You can do little things to improve world around you and that matters. If you have extra money, you can donate to local food banks, or community programs that help poor people in your area. If you have extra time and energy, you can help people in your area with your skills and resources.

Instead of sinking into doom and gloom, put that time into helping someone. Even if it is just you.

And don't listen to the nay-sayers.

I knew about the Black Panther Party through pop culture – movies, rap – but I had never encountered them through their voices. Reading That's Not My Neighbor the original newspaper and understanding the real voices of people who were once considered “dangerous” made me look at the concept of justice and struggle in a very different light. I think it helps today’s young generation understand that not everything right comes from the powerful.
