Preventing Asian Citrus Psysllid

I have a small lemon tree that was bought from a local grower and came with the extra bonus of an Asian Citrus Psysllid infestation. The tree is dead now and I'd love to get a new tree, but want to make sure I've done everything I could to prevent a new tree from getting infested by any Psysllid still in the area.

Is there anything I can do to treat my soil or surrounding plants to make sure those little buggers aren't going to keep coming back? I'm in California where the sale of IMIDACLOPRID products is banned, which was previously the primary treatment for this.

In all seriousness, you need to contact your local university agriculture extension. Like right now.

This is a huge problem this generated from unlicensed growers, and they are shipping this all over the country, causing massive outbreaks.

Unless you live in an area with an abundance of Mantids or Wasps, I don't think there are any other means of control aside from harsh pesticides.

Call your local extension immediately, tell them where you got it, and have them come visit to treat if necessary.

Discussion - Potential piefed instance in the future?

I've been waiting for this a long time (half a year), personally. After seeing the surge in piefed instances, i.e. blahaj, .ca, .zip, quokk.au, and .world creating their own instances, and clients guaranteeing future piefed support, we've been thinking about potentially opening an instance in the future. Not a guarantee, just an idea. This isn't a voting thread, just a discussion. Later on we'll actually vote on this.

Do note that this thread will not guarantee an instance; we are discussing a hypothetical. Suggestions? Ideas? Criticisms? make your voice heard.

Arrancar MacOS con Docker desde GNU/Linux

Me sucedió que buscando como instalar el navegador Safari en Linux para probar una aplicación, no encontraba nada en la página de apple y me derivaban al sistema operativo sin posibilidad de poder usarlo en Linux. Fue entonces cuando di con esta imagen de docker, que permite virtualizar el sistema operativo MacOS al completo desde una máquina virtual que se ejecuta con qemu en nuestro sistema, para inicarlo tenemos que ejecutar el siguiente comando con docker instalado y la virtualización activada en Linux:

$ docker run -it --rm --name macos --device=/dev/kvm --device=/dev/net/tun --cap-add NET_ADMIN -v "./disk:/dev/disk1" -v "./shared:/shared" -v "./macos:/storage" -e "VERSION=15" -e "DISK_SIZE=50G" -e "RAM_SIZE=8G" -e "CPU_CORES=4" --network host dockurr/macos

En la variable de entorno VERSION podemos indicar la versión de MacOS a instalar, y en las demás variables los recursos que queremos asignarle a la máquina virtual.

Luego solo tenemos que conectarnos por VNC al entorno gráfico que ejecuta:

$ xtightvncviewer localhost:5900

Una vez hayamos instalado el sistema podremos usarlo desde la VM con total normalidad, el único contra que le encuentro es que como no tenemos teclados de Mac hay caracteres que va a costar encontrar en nuestro teclado o directamente tendremos que copiarlos porque no están, por lo demás es un sistema completamente operativo para hacer pruebas, espero que os ayude en vuestros desarrollos.
