Speaking of weak Democrats, you have no idea how much trouble I've had getting Democrats in #Maine to introduce or otherwise advocate for gun reform legislation. I've written multiple times to the chair of the Democratic Senate Committee, the Executive Director of the Maine Democratic Party, Senate President Mattie Daughtry (my state senator), the Maine Gun Safety Coalition, and more. All of them refuse to answer me. What cowardice. #Politics #Democrats #Guns #GunReform #Democracy #US #USpol

Nobody has made this conflation.

I reacted to the statement that gun-related issues and laws in Maine are a local problem, which they very clearly are not. The specific one at hand, a person using a firearm in their yard, might be framed as a local/municipal problem if one were inclined to ignore the context in which it's occurring. But I am not so inclined. Furthermore, it's a perfectly reasonable and valid political act to petition your state to take action that your municipality will not, and force it to be a statewide issue that needs to be addressed (which it is, and has been, for some time). That's how politics works. I found your responses here--that it's "just a local problem"--to be needlessly dismissive of an important issue. I'd also like to keep things friendly, but I don't find dismissiveness like that to be very friendly.

“It is fundamental that the great powers of Congress to conduct war and to regulate the Nation's foreign relations are subject to the constitutional requirements of due process. The imperative necessity for safeguarding these rights to procedural due process under the gravest of emergencies has existed throughout our constitutional history, for it is then, under the pressing exigencies of crisis, that there is the greatest temptation to dispense with…

#Today 15

Good day!

It’s supposed to be rainy all day. We might get up to 72F (22C), but it’ll depend on how the clouds interact with the mountains. It tends to be unpredictable.

I’m considering an in town photo adventure. The weather is right for it & I need a change.

Be everwell.

The U.S. Will Incinerate 500 Tons of Emergency Food Aid - The Atlantic

“Nearly 500 metric tons of emergency food—enough to feed about 1.5 million children for a week—are set to expire tomorrow, acc to current and former government employees with direct knowledge of the rations.

Within weeks, two of those sources told me, the food, meant for children in Afghanistan and Pakistan, will be ash.”

You can airdrop tens of thousands of them out of the back of a military cargo plane. I ate nothing but HDRs for a month to try and call attention to their anomalous non-use in the US airdrop relief during the Biden administration, when the US launched a token PR effort when it was fully capable of providing full relief to northern Gaza entirely by air.

Since it struck Iran on June 13, the Israeli Government Advertising Agency has paid for tens of millions of advertisements on YouTube alone. In clear breach of Google’s policies, these ads justify and lionize the attack as a necessary defense of Western civilization, and claim that Israel is carrying out “one of the largest humanitarian missions in the world” in Gaza.
