#VivaldiBrowser team has just released a new desktop update, Vivaldi 7.5
vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-on-de…
I personally love the new smooth way of interacting with Speed Dials and Dashboard elements (Widgets), the new Mail and Calendar look, as well as the new Ad Blocker supported rules (badfilter, strict3p, and strict1p).

P.S. Related to the **real bugs** hotel: vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-on-de…. Does anyone know where I can find the #drill in the photo? I like it. It must be as powerful as #VivaldiBrowser. Maybe it even has a button to change its colour 😀
Please, do you know where to get it from? Possibly on the Vivaldi Store? TY!🙏

I made a page for Cal and his box! 😀

It's become a crap day for a lot of folks and I'm struggling with the news and everything too, and I happened to download my Mastodon archive and realized how many photos of Cal in his box that I have - there are 15 so far, I think more if I keep digging.

So as a small good thing for today, here's our goofy boy and his beloved cardboard friend.

I'm preventing myself from doomposting by acknowledging I don't know a lot of stuff. Hardly anyone in Middle Earth knew about Frodo, Sam, and Gollum, but they fought against Mordor anyway. And those three had no idea of who and what was helping them from afar. Same for every real-world resistance movement or liberation movement. We can't account for everything, there's always someone else working on our behalf, just beyond our ken. Surprise is as much a part of revolution as anything else.

Goddamn. I was going to boost a post but then I got near the end where it said: "crushing to see this happen to human beings who aren't criminals...", and first of all, in such an unjust society define "criminal" for me, would ya? I'd love to hear it.

Secondly, would you think it's okay if "criminals" were kidnapped and tortured?

I assume this person primarily meant to emphasize that these are just everyday people, like your neighbors, but the implication is not good.

in reply to Artemis

Don't let right-wingers define the debate here. They want to argue with us about who is and isn't a criminal, because they don't actually have a defense for why this is okay to do to *anybody*.

So we can endlessly argue about "criminals" while they send people to concentration camps.

I didn't screenshot the post because I'm not trying to call out this specific person. I just wanted to remind us to be careful whose rhetoric & language we are using.

BRICS has expanded to 20 countries – 10 members and 10 partners – after adding Vietnam. BRICS+ now makes up 44% of world GDP (PPP) and 56% of the global population. The US failed to divide China and Vietnam in its Second Cold War.

I never said it wasn't political, every trade agreement is political. What I said is #BRICS is not a military or political alliance it is an alternative system of multi polar trading free of interference from the current US hegemony system where international trade requires trading in US dollars.

For example, New Zealand, which is not even a #BRICS member country, has a FTA with its biggest trading partner China that means NZ and China can freely trade with each other in their own currencies.

I have no idea what argument David is trying to make. His initial comment was that BRICS doesn’t appear to be a unified bloc pointing to the relationship between India and China. Which is why I pointed out the fact BRICS is not a political or military alliance but a cooperative economic system of trade.

USA’s 3 largest trading partners are Mexico, Canada, and China. It would be ridiculous to assume this makes these countries a unified political bloc.

Ironically, since Trump introduced his tariffs India, Japan, South Korea and the ASEAN member nations have all agreed to increase their economic and political cooperation with China.

This is the heartwarming moment we need right now:

11-year-old Danish kid Jens Fogh made Easter decorations and sold them, thereby raising USD 5300 which he used to buy 270 school backpacks for Ukrainian children. So while in Denmark, Zelenskyy presented him with a medal for his friendship.

Best privacy preserving measures

Considering the current intrusive cyber climate, what are the best ways to preserve privacy?

For example, I have been exclusively using a VPN connection network-wide at home setup on OpenWrt, which in turn has a PiHole as its DNS, with the PiHole using Unbound and NextDNS (redundant I know, but I use it to encrypt my requests more than anything else).

I also have Wireguard setup so I can VPN all my devices to my network while I am on the road (also have a NextDNS profile installed. Yes I know, it’s redundant).

I also basically have all my “smart” devices (TV, lightbulbs, air purifier, etc…) at home cutoff from the internet using OpenWrt’s firewall to prevent them from calling home.

I rotate web browsers frequently to try and attempt avoiding getting fingerprinted, not sure how useful that is.

I switched email providers to mailbox.org because f*** Google and Microsoft.

I also am hosting my own cloud drive on Nextcloud to avoid using services like GDrive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc…

I own Apple devices which aren’t the best for privacy but migrating from a whole ecosystem that I have been embedded in for MANY years is easier said than done. Hopefully in the future that’s my next move.

I feel like there is a lot more I can do but I am not sure what else. I would appreciate any and all suggestions ya’ll might have.

@Theodore John Kaczynski @Autumn It's the sum total of what was done. And robotics were less a thing in 1969 than 1976. Beyond that I love sci-fi, I've seen lots of it, and 2001 was probably the most technically realistic ever, even so it paled by contrast. I don't think Hollywood was up to the task. By the way, did you know Holly Wood is what witches made their wands out of?
