose, clear lungs. If you have acess to NAC then getting seasonal allergies and colds basically becomes a choice.

One of the things was to call about a bachelor apartment available September 1st and I scheduled a viewing next week. It looks like a self-contained unit with a kitchenette and a bathroom. The streetview photos of the building show it has a lot of balcony space, and so I might even be able to do my gardening there. I'll need to be on housing assistance to afford it, but the *other* thing I did was talked to my housing guy and let him know about the appointment, and that's done so balls are rolling.
