They've been switching #Android users' phones from the legacy Assistant to #Gemini, even though Gemini cannot properly execute many of the directives that legacy Assistant can perform. This means that Google is KNOWINGLY breaking users' home and other action routines. In fact, the fine print actually notes that Gemini can't do everything legacy Assistant can do, and Google still switched users' phones over anyway. I had to go digging all over to find the setting to turn off goddamned Gemini for Assistant functions -- it had been switched to Gemini even though the Gemini app per se was not installed! It's fine to think that China isn't “socialist”. But to say that it is a dictatorship shows either a lack of knowledge or a lack of honesty.
I'm not defending the RPC. Not least because I'm not paid to do so. But in the view of an anti-capitalist or anti-state person, every country should be seen as a “dictatorship”. In terms of individual freedom, this is difficult to measure, because they treat it as something subjective. Objectively speaking, for example, women have more autonomy over their own bodies in China than in most Western countries where abortion is restricted.
In fact, you don't have to be a genius to see the differences between China and any Western power. Today's China has never colonized another country. It has never bombed a defenseless civilian population. It has never forcibly sterilized its population. Then we all need to follow the same model of government - which you clearly don't see working. Not to mention that in China there are 8 different parties in addition to the CCP and their voting scheme is not very different from parliamentarianism
But there are valid reasons to criticize these countries. You can criticize social inequality, you can criticize the lack of equal marriage - for people of the same sex - you can criticize its relationship with smaller local countries like Nepal. You can criticize the greater representation of women in the CCP. You can criticize everything from economic policy to society. But to buy into cheap Western propaganda and disregard the achievements of popular movements in this country is disgusting.
