Told me one of his colleagues tried to cross the border and was asked by the #BorderStasi what their views on #trump were.

They replied "I'm #Canadian, I'm not really informed enough about American politics to have an opinion."

They turned her around and wouldn't let her in.

Now, why was I talking to said lawyer friend in #Canada?

IDF prevents rescue of trapped Gaza family for 8 hours, 13 killed including 7 children

Israeli forces murdered 13 family members, including 7 children, in an airstrike on their home in #Gaza’s Al-Tuffah neighborhood. The #IDF prevented rescue workers from reaching the trapped family for approximately 8 hours, attacking any attempts to approach with drone strikes. Video footage shows 35-year-old Hala Arafat wounded and pleading for rescue from under the rubble. By the time Palestinian Civil Defense was permitted to enter, all 13 family members had died. The family had returned to their partially destroyed home because they had nowhere else to live.

The entire point is mass death of disabled and elderly people. This administration has all but called us "useless eaters", once we're not dying fast enough, the rhetoric about how much we're costing "taxpayers" and how we don't contribute to society will ramp up to build public hatred for us. That will make the next step of putting us in their ICE detention centers to kill us even easier.

Edit: I know I keep sounding alarmist, my grandparents' families were still in Germany, and some cousins with developmental disabilities were killed under Aktion T4. I don't need to wait to see how the story ends this time.

You'd think, after FORTY YEARS of doing my own laundry, cleaning my own home, paying my own bills, cooking my food, having owned two successful businesses, and entertained thousands when I was doing theatre and karaoke I'd treat myself better... think MORE of myself... take some satisfaction knowing I've DONE THE ADULT THING and been successful at it.

But there's nothing. There's no BIG payoff at the end. You just keep walking the path, hoping for the pot of gold and the pot is empty and needs to be washed, just like all the others you've washed in your life.

Sure, you take some solace in having loved a few times and continue to gather the unconditional love of your dogs, but I'm bemused at the lack of contentment.

How do you guys find contentment?

The #NewYorkTimes has published an op-ed by a genocide scholar who says that he resisted acknowledging the truth of what #Israel is doing in #Gaza for as long as he could, but can no longer deny the obvious.

It’s an admission that may as well have come from The New York Times itself.

In an article titled “I’m a Genocide Scholar. I Know It When I See It.”, a Brown University professor of Holocaust and #genocide studies named #OmerBartov argues that “Israel is literally trying to wipe out #Palestinian existence in Gaza,” and denounces his fellow #Holocaust scholars for failing to acknowledge reality.
